The Wife I Never Met -
Chapter 29
The following day when Ciara woke up her body was in so much pain that she even thought her joints could be separated at any moment. She had wrapped up everything she had to do at work and because of that, there was no need for her to go to the office, at least not until new years.
She lazily took her phone to check the time and found that it was still 6 am, so she buried herself with the bed covers and continued sleeping. She was never a morning person to begin with, so sleeping at this hour came naturally for her and the light coming through the big windows in her room did not bother her one bit.
It was not until almost lunch that she woke up, although her body was still aching, she felt much better than she was when she first woke up in the morning. And could at least walk properly now.
When she got down stairs she found two middle aged women going up and down, busy with the house chores.
It could be seen from the uniforms that they were wearing that they are housemaids, it’s just that she never knew they had them. Which is why she would always clean up after herself. The house is always clean and now that she saw the maids, everything just makes sense. Why would a very busy man, a Billionaire at that, do the house chores when he could hire someone for that.
She greeted the two women before returning back to her room to wash up, she just couldn’t let people see her in that state, even if those people were helpers.
Just as she got out of the bathroom her phone started ringing, it was a call from Liam, so she answered immediately.
“mhmm”.
“are you awake?”
“yeap, just finished taking a bath, what’s up?”
“I’ll send Larry to get you, let’s have lunch together.” that was not a question nor was it a request so Ciara had no room for to decline. She found herself looking at the now dark screen and sighed. She only planned to stay home the whole day, and now she had to dress up.
Knowing the kind of person Liam is, she knew that they would probably go to a high end restaurant, so she had to look her best, at least for Liam’s sake.
She went through her closet and checked out some of the dresses she had, then settled for a semi formal dress as they were just having lunch nothing more. She then went on to pick her red bottoms matching heels, did her light make-up and tied her hair up in to a bun.
Satisfied by how she looked, she smiled at the person reflected by the mirror. She then took her bag and left the house along with her empty stomach.
Larry was already waiting in front of the car when she got out of the house, they greeted each other then he opened the door for her to get in the car.
Today was a very hot day almost reaching 40 degrees Celsius. She was greatful that Larry was thoughtful enough to open the air conditioner, to cool down the heat. Year end was her favorite time of the year, it’s more lively and there’s a lot of things to do, entertainment wise but the heat that comes with it, is definitely not what she wants.
During the drive they spoke about more random things, but through the conversation she learned alot about Larry. He was not just a driver or an assistant to Liam but he was his most trusted right hand man. To Liam he was everything, he was an all rounder, the only subordinate who was also involved in Liam’s private life, that’s how much he trust him.
She noticed that the car was not going toward any restaurants she knew but toward the city’s business district. She figured it was probably because they’ll be fetching Liam.
The car pulled up in the underground parking reserved for the president. This time she did not have to go through the receptionist but Larry took her straight to the private elevator. When the receptionist recognized Ciara she tried to be all active and greet her with a huge grin as if she was never rude to her before.
Ciara ignored all the receptionist’s enthusiasm and only nodded.
When they got to Liam’s office they found that he was still in a meeting so she had to wait for a minute or two before he walked in with a huge smile on his face. He was just happy to see his wife and mesmerized by her beauty. He then took his jacket and led Ciara out of the office all the way to the parking lot, they then drove to the outskirts of town, toward the mountains. The views were only filled with greenery through out the trip, soon a huge house surrounded by a forest came to sight. On the gate of this property was written ‘mountain valley of peace’ it was indeed serene.
This whole place gave off the feeling of comfort, being whole and contentment. It was just a great feeling.
They were soon welcomed by a very friendly couple, which showed them the way to the dinning area where they’ll be eating but didn’t stay that long with with. The couple soon excused themselves as they had things to attend to.
Left alone in the huge dining hall Liam and Ciara chatted for a while before Liam announced.
“Don’t wait for me tonight, I might come back a little late. My mom invited me to dinner with the family. “
” Is it a blind date? “
