True mates Book Two of Ozark Wolves -
Chapter 4: Truth or Dare
The males grabbed their plates and beers then headed to the stairs to their room also on an open floor plan. Each settling on their respective bed. “Who’s winning?” Rick asked into a set of earphones he put over his head adjusting the microphone. “That is awesome. Yeah I am just tuning in had some family stuff to do.” His portion of the room was all done in greys and greens.
Quincy to his right put on a set of headphones of his own and took up at the desk with a computer with a spreadsheet on it. His portion was done in blues.
William to the far left had his own earbuds in and he was working at a architect's desk. His ruler working as his tongue stuck out while he did measurements and then adjusted with pencil he had behind his ear.
She sat there in awe of how well they worked and played together. How well they got along in general. The triplets she was used to dealing with were bullies and mean. A set had tried to take her but she had kicked their asses quickly, ran to her room and locked her door. Once they had recovered they had cornered one of the other single girls. She had known this by the screams and cries of the girl down the hall. Alexandria had brought this to Father but he had said the boys had chosen and it was none of his concern.
The girl was pregnant with in two weeks. Alexandria saw the girl leave. Bruised and frightened. When she had asked Father had said that the girl was taken to the facility for expectant mothers and would be back by the end of the year. She never saw the girl again.
No male had tried to approach Alexandria after the thrashing she had given the three. But they had not been as big or as capable as these three. She sat in the chair afraid to move. She had never been scared in her life as she was right then. She had always been tough and cold except with the children. Nothing had ever truly scared her. These three and their mother put the fear of the Moon in her.
William glanced up from his drawing board. She was still sitting there. She did not even have food or drink. He frowned. The dom in him kicking in. Damn foolish females. He set down his utensils and took out his earbuds. She had to be starving. Moon knew when the last time she ate was. He walked slowly down the stairs. Her eyes widening with fear. So that was it. "I won't hurt you, little one." He said soothingly. "You need to eat. Come on." He held out his hand to her but she did not move. "Truth or dare?" He asked. It was his favorite game and it usually worked to put a female at ease.
"I do not understand," she replied. Shaking her head slowly.
"It's a game. Usually played by females at a slumber party but I like it." William explained. Her confused look made him laugh. Alexandria was struck by how nice the deep rich sound was. It washed over her like a blanket. "You choose truth or a dare. The truth is something that is well true about yourself. The dare is I dare you to do something. So. Truth or dare?"
"Dare," she answered automatically. She did not want to give away any truths about herself. He grinned.
"I dare you to take my hand." William replied holding it out to her once more. She took it with a lot of hesitation. He pulled her to her feet and walked with her to the kitchen where he released her and pushed her to make a sandwich. "Make a sandwich, little one." He said barring the entrance with his body.
She looked at the ingredients left on the counter then selected her bread and mayo from the three different types available. "Good choice. The bread is Quincy's favorite. The mayo is mine." William encouraged. "Keep going." She spread the mayo and added all three cheeses and meats to her sandwich then opened the fridge for mustard. "Interesting. I did some research into mates of multiple Alphas. It was said repetitively that the female had traits that matched each Alpha in her personality."
"Are you saying I have three different personalities?" She asked skeptically.
"No. That you have three different tastes but all of them make the perfect sandwich for you." William grinned. "But first there is the whole thing of the woods that we need to work through." He paused to let her take a bite of her sandwich still barring the doorway so she was forced to eat there. After she swallowed he asked again. "Truth or dare?"
"Dare," she said. His grin became mischievous and she wondered if he had made the wrong choice.
"Rick, Quincy, come down please," He called to his brothers.
"But Will the Sonics were just about to score. Nevermind," Rick said with a grin. The two males joined their brother.
"I dare you to sit at the dining room table and tell us about your childhood." William said his gaze levelling on hers. "In turn we will share ours." Her mouth dropped open. That is what he wanted? To get to know her? "We are curious given that we know that you are not from any pack here in North America or Canada."
"How would you know that?" She asked. How much did they know of her father. Of the facility.
"Because the females we have met during the Gatherings every year both here in America and in Canada do not cut their hair." Rick replied. "At least not as short as yours."
"So take the dare or give us a truth. Recent truth." William said bringing the group back to the original subject.
"Fine," she acquiesced. "I will take the dare."
"Excellent." The three males moved from the doorway to allow her to pass and followed her to the dining room. Rick grabbed a plate and set it down under her sandwich before she could set it on the table. As before they took up their spots at the table across from her. William on her right. Rick in the middle and Quincy to her left.
