Once they were done with their chit-chat, Liam excused himself as he still had some work to do, tomorrow is a holiday and he’s supposed to be relaxing at home with his loved ones but here he was working his but* off so that he can provide for his family.

He opened his laptop and started typing something, it was quiet in the office room and only the sound of the keypads could be heard, he would from time to time look at the woman on the couch not far from him who had already fallen asleep. It could be because she was bored or maybe because she had over fed herself with all the food Wilson had ordered or maybe her body was exhausted from all the anxiety. When Liam was done for the day, he quietly packed up his bag and then gently woke Ciara up.

Now that the time had arrived Ciara kept sweating profusely, her nerves were on peak, although Liam had told her not to worry, she just couldn’t help herself. All the negative questions kept bothering her, ‘what if she doesn’t like me?, what if Maggie cares more about family backing and benefits?’

The questions did not stop, some were even ridiculous. As nervous as she was, she tried hard to conceal her nerves and stood up and went to freshen up in the break room, before following Liam to the elevator all the way down to the underground parking.

They then got in the car and drove straight toward the Jones family residence, throughout the ride no one said a word. Everyone’s mind was occupied by something, although Maggie had assured Liam that she wouldn’t try anything funny he still wasn’t sure how well they would receive her, he was hoping that everyone in his family would like his wife but also if they don’t, that’s also fine he would just protect her from them.

Ciara on the other side was just anxious, she hadn’t dined with people from the rich society in quite a long time and she was very sure that how she carry herself now is way too different from how she use to when she still lived with the Williams, she was scared that she would embarrass Liam in front of his whole family.

As Liam’s mind was also occupied by his doubts, he couldn’t say anything to Ciara’s to encourage her. All he could do now was to hold her hand tightly to show his support for her, and that was all Ciara needed.

As the car moved faster on the road the forest trees on either side of the road were also on the move. Flashing fast on the car window showing off its greenery, but soon a huge house or mansion which was well decorated came to view. Looking at the decorations alone one would think that there was a party held at that house, but in this case it was just a dinner party. One could say that it was to welcome the new bride to the family.

When Ciara and Liam alighted from the car, they too noticed the extravagant decorations and looked at each other.

“I know you said she’s giving me a chance to prove myself, but this gives me a feeling that it’s one of your blind dates party, and maybe she’d organized other female singles just incase I don’t make the cut.” Ciara voiced out her concerns but her words rendered Liam speechless. He didn’t know whether to cry or laugh.

” she’s not like that, you know. She only did it because she thought I was single. ” he then smiled at her in attempts to make her feel better or at least lift up her mood. Just when Ciara was about to say something, the family butler came to welcome them in.

” young master Jones, young mistress. Please do come in Madame is awaiting your arrival.” he bowed to both of them as a sign of respect and then went on to lead them in to the house, towards where everyone was seated.

As they walked close and closer to the family Ciara’s heart pounded louder and louder to a point where Liam who was very close to her could clearly hear it beating.

“Ciara Williams!! is that you?” shocked Maggie walked up to the couple while holding her wide opened mouth in disbelief, tears filling her eyes. She couldn’t believe that she was busy looking for a mate for her beloved son and here he was with his own wife in front of her which turned out to be Ciara Williams.

” Aunty Mag!” Ciara’s eyes were also brimming with tears, she too couldn’t believe that the person she feard the most and was worried wouldn’t accept her as a daughter in-law turned to be someone she knew well.

Seeing the reaction of the two people, everyone in the room were surprised and shocked that the 2 knew each other, even Liam himself couldn’t believe his eyes. Now everyone except for Liam was wondering how the two knew each other considering the fact that Ciara didn’t look like someone from the upper class.

Although her clothes were nice and presentable, but they were not custom made or designer clothes. Only the working class would wear what she had on that night. And even how she carried herself wasn’t with pride like how those rich people would, so it was easy to believe that she came from an average family.

” owh my God, how long has it been. Look at you now, look how beautifully you’ve grown. How are your parents doing? . I haven’t seen them in almost 10 years now.”

Every time someone mentions Ciara’s parents, the pain in her heart becomes clearly visible and it wasn’t any different now. Maggie clearly saw the change in Ciara’s mood right after she had asked that question.

” Well I’d like to believe that they are both doing well, I haven’t seen them for some time now.”

With Maggie’s experience and wisdom she could see that there was something wrong happening in Williams family, but now was not the right time to prob her for information. So she decided to change the topic. The purpose of this gathering was to meet Liam’s new wife and get to know her better, and that’s exactly what she wanted to do. Other matters would be dealt with some other time.
