Twisting Her Fate
Chapter 83

Leilani kisses Connor, embracing him tightly.

"I am going to see how Terrance is doing. You might be able to have your way with a gorgeous blonde soon"

"I just had my way with a gorgeous blonde"

Leilani puts on her clothes and Connor pulls up his pants and Leilani kisses his bare shoulder on the perfect tanned skin that she will mess up with a mark very soon. "My mate"

Leilani smiles, her stormy blue eyes coming to life as she radiates joy. She actually really likes the sound of that. Connor wraps his hand around the back of her neck, tilting her head up to him as he closes the gap between them. "All mine"

Connor's lips brush against hers, his intense gaze locked on hers.

"I love you Leilani"

Lani's hand rests on his chest just over his heart, feeling the steady powerful beat, the warmth of his skin soaks into her, his strong hands hold her tightly. "I love you too Connor"

Connor smiles, his heart leaping as he kisses her deeply. Lani breaks the kiss.

"I really have to go"

Connor nods even though he just wants to lock her in their room and never let her out. Leilani runs her soft hand down one cheek while kissing the other. "I will see you before I leave"

Connor watches as she rushes out of his office smiling to himself. Now their office, it won't be long before she is the official Luna of the pack.

Connor throws himself back down in his office chair, a large smile lighting up his face. His mate, his luna.

'Alpha, the alpha and Luna of the half moon pack are here, plus the luna and the future alpha of the amber pack'

Connor sighs, his happiness drifting away as he rubs his hands down his face. It is not that he wasn't expecting this sooner or later, but he hasn't been looking forward to it.

What he is looking forward to is going through the rejection so he can put this whole mess behind them. Even though he doesn't feel like he owes Maggie anything, he wouldn't feel right marking Leilani without first rejecting his fated. Connor laughs lightly at the thought. It is nothing like he thought he would ever do, but it all feels so right. If someone told him a year ago that this would be the path he would take, that he would reject his fated and take a chosen mate, he would get that person institutionalized, but now he can't think of anything he wants more. He never thought a rejection would be something to celebrate but it is, he is so excited for that next step.

Getting that large obstacle out of the way at the dawn of the confirmation of his and Leilani's relationship feels like a step in the right direction at the perfect time.

Thinking about it that way makes the whole process a lot easier. Knocking down one road block at a time until Leilani is officially his.

'Let them in'

Connor isn't worried about letting more than one Alpha into the pack. Even though Oscar has been rather odd, he doesn't seem like the type to attack unprovoked. He is not saying the same for Gabriel, but Connor would actually jump at a chance to fight the man. He knows that they are pretty evenly matched, but he also believes that he should be able to take down the man down.

The threat also made a lot easier to handle knowing that he has the squad close.

Even two alphas and two lunas that are travelling beside him are no match for the pairing of Lani and himself, his Luna by his side.

What a thought! His Luna.

Someone to always be by his side, someone to share the mental load. He is just so excited for what is ahead.

Connor pulls on a shirt. Not caring that his scent is intertwined with Leilani's. Not caring that he smells like s*x at all. He is actually proud of the fact. It's not like they wouldn't have known anyway, but not for much longer. The rejections will be done and they can put all this behind them.

With new motivation, Connor walks out the front of the house and waits for the car to arrive. As soon as the car comes into sight, Connor walks away from the pack house and into the large expanse of green grass and stands with his arms crossed across his chest. If a fight does result from the talks, he would rather that it is far away from the pack house as to not cause any collateral damage. At least in the wide open space, his pack members and property should be relatively safe. It's not even that he doesn't trust Gabriel. Maggie is not much better. If things don't go her way, she could just lash out again and that is the last thing he wants.

The vehicle pulls up out the front of the pack house, Gabriel has never been into the stormy pack. Any meeting between the two packs either happening at a neutral location or Gabriel making Connor travel to him. He was firmly under the impression that the half- moon was above the stormy pack until a week ago, so he believed that it was fair to make Connor travel thinking that the lowly alpha should cater to the superior one.

