Chapter 46:

? ? ? ? ?

Alicia laid it all out, finally putting an end to Monica's suspicions.

Monica laughed. “Look, a lot of men may lack personality, but a lot of them have good bodies. If it's just physical, don't hold back. “Pleasure is something you can pay for.” It was like hiring a gigolo. There's a guy for every fantasy.

Alice sighed in frustration. “This all started because of that damn gigolo.”

Because of him, she had ended up in the wrong room, sleeping with the wrong man.

And now he had to deal with the consequences.

A sudden thought crossed his mind. “Hey, could the drug Lilliana gave me any side effects?”

"Biologically and medically speaking? No," Monica replied.

Alice was not convinced. "I don't trust him."

Monica looked puzzled.

It was at that moment that Alice made a decision.

Alicia kept her thoughts to herself, not daring to tell Monica yet. She was afraid that her friend's impatience would lead her to something extreme, like bringing two men into her bed just to "help."

Monica broke the silence. “Now that things have calmed down a bit, don't you think it's time for us to make our move?”

Alicia stated: “I plan to contact attorney Jeffery Benson. At the same time, I will begin gathering evidence to use against Joshua and Lilliana for defamation.”

Monica raised an eyebrow. “Jeffery Benson? He's hard to get. “I’ll see what I can do to help with that.”

After finishing the call with Alicia, Monica came back to reality and decided to call her father, Lennon. Their recent cold war had prevented them from speaking to each other and tension was in the air.

When his phone ranged, Lennon was secretly glad to hear from his beloved daughter. He replied coldly: “Oh, so you’ve remembered that you have a father, have you?”

Monica murmured, "Dad, I'm going to eat today. I've been craving that special dish of yours."

Lennon scoffed and said, “You think you can just turn up and I'm going to cook for you? “I’m not going to cook you anything.”

At noon, when Monica arrived, the table was overflowing with dishes, it looked like a Christmas feast.

“Wow, Dad, you've really done your best!” I have joked. “This could feed us until Christmas,” he added, chuckling.

Lennon proudly brought out his signature dish, still steaming and cooked to perfection.

Monica smiled and offered him the first bite, taking him by surprise.

Lennon's mood softened at the gesture. "Look at you, acting all grown up. I used to be the one trying to get you to eat."

Monica hesitated for a second and then said, “Dad, you know Jeffery Benson, right?”

Lennon was about to take a bite when he stopped, sensing something suspicious. “Why do you mention that?”

"I need you to set up a meeting with him. Alicia is going to file a lawsuit."

He put the piece of meat back on his plate. “I knew you had an agenda!”

Monica playfully tossed the meat back onto his plate. “Oh come on, Dad, you're the best! Help me! I’m even offering you meat, so you have to say yes!”

Lennon raised an eyebrow. “I’m the one who cooked this up!”

“Dad, I beg you!” Monica pleaded. “Please help Alicia. “I owe her my life.”

Lennon looked confused. “How did a young girl like her manage to save your life?”

“Hey… remember during exams? You always helped me cheat. If you hadn't helped me, you would have killed me for those horrible grades. Isn’t that enough to save my life?”

Lennon stared at her for a second before jumping out of his chair, grabbing some branches from the nearby vase. “Damn it! Better late than ever. Now I’ll give you the beating you deserve.”

Monica took off, dodging him as they ran around the house.

When they both finally fell asleep, Monica sat down, her tone serious as she pleaded, "Dad, Alicia is my best friend. I really need you to help her."

Watching his normally stubborn daughter humiliated and begging for help, Lennon felt his resolve weaken.

Lennon let out a deep sigh. “You always come to me with the most difficult requests. Six months ago, Jeffery signed an exclusive contract with someone overseas. “Now he only takes cases for that client.”

Monica raised an eyebrow. “Who the hell would hire a lawyer of his level? Who has that much influence?”

“Caden Ward,” Lennon said simply. “I'm sure you've heard of him. If you want Jeffery’s help, you’ll need Caden’s approval first.”

Monica sat there, stunned into silence.

Lennon added: "I can't really do anything about it." Getting Alicia to approach Caden for help seemed a remote, almost impossible possibility.

Monica knew she would have to have this conversation with Alicia face to face.

They agreed to meet at a specialty restaurant.

Before they could begin, Monica's attention was drawn to the gym across the street.

“My God,” she gasped. Even through two layers of glass and across the street, the sight of countless well-endowed men was mesmerizing. “This place sure knows how to pick a spot. Good food with muscled men. What more could you ask for?”

Alice laughed.

"No wonder it's always packed. Who wouldn't want to be surrounded by handsome, muscular men?"

Monica watched her for a moment longer, then fell strangely silent. She took off her glasses to see better. Alicia's curiosity increased as she saw the change in her expression.

"Who are you looking at like that?"

He turned to follow Monica's gaze and her smile faded.

Oh no.

It was Caden.
