The unwanted wife’s unexpected comeback -
Chapter 195
Chapter 195:

Caden smirked. His eyes glittered with mockery, causing her pain. With all the cards on the table and their argument reaching its climax, Alicia declared with determination, “There is no need to discuss this any further. “This ends today.”
Caden's expression stiffened for a moment. His face completely fell.
“Are you sure about this?” he asked impatiently.
Alice braced herself. “What is there to consider? You've said the same thing over and over again. What exactly do you expect me to say? Are you considering letting me go?”
Caden scoffed again. “You know damn well who has trouble letting me go,” he replied, his patience wearing thin. “Stop being so dramatic. “I’m done.”
Alice remained equally resolute. “I didn't ask you to enjoy my drama. “You can proceed as you wish with our agreement.”
Realizing that Caden wasn't going to hold on to her, she added nonchalantly, "If you think this association has been a burden, just let me know. I'll take care of it."
With those words, she grabbed her bag, opened the door and walked out.
He didn't make a scene, but when he left, the office fell eerily quiet. It seemed almost lifeless.
Caden felt his anger rising uncontrollably. He was at his limit.
But he was not one to express his frustration in fits of anger. Instead, he sat back down, trying to concentrate, and began to go through the paperwork as usual.
A few moments later, Hank knocked on the door and entered the room with a bewildered expression.
"Mr. Ward, what happened to Miss Bennett? She refused to let me get her a driver."
Caden's expression remained cold. “Just ignore her.”
Hank hesitated, sensing that something was wrong. Had they had a disagreement?
The room felt heavier, and as darkness settled in, rain began to fall.
Aware of Caden's mood, Hank ventured to suggest, "It's getting dark and it's starting to rain. Mr. Ward, maybe you should take Miss Bennett home. What do you think?"
Caden lost his temper. “Why? She's an adult. “Do you think she can’t replace her way?”
Hank, intimidated, was too nervous to react. “I apologize, Mr. Ward. It was out of line for me to suggest that.”
"Go away now."
Hank quickly closed the door behind him.
Caden had planned to work longer, but he found that he couldn't concentrate. I turned off the computer and decided to take the medical report to the Joy mansion.
Ciara was enjoying some music when he arrived. Caden didn't interrupt her, but instead placed the medical report in front of her.
Ciara immediately sensed that something was wrong. “What's wrong?”
Caden kept a neutral expression. “Nothing. “Just some work stuff.”
Seeing that he was reluctant to say more, Ciara didn't press further. She started to glance over the report. Everything seemed to be in order for her.
His only wish was for her to continue to enjoy good health.
When Ciara learned that Caden would be eating there, she asked the kitchen staff to prepare some extra dishes.
He turned around and saw that it had disappeared.
Finally, she found him on the terrace. Caden stood out against the sky, a tall figure shrouded in night, with faint trails of smoke swirling around him.
Ciara walked over to him. “Why are you smoking? “I thought you didn’t smoke.”
Caden crushed the cigarette under his foot, waving his hand to clear the smoke. “Stay away from me when I smoke,” he replied, avoiding her question.
Ciara watched him closely. “You don't usually do this…”
Caden frowned. “Stop worrying about me.”
Ciara replied: “If you don't want me to worry, then don't make it so obvious. Your feelings are written all over your face. I can’t ignore it.”
After stating her point of view, she smiled, somewhat pleased. “That girl really affects you, huh?”
Caden's expression grew even colder. He turned and walked away, not wanting to stay in Ciara's presence any longer. Everything she did or said seemed to irritate him.
But no one irritated him as much as Alice. Just thinking about her made him furious, although he didn't understand why.
She had feelings for him and refused to leave him, but he always resisted her. She was stubborn, determined, very stubborn. He fantasized about locking her up and forcing her into submission until she was too exhausted to argue.
It was late, after dinner, and he had no intention of going out. I have decided to stay the night.
Ciara had a room ready for him, with everything he needed.
“Let’s see if you can sleep alone tonight,” Ciara teased. “You're not afraid of the dark, are you, my dear grandson?”
Caden was momentarily speechless.
He replied curtly: "I'm not afraid of the dark. It's the constant chatter that I can't stand. There's no talking after nine. It's irritating."
Ciara laughed softly and then hummed a tune as she walked away to tend to her flowers.
Caden settled back on the couch to watch TV. He was distracted, his mind wandering, barely paying attention to what was on the screen.
Then, his phone, which he had carelessly thrown aside, began to vibrate.
It was Gerry, sounding excited. “Come out here and have a drink, Caden!”
Caden wasn't sorry. "I've stopped drinking."
“Sure,” Gerry replied, his voice full of amusement. “I'm texting you the address. Come with us. It’ll be fun.”
The loud music playing in the background on Gerry's side was overwhelming.
Then a soft female voice was heard. “Alice! Wait for me!”
Caden frowned.
