True Love
Chapter 39

Daren was definitely crazy, he had lost his mind and was just obsessed with her. If he said he could kill her, he didn’t doubt it, but why didn’t he just do it? If she wouldn’t do anything he asked her to do.

-Then go ahead and think about doing it, because if you don’t finish me off, I’ll do it myself.

-Oh no! Of course I won’t, you’re too valuable to me. Don’t think it ends like this.

He moved over to the side of the bed. The truth is, she thought she was going to faint, and in front of that idiot, she wasn’t going to pretend to be weak. But Daren didn’t let her, and he grabbed her good arm. He was cunning, he didn’t want to hurt her, he needed her to recover so he could continue doing his barbarities with her. But why?

-If you make another attempt on your life. You’ll pay for it. And so will your little wolf.

She opened her eyes wide, no, not Ethan. One more victim, one more loss she couldn’t bear. Least of all him, who was so good to her and her sister. He wouldn’t let anyone hurt her.

-I can see you care a lot about that fucker. Then I’ll take that in my favor, if you do anything stupid I’ll kill him. Daren said viciously. There was sincerity and cruelty in his gaze.

-I won’t do anything. Said the young woman at last in surrender.

-That’s it! That’s how I like obedience. He said reluctantly releasing her.

She walked to the bed and sat up, feeling nauseous and dizzy. She was not well, she needed to sleep longer to regain her strength, although she had no idea what she would regain it for if she didn’t leave that room.

-In a little while they’ll bring you something to eat, and you’d better eat something because if I replace out you didn’t, it’ll be bad for you.

She looked at him with contempt, she hated that he thought he was the master of her life. And that he made of it what he wanted. Someday someone would give him what he deserved.

-You know I don’t give a shit if you hate me. I don’t care about your feelings, Shery. The only thing I’m interested in is f*****g you and keeping you locked up here, cut off from everyone, from the world, and smashing your pride into a thousand pieces.

-You’re despicable!

-That’s what characterises me Shery. That’s why I have so much power.

-Someday you’ll pay for all the damage you do.

-When that day comes, you’ll go with me to hell! She laughed at him.

He left the room and slammed the door, startling Shery. Her life was doomed to Daren, the day he died that day would be her death too. She would have her precious freedom.

(…)

It was night at Ethan’s house, and it was cold as hell. Of course he was a wolf and his b***d was warm so he didn’t feel the cold like ordinary humans. But still, he could feel the cold breeze coming through his bedroom window. He had left it open in the hope that he could smell Shery if he could escape. Apparently she was good at it.

Whereas he felt like a good-for-nothing, he couldn’t replace her. There was no sign of her in the village, let alone this Daren guy. How did he hide her scent? He pounded on the wall in desperation. Since Shery had been kidnapped he hadn’t slept at all, the only thing he did was lie in bed thinking about what kind of atrocities his girl might be going through.

-Don’t worry, we’ll replace her.

-Maybe I won’t replace her alive, Dom.

-Don’t be pessimistic, she’s still alive. She’ll fight to live.”

-It’s her insides that I’ll replace dead, Dom. It’s what I’m afraid of.

“The wounds will heal.”

-I want to see her. I was too careless.

-You couldn’t have known they were looking for her. Don’t blame yourself.”

Ethan did blame himself, for his carelessness she had been taken and his little sister had died. He would never forgive himself for Eve’s death, he should have protected her and above all watched over her. He had to know she would go after his sister. Why the f**k didn’t he see it coming? He was so focused on Shery that he forgot about the rest. He got out of bed and sat down at the window. There was a big full moon outside, illuminating everything in its path.

The scenery was beautiful, from the first floor of his house he could admire the pine trees on the mountain and the snow-capped peaks. The air smelled of ice, it comforted her soul but without her mate by her side nothing was the same. He heard noises downstairs making him alert, those smells. He rushed downstairs before they slipped away.

-Ethan! What are you doing awake?

-What are you doing coming in at this hour Megan?

-Well I…

-JB you can go out behind the door.

