Chapter 258:

“I don’t remember much,” Gerry admitted.

He hesitated, sensing that time was painful for the Caden of today.

He was reluctant to share those memories with Alicia.

Alice spoke frankly.

“You know about Lina, right? She needs optimization.

I’ve found that her main flaw is a lack of emotions.

If I can understand how she used to love Caden, I think I can fix this problem.”

Cliff interjected, “Is Caden aware of this?”

Alice cleared her throat and took a sip of water.

“No, and I’d appreciate it if you didn’t mention it to him.”

Gerry teased her: “Are you planning a surprise?”

Alice replied, “Not exactly.

He’s helped me a lot, so it’s only fair that I return the favor.”

Gerry thought it might be a public display of affection.

Ever the hard-nosed one, Cliff didn’t think much of it.

He simply offered his advice to Alicia.

“Before Caden was seven, most of his joyful moments occurred in Averibon, his mother’s hometown.

All of Caden’s fondest memories are tied to that place.

If you really want to help him, you should visit it and replace out the truth for yourself.”

Alicia had some free time lately, so she decided to plan a trip to Averibon.

She hoped the trip would last at least a week.

To hide her plans from Caden, she made up an excuse, telling him that she had to go on a business trip for a couple of weeks.

Caden remained silent on the phone.

Alice touched the phone and asked, “Hello?”

Hearing her voice, Caden imagined her cocking her head to the side in confusion.

The thought made him smile.

Alicia knocked a few more times, but when there was no answer, she repeated “hello” over and over again.

She sounded like a child who had just learned to talk.

Caden laughed out loud at her persistence.

Alice snorted and said, “Can you hear me? Then why don’t you answer?”

Caden's voice came out hoarse as he replied, "I heard everything you said."

“Then at least make a sound,” she growled.

Caden rubbed his temples as he sighed.

“I’m just exhausted, Alicia.

I really want to see you.”

Alice felt a bitter taste in her mouth.

She smiled despite herself, and a question ran through her mind: did he miss her? However, she had never expressed such feelings before, so the words stuck in her throat.

Instead, he asked, “Have you been able to eat?”

“No.

Your food is the only thing I want,” he replied.

Alicia's cheeks flushed red.

She had always thought that sweet words were cheesy and lacked sincerity.

However, after hearing Caden say those words, his sensual voice warmed her heart and captivated her.

He sighed softly.
