Chapter 227:

Alicia paused.

Caden's explanation caught her off guard.

"Why are you explaining it to me now?" she asked uncertainly.

Caden didn’t answer right away.

Instead, he gently massaged her aching shoulder.

Even though he’d been unconscious and unresponsive, he’d heard Alicia’s panicked calls.

She’d desperately searched for his wounds and dragged him to safety.

It was clear she was determined to save him, no matter what it took.

He was aware of everything.

“You wanted to know, right? That’s why I’m telling you,” Caden’s voice was unusually deep and reassuring.

Alice almost believed that he really cared for her.

Unable to resist, she looked up at him.

He leaned down and kissed her lips.

It had been a while since their last kiss, and Caden found himself enjoying it more than he expected, wanting more.

Alicia didn't resist; she let him have his way.

Her answer seemed to touch him.

He stepped back a little and said, “About the scarf Yolanda was wearing the other day, I forgot it was yours.

I bought another one to fix it.

Alice was startled.

She had been upset for quite some time.

However, hearing Caden's words eased her distress.

She silently scolded herself for her lack of determination.

Caden’s kiss grew deeper and more intense.

His desire for her was palpable.

Alicia felt the heat between them as well and whispered softly, “I’m hurt…”

Caden stepped back slightly, his voice hoarse.

“We’re not doing anything.

When asked, "If you weren't hurt, would you be intimate with me?" Alice didn't answer.

The distance that had once existed between them had long since disappeared.

At first, his interest had been purely physical, but that seemed to have changed; his feelings for her had deepened beyond mere attraction.

Alicia had been preoccupied with labels and searching for love before, but her perspective had evolved.

Realizing that life was short, she now understood that being with him was what really mattered.

Too embarrassed to answer directly, she changed the subject.

“Weren’t you in Averibon? How did you get here so quickly?”

Caden didn’t admit that he had arranged a private jet just to save her.

Instead of answering, he asked another question.

“When you saw me, you must have been overwhelmed, right? Don’t you think I’m like a knight saving a damsel in distress?”

Alice replied playfully, “In that situation I should have thought that anyone who appeared was a gentleman.

Caden let out a soft chuckle, and Alicia, feeling a surge of warmth, couldn't help but smile too.

However, the tender moment quickly faded when Caden's wandering hand interrupted him.

His loose shirt made the mischief easy for him.

Alice tried to stop his hand, but she couldn't.

His touch was expert and playful.

“You’ve only been unconscious for a day.

Why do your breasts seem smaller?” Caden frowned.

“You should eat more tomorrow.

Alice bristled.

Was that her only concern? Did she like him less now that they seemed smaller?

"If you don't like them, don't touch them," said Alice sharply, brushing his hand away.

Suddenly, he remembered the call Yolanda had answered, and trying to sound casual, he asked, "When you were on your business trip, did you share a room with Yolanda?"

Caden looked at her with a smile.

"What are you trying to replace out?"

His playful tone brushed Alice's ears, light as a feather.

It left her feeling restless and uneasy.

Alice closed her eyes and turned over on her side, fidgeting with the blanket.

“I understand.

“Understand what?” Caden asked, gently playing with her hair.

Alicia hesitated, her emotions in turmoil.

“Tell me, what kind of room did Yolanda and I share, and how many times…” she trailed off, not wanting to finish her sentence.

Caden's mocking tone grew more persistent: "A honeymoon suite on the top floor, with every luxury you can imagine.

"

Alice's heart sank, but she tried to mask her emotions.

"Oh.

I've never stayed in a honeymoon suite.

I should try it sometime.

"

Her comment seemed to touch a nerve in Caden.

He stirred, his voice high-pitched.

“What is this? Have you become bold after the fall? You were so shy when I installed a mirror in the living room, remember? How shy would you be in a real bridal suite?”

Alice laughed softly, trying to deflect the tension.

“With someone else, I might be more adventurous.

Caden’s smile instantly disappeared.

His hand on her waist tightened, and his voice turned low with frustration.

“With someone else?”

“Yes,” Alice replied coldly.

“You seem very much in love with Miss Moss, don’t you? I don’t want to intrude.

After all, there are plenty of other options.

He sneered, brushing her hair aside to stare intently at her neck.

Alicia felt the heat of his gaze, her blood stirring under his attention.

Still, he persisted and asked, “Is the suite expensive?”

Caden grumbled through gritted teeth.

“Why? Are you planning to experience it with another man in the same suite as me?”

Alicia raised an eyebrow.

“There may be cameras in places like this, but I’m sure the suite you stayed in was perfectly safe, right, Mr.

Ward?”

For a moment, Caden was speechless.

He cocked his head and then, without warning, bit her neck.

Alice writhed in pain, her vision blurred by the intensity of the pain.

He quickly released himself, licking the spot before she could regain consciousness.

Alice pushed him away, disgust evident in her eyes.

“How dirty.

Her entire body shuddered in response, her breathing shaky at the suddenness of his actions.

Caden replied, “Of course there are many other options, but after being with someone as skilled as me, who else could truly satisfy you?”

Alice snapped, "That's none of your business.

Mind your own business.

Sleep with all the women you like.

"

Caden’s grip tightened around her waist.

He pressed her hips forward, his voice low and commanding as he whispered in her ear, “Do you feel that? If I was with someone else, would you still have such a strong reaction?”
