To Be Yours Again novel (Jenny and Alex) -
Chapter 1052 Did You Make a Wish?
As the clock struck midnight, fireworks were launched into the sky, bursting into bright, colorful blossoms. Jenny happily admired the view, quietly making a wish for herself. Her wish was for Evan to be able to walk again.
"Did you make a wish yet?" Stephanie asked.
Jenny nodded. "But I can't tell you what it was."
"I understand. It won't come true if you do. I made my wish too." Stephanie grinned, staring up at the beautiful light show.
After it was over, the guests left one after the other. Stephanie got into Leonard's car, waving goodbye to Jenny. "Bye. Happy New Year, Jenny!" "Happy New Year!"
The villa soon cleared out, leaving only Alec, Jenny, and Evan.
Alec ignored the man and went straight to Jenny. "Happy New Year, Jenny."
"Happy New Year." Jenny grinned. "Oh, wait for me one sec."
Jenny ran back to Evan's place, grabbing the gift she'd gotten for Alec.
Alec didn't know whether to laugh or cry as he watched her run in, glancing at the gift he'd prepared for her.
Jenny soon returned with a gift box. "Here, your New Year's present."
"Thank you. I got you something too." Alec handed her his gift box.
Jenny beamed at him as she held it. "Thank you. We should get back now. Get some rest."
"Okay." Alec nodded.
When Jenny and Evan went back, she was presented with another present. "Happy New Year, Jen."
"Thank you, Evan." Jenny had already given him his gift, so she didn't have any to hand in return right now.
"Goodnight then." Evan nodded.
"G'night." Jenny went back to his room, excited to see what present Alec got for her.
Evan watched as she shut the door, face darkening immediately.
"Make the necessary preparations," he murmured, much to Howard's surprise.
He swiftly understood what Evan meant. "Right away, boss!"
Meanwhile, Jenny first unwrapped Alec's present for her. It was a silver ring with a pink diamond embedded on one end. In the box was a card reading, "I hope I can put this on you myself one day, Jenny." "Silly," Jenny murmured fondly.
She tucked the ring away, then opened the present Evan had gotten her.
It was a red cotton scarf. "Festive!" Jenny thought.
She could tell how considerate of a gift this was. It wasn't fancy or expensive, but it was functional.
Jenny wrapped it around her neck and went downstairs to replace Evan in the living room. "Thank you for your present, Evan. I love it!"
Evan smiled when he saw her wearing the scarf. "I'm glad you do."
"Go and sleep soon, you hear? We have to wake up early tomorrow." It was customary to wake up early on the first day of the new year here in Bardoff City, after all.
"I will." Evan nodded. He didn't have the habit of sleeping in anyway.
As Jenny closed the door, Evan finally calmed down.
He couldn't let someone so wonderful leave him, could he?