Looking at the pack now, the fresh facilities, renovated house, immaculate gardens and grass areas, he realizes that if he had taken the time to come out and see the pack he would have known not to be so smug.

But it isn't the pack house or the surrounds that annoy him at this moment, it is the man that is just standing in the field by himself, no back up at all, it is like he doesn't take Gabriel as a threat or doesn't take him seriously and Gabriel doesn't like either of those options, it confuses him slightly that Leilani isn't there. Was the ball all a farce? Was Connor actually with someone else just then?

Oscar is also looking out the window to the lone man, feeling disappointment surging. He has no interest in being here if he can't see Leilani. Astrid is still checking on Maggie, who has finally recovered from the ordeal. She has no idea about Gabriel's fated, no one has told her anything about it, she just thinks that they are at the stormy pack to talk to Connor. Astrid never wanted Maggie to reject her fated mate, but it has gotten to this point: rejection is the only way for Maggie to live a normal life. Astrid can't help but feel bad about the whole situation, it is just another failure to add to her life.

Gabriel stops the car and gets out without waiting for anyone else, just striding forward until he is standing in front of Connor. Gabriel sneers as he looks in Connor's eyes. "That lasted..."

Just as Gabriel is about to mock Connor for not being with Leilani, the breeze changes slightly and takes the heavy scent of Leilani that is coating Connor to Gabriel's nose. Gabriel, who was wearing a smug smirk, turns to a heavy frown. "What lasted Alpha Hutchin's?"

Connor looks at Gabriel with a raised eyebrow like he knows exactly what Gabriel was referring to and adopts a mocking tone to match Gabriel's own.

"Where is Leilani?"

"Ohh sorry, she isn't here right now. Do you have some sort of right to see her?"

"She is my mate"

Connor scoffs.

"The fact that you can say that without cringing just tells me how truly vile you are"

"Because you have been good to Maggie?"

Connor can only shrug.

"Does she deserve it?"

"Does Leilani?"

Connor chuckles harshly.

"It just proves how truly clueless you are, you are talking about two polar opposites. Leilani deserves the entire world, only good things. She never deserved anything that happened to her in your pack" "You didn't know her before, you only like her now because she is strong, she was nothing back then"

Connor feels bile rising, listening to Gabriel's words just makes him want to throw up.

"You think that the training made her what she is completely? The fact that the half-moon pack is still functioning is a miracle. You have no idea about anything"

Gabriel takes an aggressive step forward. Connor is ready to fight but his pose is still relaxed as he looks at Gabriel like he is an id*ot, even now the man has no idea what a treasure he cast aside.

"Don't talk about my pack that way, don't talk to me that way. You didn't know her then, she was so weak, she couldn't even look at me, she looked like a filthy beggar. You stand there now saying those words, but you would have done the same as me" Connor steps closer, they are both similar in height, both similar in weight, Connor's clean lifestyle has him slightly more defined. Gabriel is one year older than Connor and after Gabriel's spiral downward over the last few weeks, it has tarnished his good looks, whereas Connor is genuinely happy and has never been so well rested and content. The comparison between the two has one looking leagues above the other.

"I wouldn't treat anyone in my pack like that. EVER. She looked like a filthy beggar? Did you supply her with anything, did you give her a room, did you make her do an unreasonable amount of work? She was weak? Did you train her, did you give her a chance, did you say anything to spur her on? You think she changed out there? It was all in her somewhere. She just needed someone in her corner. You had a gift, you could have been that person, you could have found her, found your mate, you could have seen the blessing you received and she could have been everything you ever dreamed of..."

Connor pokes Gabriel in the chest, his canines slipping out of the confines of his lips as he snarls.

"...You had everything given to you on a platter, you had perfection ready at the tips of your fingers and instead of embracing it, what did you do? You sent her to die, you wanted to kill your gift. Instead of nurturing her and building her up to reach her potential, you took the cowards way out, you talk about her strength now, all that it tells me is that you were too blind to see what was just under the surface."
