Chapter 470 No Wonder

Jenny felt that she got her work cut out for her. She wouldn't be here testing the waters if she knew everything.

"Although I know everything, I still want to hear it directly from you. After all, I always thought you were genuinely kind to me." She looked at Old Mr. Faust with a deep gaze.

He felt unsettled being looked at like that. At first, he'd arranged for Alec to marry Jenny with a specific purpose in mind. Later, even he couldn't tell whether he wanted her to be his grandson's spouse because of her identity or truly accepted her as his granddaughter-in-law.

Now, telling her these things seemed to be meaningless.

Old Mr. Faust sighed and didn't doubt what Jenny had said. "Jenny, since you put it that way, I won't deny it any longer. I did arrange for Alec to marry you because of your identity."

Jenny had an indescribable feeling in her heart, but she wasn't too sad. After all, this was something she'd expected.

"Is my identity that attractive to you? The Fausts are already quite powerful in Parrington." Not only were they influential, but they could also even be considered one of the high society families. Was a marriage alliance necessary for a family like that?

Old Mr. Faust chuckled and thought Jenny was too naive. "While it's true that the Fausts are influential in Parrington but compared to one of the Ten Elites of Bardoff City-the Walters-we are still far behind." Jenny was shocked to hear that, but she didn't show the expression on her face. After all, to Old Mr. Faust, she should have known about everything.

"The Walters, huh? I see," Jenny thought.

When she'd previously investigated the Ten Elites of Bardoff City, she'd looked into the Walters and even suspected she might be a daughter of that family. That was an easy assumption to make since among the Ten Elites, only one had the surname Walter.

However, everybody said that the parents of the Walters were very loving, and they had a daughter. In view of that, how could she possibly be the daughter of the Walters?

She had too many questions, but she didn't rush to ask them all at once. Instead, she slowly said, " Since I am the daughter of the Walters, why did I grow up in Orchid Village? You should know something about that, right?"

"I'm actually not too sure," Old Mr. Faust answered, shaking his head. Nevertheless, he still told Jenny what he knew, "I heard that when your father and mother were together, the Walters opposed it. They all thought your mother was unsuitable for their family, so when your mother was pregnant with you, she was attacked by people hired by the Walters. You almost lost your chance to be born into this world." "What happened after that?" Jenny asked, feeling that she was getting closer to the truth.

"Later, your father probably thought bringing you back to the family was dangerous, so he sent

you to Orchid Village. Your grandfather was an attendant who'd been with your father since he was young, so your father entrusted you to him. He indeed lived up to your father's expectations. and raised you well."

After listening to Old Mr. Faust, Jenny didn't know what to say for a while.

"So, my father has known of my existence all these years? She'd always thought she somehow got lost from her family.

Old Mr. Faust nodded, but he wasn't very certain. "I think he knows; otherwise, where do you think your mentors came from? Your grandfather was just a servant of the Walters. How could he have the ability to contact so many powerful people for your sake?"

"No wonder!" Jenny exclaimed internally. At that moment, she finally understood everything.

"Since he wanted to keep me hidden, he wouldn't let too many people know of my existence. In that case, how did you know?" Jenny looked at Old Mr. Faust, her gaze full of scrutiny.

Old Mr. Faust looked at her helplessly and sighed. "You suspect too much."