"Not much to tell. The compound I grew up in was huge but mostly had children. One adult and we call him Father. My brother was much older when he died. I was devastated and poured myself into my studies to deal with the pain of the loss. I was three when he was killed. He used to let me sit on the tire well of the car that your mother had driven here when he was working on it. Telling me how everything worked. I finished the repairs on the car in his memory." Alexandria replied. Not giving away a lot but enough.
"Your brother was one of the males that attacked us." Rick said following the line of logic there. She was telling them she was out for revenge without actually saying it. She looked at him in wide eyed horror. "That explains the woods." Then he grinned. "Sorry to disappoint you, love. Mother and Father learned a lot from that little mess."
"So you groomed yourself for revenge. Mother is going to love that." Quincy chuckled. "Who is going to hide Mother's weapons?" The other males looked horrified and shook their heads vehemently.
William got serious again. "What was never clear is why they had come here for our mother to begin with. She was already mated and pregnant."
"Father did not know that until the package arrived. He was just as upset as I was with the contents. But also by the letter. 'You lose'. Then a letter addressed only to him. I never read it." Alexandria replied.
"That definitely sounds like Mother. Joseph told me once that after seeing her that day there was not a chance that he would ever cross her. She told him to jump off a cliff he would replace the nearest one." Quincy grinned. "I believe him. I have seen her take Dad down a few times when he crossed the line."
"You're right. I have seen them sparing. If Dad goes in for a shot that she did not like she gets mean." Rick laughed. "I think he does it on purpose though."
"Your turn," Alexandria said as she took a bite of her sandwich.
"Pretty normal, for triplet werewolves. The Grands spoiled us. Mother and Father taught us. Respect, discipline, love, humor." Rick replied. "They wanted us to each aspire to our personalities. To be one but also different. To lead effortlessly and defend seamlessly. William is the bowman. I like the throwing knife. Quincy is like Mother. There is not a weapon you can't put in his hands that he does not master in a day." She stopped chewing as this all sunk in. She never stood a fucking chance. They were correct on that.
"Any weapon?" She asked after she swallowed.
"Yes, even shooting guns. Though I detest the noise." Quincy replied. "What are proficient in?"
"Guns, hand to hand, and knife." She replied ticking them off on her fingers.
All three grinned at hand to hand. Rick rubbed his hands together at knife. Quincy leaned forward. "What do you say brothers, too late for a wrestling match?"
"It is since I have not finished my sandwich." Alexandria replied fear hit her hard in the gut. The brothers expressions changed immediately.
"Why are you so fearful?" William asked. "If we had meant you harm we could have at any point."
Do not tell them. That will never happen so it is none of their business. She lowered her eyes. She could never tell them of the three on one. "Someone hurt you? Or tried to?" Rick asked going straight to the problem. The tension that emanated from the three males was impressive. They were furious on her behalf. She had never had anyone care like that before.
"Six years ago. I kicked their asses. They moved on to a weaker target. She was never seen again after they got her pregnant." Alexandria replied. Not sure how in the hell Rick had guessed.
"I got Mother's intuition. Makes me good at reading people and understanding the mind. My major was psychology." Rick offered to her unspoken question with a warm smile. "You can't hide anything from me, love."
"You have our word, Alexandria. None of us will touch you without your permission." William said. His voice serious. "Respect, that is the first thing our parents taught us. Respect for ourselves and others." He looked at the old clock on the wall behind her. "It is late. Finish your sandwich and go to bed. We have much to do and discuss tomorrow." He rose and the other two followed suit. Each wishing her a good night.
She sat there again stunned. Was it her or had William really been upset by her confession. They returned to their pastimes as she finished eating. Then she went to the kitchen and rinsed her plate. She looked at the mess of the kitchen and reached for the bread bag. "I said to bed. We will take care of that in a bit." William's voice said from the top of the stairs where his drawing board was. Her feet moved on their own. Fuck Alphas. He grinned at her disconcerted look. "You can try and fight it but it hurts like hell. I know. I tried it with my mother once. I had a headache for three days."
"No joke. That shit hurts. Dad did it to me once. Holy hell." Rick added in holding the front of his in remembered pain.
"Try from both at the same time. I thought my head was going to crack open. I was being a dick that day. So I deserved it. But still. I never made that mistake again."
"Your mother is Luna. How could she have that trait?" She asked as she moved up the steps.
"Our mother is a Sigma. A rare thing for females. She has the capacity to be Alpha, omega or beta. I think she gets a kick from the Alpha power she has." Quincy replied. "Go to bed, Alexandria. There is plenty of time for more talk tomorrow."
