Silas' POV:

The days flew by quickly. We already had Hendrix in our hands. When Lucas found out that Hendrix was behind all this, we could not let him get away. I followed him every day to capture him in the act. His black market transactions, under-the-table requests, and bribing of officials were all photographed. It was not easy to spy on and catch him in the act. He usually did all this quickly.

From my information, Hendrix was one of the werewolves with more heightened senses than other normal wolves.

Maybe luck was on our side. My wolf Hopi said.

sure hope so. Because if I'm caught, we're all dead.

No, you won't. Hopi is an optimistic wolf. He always has positive thinking. And that's why I was able to survive all these years.

But hurry up, Silas. I want to be with my mate. It has been days since we lay in bed together.

I know! My duties as Beta these days do not stop.

I miss Lola. Me too.

Lola and I's relationship has grown in the past couple of months. When we first arrived, she was timid. But as we soon got to know each other, she became comfortable with me. We get to go out occasionally, but usually, I am swamped with work, which she understood. She, too, would be busy with her studies.

"How were your classes?" I asked during the first week.

"They were great! It was fun!"

"Fun?" I found it funny that someone would replace studying fun.

"Yeah! I learned a lot! Will attending an actual school be like this as well?"

"Well, there will be more students, teachers, and subjects.

So it might be a little less fun..."

"That sounds great! Oh, I want to go to school, too!"

"We can arrange that."

She looked at me with wide eyes, squealed, and hugged me.

"Really? You'll do that for me? I can seriously go to school?"

"Hmm. I will ask Lucas for approval, of course."

"This means a lot to me, Silas. Thank you!"

She was happy all of her days in the chateau. The girls were always together - watching movies, shopping, and cooking. They all get along well, especially Cory. So, when she got home one day from her 'date with Cory, I was surprised to see her down. It was very unlikely for them to argue, so I wondered

"Hey, what's wrong?"

She did not answer or look up. She was in our room, legs close to her chest, hands on her face, and elbows on her knees. I held her shoulder and gently shook her. "Lola, tell me. What happened?"

She hooked her head to say no. That night, I didn't get an answer from Lola. But also that night, I learned why. Cory and Lola were out in the afternoon, and they bumped into someone from their past. Chloe. Immediately, I knew the reason why Lola was acting like that. Not many know, but the incident in the Midnight Moon pack was because of Chloe. She was the one who harmed and put Lola in a hospital bed. Lola told me everything that happened that night.

"Chloe went to my room, looking for Cory. She was mad, and I don't know why. She kept asking, 'Where is that s/*t?!' and saying, 'I will kill her when I replace her!. I know how to cope when they get hysterical, so i did what I usually do.

Keep quiet. But I think it agitated her more. She started hitting me over and over again until I was out. I thought it was over that day, but luckily, Cory and Lucas found me.

When I recovered, I found out the reason why Chloe was mad. She knew that Cory and Austin were mates. And she didn't take it well."

It broke my heart when she told me that. She couldn't tell Cory because she knew Cory would feel bad and blame it on herself. And when Cory was kidnapped, it took a toll on her. She was not able to sleep or eat properly. She could only get her energy back when we had ensured Cory's safety. But everything was far from over. That witch was the hardest to replace. She goes from here to there, leaving no trace behind.

We are currently on our way to Agnes' village. We were alarmed that she was not answering Tommy's call when we were still looking for her daughter. The way to her village was about 15km from the palace.

"Did she contact you after you left the village?" I asked Tommy.

"No. It was completely quiet after I dropped her off."

"Try calling her again."

"I did. But no answer. It was just ringing."

"Where did you replace Agnes, by the way?"

"I went to the same village. When I arrived, I talked to their village priestess and asked who could help. Agnes was there. And when she heard the name Elisha Bewer, she immediately perked up." "Do you think the priestess will be there? They might help us locate Agnes."

"Unfortunately, I don't have their priestess' number."

"We will just have to see when we get there."

It took an hour for us to arrive at the village. When we got there, Tommy requested to speak to their priestess. They led us to where she was.

"Priestess. It's Tommy. Do you remember me?"

"Yes. The wolf who visited us a few days ago. What can I help you with?"

"We are looking for Agnes. Do you know where she is?"

"Who's Agnes?"

"Wha-what do you mean? She's within this coven. You were here when she volunteered to help us the other time."

"Do you mean the young woman?"

"Wha-? No. She was an older woman between her 60s and 70s. She's not a young woman. You saw her."

"I am sorry, young Wolf. But there was no older woman here that day."

"She was an older woman, like a granny, whitish or grayish hair, wrinkles. You know." I felt Tommy getting agitated.

"I don't really know who you are talking about. I have everyone's files here."

"Priestess. I am Silas-Beta of the Kingdom. We had a witch who helped us to look for a friend. And we're looking for her because she seems to be in danger. She was not answering our calls. Can you help us?"

"I can help you, but I tell you, young wolves. There is no Agnes here. No one fits that description. Most of the witches here left home or those whose parents died. And usually, once they reach 21, they set out to look for their soulmate." "Then, who was the one who approached my friend here?

Who was with you that day?"

"That young woman has been in the coven for only a few months. She's relatively new here. Hold on, let me get her paperwork, and I believe she has a photo attached to it.

Give me a second."

She stood up, opened and looked through her drawers, and sifted through the folders. Whoever this woman is, it would put Lucas in a frenzy! This would be a big blow to us if the woman was not Agnes. Then, who was she? Were we deceived? "Oh! Here you go..." She looked at the paper to read the name. "Her name is Sheila Weber."

SHEILA WEBER?! Tommy and I looked at each other at the same time. Sheila Weber or Elisha Bewer. She was with us all this time, and we were all played by her magic. No one saw this coming.

"Where is she? Where is Sheila Weber?!"

"My goodness. Calm down, Wolf."

"She's the woman we're looking for! She's wanted, priestess!"

"She, uh, she left a few hours ago. When she got back there, she immediately packed her bags and left. When I asked her, she told me she needed to look for her father." "Her father died years ago!"

She was completely stunned to learn about this information. We were all tricked by Elisha. She's also more powerful than we thought.

"Priestess. Can a witch change her appearance and choose only those who can see her?"

"Only a powerful witch or wizard can do that. And that is something forbidden. It uses a lot of dark magic."

"How do we counter it? Is there anything we can do?"

"There's no way to counter it. Only the witch who cast the spell and the caster's death can remove the magic. But I can give you amulets to protect you and your friends."

She took out a couple of bead-like and insect-like charms.

And she handed it over to me and Tommy.

"But is there a way to help us track or at least identify that it is her?"

"I might have something in here...Ah! The evil eye! Here. The evil eye sees everything. Hold onto it, and it will open your third eye. You will see who amongst you is planning to do evil. Be careful now, wolves. And don't trust anyone outside of your circle. This witch is good at covering herself and fooling everyone."

We thanked the priestess for her help. Tommy hadn't talked much yet after discovering the witch deceived him. Neither of us could believe what happened. I don't know how to explain this to Lucas. If he replaces out that we let the witch enter the chateau, everyone will be dead!

We went on with our journey back home. I am just hoping that these charms will help us catch Elisha and will help calm Lucas down. Oh, goddess, help us!
