Chapter Nineteen: Should You Guys Move Out?

11is wealth of experiences combined with a natural charm made him stand out, yet he remained approachable to those who worked with him.

Isabella, usually reserved, found solace in observing Alexander and James conversing so effortlessly. Having been out of work for over three years, she was cautious about her words. However, witnessing their camaraderie brought her a sense of comfort.

Noticing the time, James proposed dinner. “How about I treat you both to dinner?”

Alexander exchanged a glance with Isabella and politely declined. Sorry, we’ve got important plans tonight, but let’s plan something soon.

Understanding their situation, James nodded. “Sure, I won’t hold you up then.

Alexander cherished the opportunity to bond with Isabella’s children. With gifts in hand, symbolizing his hope for acceptance, he bid farewell to James, anticipating the meeting with Miles and Amelia. They arrived at the house earlier than expected, carrying the carefully chosen presents.

As the door swung open, Amelia dashed toward Isabella, her exuberance evident. “Mom, you’re back so soon! Did you miss me?”

Meanwhile, Miles eyed Alexander with a mix of curiosity and wariness. Having heard about

Alexander being their father, he stayed back, uncertain. Alexander sensed Miles’s apprehension and gently placed the gifts down before approaching him. “Hey, Miles.”

Meeting Alexander’s gaze, Miles replied with a reserved “Hi.”

Isabella, holding Amelia, moved closer to ease the tension. “Kids, this is Alexander, your daddy. I know this is a lot, but I wanted you to know.”

Miles remained cautious; growing up without a father made him wary. Despite his reservations, there was a glimmer of hope as he tentatively reached for a hug.

Anxious about their reaction, Alexander embraced Miles with a sense of relief. He knew that their youth might make them more open and trusting.

Andy, displaying a wisdom beyond his years, expressed his confusion. I don’t get why you weren’t here before, but I can see Mommy likes you. I’ll try to be okay with you too.

Understanding Miles’s feelings, Alexander reassured him. “It’s complicated, and I’ll explain. everything when you’re older.

Meanwhile, Amelia driven by her curiosity, gently touched Alexander’s face. “Mommy, is he really our daddy?”

Isabella affirmed, “Yes, he is. Would you like a hug from him too?”

Eagerly nodding, Amelia exclaimed, “Yes!”

Growing up, Miles and Amelia were often recognized as children without a father figure. Their mother never showed her pain, but it was clear to them that it did hurt. Now, with a father in their lives, those days of uncertainty were finally over.

Observing Isabella and Alexander together, Miles felt a sense of acceptance toward this new situation. Isabella, relieved by the kids‘ easy acceptance, had anticipated a difficult conversation that now seemed unnecessary.

As Alexander was engrossed in gifting the kids, Sofia walked in, feeling a tad envious. “Why don’t you just move out? Seeing your happy family every day is getting a bit much for me.”

Focused on the presents, Alexander retorted playfully, “Get yourself a boyfriend, and you could have this too.”

Sofia shuddered at the thought. “I’m not cut out for domestic life. I prefer my independence.

Isabella grinned. “Never say never. The right person might change your mind.

Sofia, half–jokingly, urged them to leave. “You’re moving too fast. You’ve only been together for a day. You should get your own place. I can’t handle seeing you together all the time.”

Amused by Sofia’s dramatic reaction, Alexander teased, “What if I buy the house next to yours? You’re welcome for dinner anytime, and it’d be good to have Isabella close by.”

Although Alexander’s work usually involved a lot of travel, he had recently found more time to spend with Isabella and the kids. Isabella agreed to the idea, feeling a bit awkward to keep living in the same place. However, she insisted on using her own money from selling her villa, not wanting to depend on Alexander. They were just dating, and she didn’t expect him to spend so much on her.

Sofia nodded in agreement, “Alright, but keep close. I don’t mind dropping by for meals, but it’s tough seeing your family together every time I come home.”

The next day, when Alexander suggested buying a house, Isabella immediately declined. Seeing her firm stance, Alexander abandoned the idea and redirected his attention to playing with the kids. Sofia relaxed on the couch, wearing a facial mask. “What’s happening with your house?” “I’ve let Alexander handle that. I’m not entirely sure about the details,” Isabella replied.

Alexander, deeply engrossed in playing with the kids, chimed in, “Let’s wait for now. Finding a reliable buyer is crucial.”

Sofia nodded, reminiscing about selling her apartment near a college. “Even after reducing the price, they thought it was too expensive. It was unreal compared to the market.”

Isabella understood, having a frugal mindset herself. “Some buyers always perceive it as costly, regardless of the price. Saving money is their priority, and that’s okay if you don’t understand it.”

But Sofia disagreed slightly, I was so frustrated, I refused to sell to them. They caused issues at my parents‘ place, and my folks had to intervene.

Isabella grasped the importance of a wise selection, So, choosing the right buyer is essential.”

Sofia gestured for Isabella to join her, enjoying a moment of relaxation with a facial mask. Observing Alexander’s playful interaction with the kids, Isabella felt a surge of warmth, a sensation she never thought she’d experience. This surreal scene made her pinch herself to confirm its reality.

Sofia, noticing Isabella’s joy, smiled. “Are you excited about what’s to come?

“Yes, I truly am looking forward to it.”

“Alexander will make a wonderful husband.” Sofia had always been cautious about introducing people to Isabella, considering the challenging times she had gone through. Now, seeing her friend so happy, Sofia leaned forward. “So, when’s the big day?”

Isabella sighed. “We just confirmed our relationship last night. Why are you more eager about this than I am?

“It’s evident. The kids already adore Alexander, don’t they?”

Isabella pondered Sofia’s insight. She realized that good preschools often preferred children from two -parent families. As a single mother, marrying Alexander might be necessary for the kids‘ education. However, she hesitated, not wanting to rush into things or seem too eager.

Sofia noticed Isabella apprehension. “What’s bothering you?”

“Just feeling overwhelmed. Everything’s moving so fast.

“Take a breather. Things are moving in a positive direction, aren’t they?”

Isabella nodded. “Yes, I need to take a moment to relax.”

Sofia’s reassuring words helped Isabella relax. Initially worried about how her situation might impact Alexander, she found reassurance in his unwavering demeanor. His consistent presence provided her with a sense of safety and comfort she hadn’t experienced before.

After tucking the kids into bed, Alexander mentioned, “It’s getting late. I should head back‘

Sofia chimed in teasingly, You could’ve stayed over, you know.”

Isabella shot her a mock stern look, cautious about rushing into things with Alexander. Sensing her hesitation, Alexander replied, I think I’ll head home for now. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Charlotte accorted him to the door. “Drive safely, and let me know when you get home.”
