To Be Yours Again novel (Jenny and Alex) -
Chapter 1005 Delusional
After Alec was some distance away, Gilbert finally spoke up and asked Jenny, "You should know what it means for you and Evan if you choose to take care of him for the rest of your life, right?"
"I know." Jenny nodded and turned her gaze away from Alec's back.
"Maybe we're just not meant to be," she added.
In fact, Jenny was ready to accept Alec's confession and become his girlfriend. She hadn't expected this turn of events.
Gilbert sighed. He used to be opposed to Jenny getting together with Alec. But now that they really couldn't be together with each other, he felt a little saddened. Perhaps it was because this wasn't what Jenny had chosen voluntarily.
"I still hope you think it over carefully. There are many ways to repay him. It's not necessary to resort to such an extreme arrangement," Gilbert advised. To him, this kind of lifelong commitment was far too much.
Jenny understood what he meant and nodded in agreement. "I know. Gilbert, you should go back to work now. Don't worry about me. I can handle this."
Gilbert wanted to say he didn't have the mood to worry about work right then, but he knew Jenny was also upset and probably didn't know what to do. "Okay, I'll take my leave now. Take care of yourself." Gilbert didn't say anything else. He thought he should contact a doctor first; maybe there was still hope.
After Gilbert left, Jenny stood at the door for a while. After finally calming down, she turned and walked back into Evan's ward.
He was sitting by the bed and looking at his phone. When he heard the door open, he put his phone away and greeted her, "Jenny, is everything okay? Are you feeling unwell?" Then, he shook his head and smiled wryly. "I just wanted to tell you that I was joking about you taking care of me for the rest of my life. You don't have to take it seriously."
"Don't worry about it, Evan. I know what to do. You just focus on resting and recovering." Jenny smiled. Whether he was joking or not, she'd already made her decision.
Evan looked at her and didn't say anything else. He wasn't surprised by Jenny's response. He knew she had a strong sense of responsibility and would never leave him to his own devices. If it weren't for this, his plan today would never have succeeded.
At Faust Manor, Zeke noticed that Alec reeked of alcohol and furrowed his brow slightly.
"Why did you suddenly decide to come back? I thought you had no intention of returning to the Faust family."
"How is that possible? I'm ready to take over the Faust family," Alec sat on a chair and glanced casually at Zeke, not taking him seriously.
Since he was unhappy, he wanted to make others unhappy by dragging them down with him.
"Take over the Faust family? I'm afraid that's not something you can do now," Zeke sneered.
"I have already handed over the Faust family to Yakov. Even if you are capable, you don't have any shares of Faust Group. As long as I refuse to, the Faust family business won't fall into your hands."
"Is that so? I think you'll personally hand over the Fausts' business to me sooner or later." Alec smiled at the old man, his eyes full of confidence.
Zeke's brow twitched as he felt uneasy. "You're delusional!"
"Yakov is not capable enough, and you know that better than anyone else. The Fausts' current mess cannot be cleaned up by Yakov, and he will even make the situation worse. You should be more aware of this than I am."
Alec didn't mind what Zeke had said. Right now, he was just stating the facts.