His friend peeked out with his hands in his pockets as he made a thin line with his lips.

-So you two…

-Brother I can explain.

-Well for the mix of smells on you, you don’t need to say much, I’m thankful you haven’t marked her yet. The Alpha wouldn’t have liked it.

-Ethan…” His sister reproaches him, blushing.

-I want Megan, I want her for me. His friend says confidently.

-Well, I hope you’ll leave the f*****g aside.

-He will! the brunette growled.

-We’d better all go to sleep now. Says the boy. -But you at home, hard face. He points his finger at his friend.

-Of course! I don’t expect your father to take my head off.

The boy says goodbye to the brunette with a k**s on the lips and a bear hug. Then he nods goodbye to his friend and leaves the house.

-Until he finally proposed to you.

-Did you know? Did you know I was his mate? His sister confronted him.

-Hey, stop the car. I didn’t know, ok, I suspected it. Besides, it’s none of my business.

-I’ve been waiting a f*****g year for it. -I’ve been waiting a f*****g year.

-It’s not my fault Megan.

She heard the click of her sister’s tongue, she was angry. But it wasn’t just the two of them anymore. Deysi had come down to the kitchen where the brothers were.

-They’re so noisy! she said reluctantly, wearing only a nightgown that didn’t leave much to the imagination.

-You should change your sleeping wardrobe, albino. Megan said in a harsh tone.

-I sleep as I please. The she-wolf growled.

-What? repeated the chestnut growl.

-Stop it! I don’t want a fight at this hour. Ethan stood in the middle.

There would be no peace in that house, too many women together under one roof.

-What are you doing here, Deysi? You should be asleep.

-I came to talk to you. The albino replied once they were alone.

-What about? Ethan folded his arms waiting for an answer.

-About us.

-There is no us Deysi, you must know that.

-What I can’t understand is why you’re still impregnated with that human. Maybe you’ll never see her again.

-I’ll replace her, Deysi. And if that’s what you had to tell me then I’ll go to sleep.

-Ethan.

The girl took him by the arm and without expecting it, she brought her lips close to his. Ethan was taken by surprise, but that k**s didn’t take as long as he could feel anything. He pulled her away and with a frown said to her.

-Don’t do that again!

The young woman looked at him puzzled because her k**s had not caused any kind of reaction in him. Ethan turned and walked back up the stairs to lose himself in the darkness of the stairs.

-What a difficult wolf,” his inner wolf said to him.

-He doesn’t like us, I think we’d better leave it at that.

-You’re crazy, I liked that k**s. I love that wolf.

-But he doesn’t love us”Stop the car, will you, we still have a way to go!”

-That’s enough!

Deysi ended the conversation with her wolf, they never agreed on anything. Sometimes it could be a real nightmare, the only thing they agreed on was when they were training, the rest was a hopeless case.

(…)

After a couple of days, Shery was recovered from the physical injuries but not the internal ones. Her pain was increasing and she did not know how to control the feeling of abandonment by her sister. She cried every now and then, the guilt would not let her be calm even for a minute.

She always remembered the last thing Eve had said to her in that strange dream, Ethan is waiting for you. She tried to hold on to that little bit of hope. But every day she spent in Daren’s house as his prisoner made it harder for her to hold on to that illusion any longer.

The door to the room opened suddenly, letting in an annoyed Daren, when not. He was angry all the time, and the worst part was that he was taking it out on her. It had been days since he’d slept in the same bed and he was grateful for it. It disgusted him terribly to share the same bed. The wretch hadn’t even bought her any clothes, and she had to wear his.

-I see you’re feeling better, eh?

-Why? Are you waiting for me to recover so you can abuse me?

-Yes. -I’ve been wanting to f**k you for days.

-You fucker!

Daren laughs, it’s so rare to see him do that. If it had been under different circumstances and he wasn’t a son of a bitch, you could say that Daren was an attractive man. With an enviable body and a panty-wetting smile. An intense gaze that would melt any woman, not to mention his virile member. But unfortunately, he was a despicable and evil being.
