True Love -
Chapter 23
-You must stay calm,” Dom told him.
-But she causes that in me, you know it’s inevitable.”
-You’re like this because your heat is coming.”
-It’s more than that Dom, I love her with all my being.”
“I know, but you also have to blame it on your desire to mark her. But it’s more than clear that you won’t be able to do it” – “I know, but you have to blame it on your desire to mark her.
That left him thoughtful, a werewolf could mark another of his own kind, but he would never kill an ordinary human from the pain. So he was somewhat disappointed to learn that his mate was a mere human, he would never get to have that bond with her.
That important bond that all couples have. It made him angry to know that she would be his, but anyone else could claim her as theirs simply because she didn’t bear his mark. How would he survive without being able to fit his fangs into the back of her neck? It tormented him every day since he found her.
-“Don’t worry, even if you don’t have the bond, you’ll be very close.”
“It’s not enough for me, I want it all.”
“It won’t be possible.”
“What if we try?”
-I won’t let you hurt her, she’s mine, I won’t let you bite her,” his wolf said angrily.
-You and I are one, remember, she’s mine too Dom”.
-Biting her means killing her.
The boy didn’t say anything else, he kept walking down the path that led him to the girls. He knocked on the door, and they were both anxious to see her again. But they were disappointed to see Eve greeting them.
-Hey strange boy, come in.
-Thank you. When he sees her his face lights up and he smiles sweetly. -Hi Shery, how are you?
-I’m fine, thanks, and you?
-Better now that I see you recovered. She gets extremely excited, she can see it clearly.
-Well guys, what are we going to do? Eve asks ruining the moment Ethan thought.
-We’re leaving now. I see you’ve gathered everything.
-Yes, we are ready. Answers the youngest one.
-Then let’s go.
-How far is it?
-Not very far.
The three young people left the place and set off for Ethan’s house. The girls were curious to know where this strange boy lived. In spite of the first impression, the other times he always dressed very well, impeccable and very neat. He looked like a rich kid or something.
Soon they began to hear people’s voices, so he didn’t live alone in the mountains. They came to a clearing, and there they saw another village rising up, so to speak. It was not the same as where they lived, this one was better, the houses were very nice and big. The only difference was that the road was dirt, there was no asphalt. I doubted that this village existed on the maps.
There were many people around them looking at them in surprise, what was wrong with them, were they not welcoming outsiders? She was getting uncomfortable with the situation, and she noticed that her sister was feeling the same way. The two of them came together to support each other.
By surprise Ethan grabbed Shery’s hand and squeezed it, the contact electrified her. She was stunned and what was going on around her was now of no importance to her. Only the hand that held hers was all she could think about.
-Calm down. He said smiling, she blinked rapidly. Her heart was about to burst out of her body. She trembled.
They walked up to a huge two-storey building, one of the few huge houses she’d seen since they’d arrived. They went inside and at last he felt calm without so many stares, since when was he holding his breath? Hell she was sweating when it was freezing cold outside.
She was fatigued, and still Ethan’s hand held her. She didn’t feel good at all, her head was spinning and suddenly nothing. Everything went dark and she slumped.
She stirred, the feeling of softness was exquisite under her skin, the scent was super rich, it smelled like fresh lavender. Was it a dream, was it a dream? He never remembered sleeping in a place like this. She opened her eyes suddenly, startled, and sat up with a jolt. Then she remembered what happened, she felt sick and then she couldn’t remember anything else.
She was alone in a very beautiful room. Where was Eve? She saw her coming out of another small room drying her hair with a towel.
-Hello sleepyhead, are you alright?
-What happened?
-You fainted. I guess from the shock. Your boyfriend’s sister took care of you, she said you’ll be fine.
-He’s not my boyfriend.
-He didn’t look like that when you were holding hands. She said laughing. She was looking for something in some drawers, she was in a towel.
He had been the one who had done it, she was innocent of everything, of course she didn’t let go of his grip, but she still didn’t see him as her boyfriend.
-Then you’ll keep them at home until dad gets back, what a good idea. You know how many people you’ve caught the attention of. Rumours are already spreading that there are two human girls here. His friend JB said irritated.
-Megan already gave me the speech, it looks like the two of them have come to an agreement.
-I know you’re tired of hearing it, but it’s the truth, brother.
-I’ll take all the blame, you have nothing to worry about.
-Ethan, that’s not the point. The point is you can’t keep them in the house. At least keep them in the cabin in the meantime.
-That’s impossible. The wolves are keeping a close eye on them, they already know someone lives there, I’m not going to risk it.
His friend shook his head, they were both in Ethan’s father’s office. Ethan’s father was settling some unfinished business before the Alpha arrived. He didn’t want to get any more lectures for not doing his duty, and having two humans in the house at the same time. The house was permeated with the scent of girls, but he only cared about one. He was carrying him like crazy, it was amazing how much he wanted to go upstairs and be by his side all the time.
-I need you to take care of some land issues for the construction of the new pack shelters that are coming up. He said in a serious tone.
-Well, what should I do?
He explained everything he was to do, specifying that in the middle of the circle of houses they were to build a special one for the princess. It was his father’s orders. It had to be a little bigger than the others. He thought it was stupid, but it was orders nonetheless.
His friend left, he would do his job well. One less worry. He looked back down at the papers and a rather familiar, rich smell hit his nostrils, he immediately got hard and thought that was a problem, he couldn’t be getting aroused every time he smelled her. And it was all due to his horniness. She knocked on the door.
-Come in.
-Hello, am I interrupting? She said with a smile that drove him crazy.
-Come in. What can I do for you?
-I wanted to thank you for bringing us to your house, I hope we won’t cause you too much trouble.
-You’re welcome. And don’t worry, that won’t happen.
-Don’t your parents live here?
-Only my father, my mother died many years ago.
-I’m very sorry. She said sincerely. -And your father is not at home?
-He’s on a trip, but he’ll be back tonight.
-That makes me nervous.
-Don’t worry, I’ll talk to him, he’ll understand. She smiled a little at him. – Are you comfortable?
-Yes, thank you. He looked at her and wondered why she had gone to see him? Just to thank him because it didn’t look like it.
-Do you want to tell me anything else?
She looked down at her legs and pressed her lips into a thin line. She was nervous, she didn’t know how to ask him what was stuck in her throat, was it a good idea to ask? Or was it better to leave it at that? At last she looked into his face, and his eyes had that special gleam in them that she had seen when he had kissed her in the stream.
-That’s all. She said at last, getting up from her chair so quickly that she didn’t give him a chance to follow her. She left the office almost running.
He smiled at her attitude, she was embarrassed and he could already imagine what she wanted to ask him. But he would leave her alone until she wanted to broach the subject herself. He sighed deeply. She had to finish her work.
Meanwhile at Daren’s house, where the Loon sisters had previously lived. Steven was on the verge of rage, he had trashed most of his daughters’ room. The rage had blinded him, as he didn’t count on the girls running away from home leaving him in a heap of trouble with his boss.
He knew they would kill him, Daren was a dangerous guy and he wasn’t happy with him at all. The fact that he wasn’t looking after the girls was clear evidence that his end was near. Through the window he could see how he was being watched by Franchesco and Italo. Those guys were a menace, he couldn’t run away even if he wanted to.
They were in the car day and night. Running away from home didn’t seem like a good idea, but where would he go? He didn’t have a penny in his pocket. If they caught him running away they would kill him long before his time. If only he knew where those kids were, he thought, maybe if he threatened to kill one of them and negotiated, he could get out of there alive.
