Twisting Her Fate -
Chapter 114
Lani grips Evie's hand tighter and pulls her away from the mess, away from Terrance's grief, away from the happy yet devastating family reunions that are going on around them. "What is it?"
Evie hasn't known Lani for long, but she knows her well enough to know that Leilani doesn't struggle with words, yet she seems hesitant to speak now.
"Now, what I am about tell you, just know that it is temporary, we just need to try and work out what is going on. Also, know that this doesn't mean that you are abandoned in anyway" "What is it?"
Evie's free hand wraps in the fabric of the clothing she is wearing, her grip on Leilani is tight and she is nervous.
"For now, there is no one coming for you. We don't know why. As I said, we don't know much more about your case than your disappearance and the large-scale search that proceeded. We do not know what is going on with the two packs now" "How could it be possible?"
"I truly don't know, but you are not going to be left behind, you are going to be cared for and when things are cleared up"
Tears roll down Evie's frighteningly pale cheeks. She knows what Lani is saying but there is nothing that will gloss over the fact that all the other girls have grieving families here and she has no one.
It's hard to believe that a large-scale search even happened when they are not even willing to see her now to give her a pack back, a home back.
The information shatters her to the core.
Evie thought she was suffering before but this has put another whole dimension on it. It hurts so much. Evie is well aware that she is broken. She is well aware that she is a burden and the knowledge that she is going to have to take more time out of this group's lives. But she has no way of doing this on her own. She can't even handle being away from Lani's grip at all. Needing that constant comfort. She has no money. She has no skills. She doesn't even know what's going on in the world in the time that she has been away. Four years may not sound like a lot, but the world can progress so fast in that time.
Evie just feels like a scared little girl thrown out into the big bad world without the parents protection that she was expecting.
"You are strong. You don't need anyone. Okay, look at me, I understand how you are feeling. I understand what it feels like to be alone, but understand that you are not truly alone. You were in there. You are not now" Leilani gestures to her own brothers.
"They are truly good guys. I trust them with my life 100%. Look at all the girls around you. They know what you've been through. There is other support. There is other networks. You just have to be brave enough to take that first step. I know you can do it. I can see that power within you. I can see that strength even if you can't see it in yourself"
"I can't feel any strength Lani. I don't know if I can do it by myself"
"And you never have to replace that out. It is never you by yourself. Don't let these things affect you. I could have glossed over it but I wanted to tell you the truth so you weren't waiting in hope and get more upset with every second that passed. If you were weak I would have never told you. I would have made up some sort of story"
Leilani pulls Evie into her embrace.
"One step forward at a time, are you with me?"
"I'm with you"
Leilani laughs and presses Evie's cheeks in, smooshing her face isn't the easiest task because she has little to no excess fat on her.
"I said, are you with me"
Leilani is not usually so peppy, but it is the only way she knows how to get through to a girl that has no source of happiness. She just has to take her mind off it anyway she can.
"I am with you"
Evie's voice is a lot more confident this time. The area is starting to get a lot more crowded now and Simon's body is still just in the mess on the ground. Lani keeps her speech light and happy around Evie in an effort to keep her spirits up, but links her brothers with anger.
Why is nothing fair in this world? None of these girls deserved this, Terrance didn't deserve this and now what the hell is Evie's family doing? Will the atrocities never end? Why can't anything just be happy and easy? It is all Simon's fault!
'Does Terrence have anything to give Simon that will keep him out for a long time?'
'He had something prepared to make Simon hurt before, so I assume he's more than willing to hand that over now'
'Good because I want Simon to hurt. I want him to hurt so badly. I didn't know it was possible for some one single person to be so vicious, give him whatever he needs. Make him hurt, but keep him alive. Tie him up and put him in the back of the car. No one needs to see him. We will work out what to do with him later. Right now, it is all about the families reuniting. I don't want him to be a distraction from that, retribution can come later'
Terrance comes back to life for a brief moment to hand over the vial of fiery red liquid. He has never been so glad to make someone hurt. Arlo and Finlay are the ones to tie Simon up in a way that he has no chance of escaping and in a way that he will feel nothing pleasant about the experience. Simon is tied in a way that makes all his joints are on the verge of popping their sockets and one wrong move will do just that.
Leilani holds Evie close as the families start to approach her with unbelievable appreciation and many thanks, Leilani is humble in receiving such praise as it was not just her. It was a team effort. It is always a team effort with the group.
She still doesn't really feel like they deserve any of this praise. They just did what they do in any other one of their jobs. They just put in their all and looked at it from a different angle.
She doesn't feel like she deserves praise for putting herself on the line at all. While it was pivotal in getting this and the result, she doesn't feel like it is particularly important or impressive.

Gabriel turns to face his father. His own canines are extended and a deep snarl comes from between his gritted teeth. His hands that were gripped against the table trying to keep his wolf at bay, now have claws that extended by themselves, ripping deeply into the stained timber surface.
All he wants to do is rip his own father to shreds. That is what his alpha wolf is demanding. His wolf is not even seeing as much threat in the man that is about to take his place. His wolf is not against Ryan. It is all on his father. If Gabriel gets rid of one son who says there is another, closet lover, another abandoned child. How many offspring does the promiscuous man have out there? He did well enough hiding this one for nineteen years.
"No I am not handing over my title, I am already the alpha, I am sick of you dictating things to me. You handed over the title but you have just kept sticking your opinion in where it isn't needed, you can't have one foot in one foot out at all times. You handed over the title, IT IS F*CKING MINE, YOU HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT ANYMORE"
"I say what goes around here, I gave you the title. I can take it away. You are my son. You have to obey me"
"I obey no one you crusty old f*ck"
"I will take what you did to the council"
"You are the one that did it, you were alpha"
"I did it because you asked, it doesn't reflect badly on me. It is all you"
"Whose name is on the form? Whose signature is on the paperwork, on the cheque?"
Lance has a deep constant growl which is matched by Gabriel's own.
"You are no longer alpha, your mate, your problem"
