Twisting Her Fate
Chapter 85

Inside the house, Leilani stands in the shower, letting the warm water run over her, her hand moving passed her own body wash and opting for Connor's, smiling happily as her fingers run over the place that she will be marked, feeling like she can still feel his hot So much has changed recently but she is in such a good place now, she walks out of the bathroom with just a towel wrapped around her body as she hears the notification tone on her phone, walking over and checking it quickly.

lips on her skin, his whispered promises infused into her.

X: 'Would you like to meet today? I have some free time and would love to see your beautiful face'

L: 'Sure I don't have any plans today, it would be good to have some company'

X: 'Does the Azure cafe suit? I don't know your exact location'

Lani quickly googles the location. It is a two-hour drive away.

L: 'If you give me three hours I can be there'

X: 'I will give you as long as you want. I just can't wait to see your beautiful face'

L: 'You are so sweet, I will see you there at 1:30'

X: 'Perfect, I can't wait'

Lani gags in disgust as she quickly gets dressed into a pair of tights and a red hooded vest, midriff sweater, leaving her hair out and hanging over one shoulder.

'We are on boys. Levi, we will be there soon. We have three hours to be at the Azure cafe'

She doesn't need them to reply, she knows that once a job is on they will drop everything else and make sure they are ready. Lani grabs a few of her more innocent looking sundresses and her extensive makeup kit, shoving it in a black shoulder bag humming happily as she does it, her mind still on Connor instead of the danger she is about to put herself in. It isn't because she thinks that it isn't important and that she won't give it her all, it is just for the fact that she is trained well enough to not be nervous going into it. If she works herself into knots, she will stand out. She is only meant to be a sweet girl getting a coffee, she isn't meant to look like she is ready to be captured nor ready to catch a predator.

Skipping straight out the door and toward Connor, she is in such a good mood, she is excited to see the end of this. She never thought much about having a mate, but now it is all she can think about. She just quickly wants to say goodbye to Connor, knowing that her brothers have already organized the car so there will be nothing holding them up.

Maggie stares at Connor and Gabriel from the side. How is it that Connor is winning in every department? Everywhere she used to go she always knew that Gabriel was the most handsome man. She can't decide whether Gabriel is not aging well or whether she was never looking close enough. She notices the elite squad coming to stand behind Connor, they are back and they are not aggressive, they just look like they are ready to oversee the situation.

The elite squad is dressed casually, all having their own style and they all look even more handsome than they did before, six men overshadowing the man that she has believed was supreme for so long.

Gabriel looks at the squad. If they are here, does that mean Leilani is close, is it all true? All his confidence is fading, he thought that it would be easy to come and face the couple, away from the pressures of the ball. Instead, he feels like he hasn't scored a win at all.

Maggie watches all the men. Not a single one is paying her any attention. For the first time, she doesn't say anything at all, just watching the two men who look like they are going to tear each other apart, but not saying a single word.

Leilani jogs over the expanse of green grass, jumping straight into Connor's arms, breaking the stare off between the two alphas. They both sensed her coming but neither took their eyes off each other. Connor catches her without a second thought and Gabriel is surprised that it is her first action.

Connor wraps one arm around her waist and places a palm under her a*s. Placing a possessive kiss on her lips, he nods with his head in the direction of the two.

"Look babe, we have some visitors to the pack"

He lowers Lani's feet back onto the ground, keeping his hands on her. She turns to face Gabriel and Maggie, rolling her cold and emotionless eyes, no expression on her face.

"Hmmm boring"

Lani looks back at Connor.

"We have to leave for a bit. Will you be fine?"

"I will be fine babe"

Lani kisses Connor once more, not paying attention to the others, like they are door to door salesman that are just there to annoy, like they are not important enough to greet, far from important enough to even fight with.

Gabriel just looks at Leilani, she is even more beautiful natural than she was done up, what is exposed of her body is perfection. She is not just skinny like Maggie, she is lean, she is strong and she is the s*xiest thing he has ever laid eyes on. Watching her interaction with Connor annoys him, but the way she just ignores him pulls on the strands of his sanity.

Lani turns back to Gabriel and Maggie.

"While I would love to have an argument with you two wastes of space, I have things to do. Schedule it in with Connor and I will be there"

Lani looks at Maggie.

"I look forward to kicking your a's again"

Lani looks at Gabriel.

"I look forward to a rejection"

Lani looks at Connor.

"I look forward to doing everything with you"

Connor laughs as he pulls her close, kissing the top of her head. Maggie just keeps massaging over her heart, the pain is making it so she can't even lift her left arm. Connor just looks at Lani with eyes full of tenderness and words full of affection. "Come back as soon as you can. I will deal with everything here"

"I will Connor"

"Be safe gorgeous"

Leilani kisses Connor on the cheek once more, slinging the bag over her shoulder as she waves to the lot, not sparing another glance at Maggie or Gabriel. They have had their lesson and she really doesn't care anymore. It felt good to make them hurt, but she has no interest in keeping this game going. It is done, all it needs is the official words of rejection. She isn't going to pursue Gabriel about what he did because she doesn't care. What happened is a lot better than what would have happened otherwise. A fate tied to that man sounds like torture.

She has her family and she has Connor. She won.

Lani looks over her shoulder at her brothers.

"Lets go boys"

Gabriel watches in amazement as the elite boys walk past him, throwing him a look like they are about two seconds from ripping his head off his shoulders as they naturally fall into formation around Leilani, her petite looking frame so out of place in their midst, but somehow it looks natural.

Gabriel nearly falls over. Isn't this all the confirmation that he was looking for? Leilani really is L, she really is the goddess that he heard about, she really is the leader of the elite squad.

Connor growls at Gabriel, who just keeps watching Leilani. Gabriel gets another look at Lani before turning his attention back to Connor.

"Don't you look at her, she is all mine"

Gabriel hates those words, the more he sees Leilani, the more something stirs deep down, a desperate want, an insatiable need, a desire so strong and so possessive, to hear the word mine come from Connor, frays those strands that are hanging onto his sanity. Mine out of Connor's mouth and the word rejection out of Leilani's perfect mouth, the mouth that should be singing him praises, the eyes that should be looking at him in awe. All this is so wrong, he shouldn't want her, but he does. The more she doesn't want him, the more his desire grows.

Does he want her or does he want the thrill of the chase?

"She isn't yours"

"Yet, Gabriel, you may be stupid and not treasure her the way she deserves to be treasured, but I am not about to let someone amazing like that out of my life. She will be mine soon enough"

Those words are just as much of a vow to himself as they are to Gabriel. Maggie watches Lani leave, no matter how many times she looks, she cannot even see that scared little girl in the magnificent girl in front of her. Lani looks so good. Maggie has never wanted to kill like she wants to kill Lani. She is shaking with fury. There has been too much going on and Maggie hasn't had a single win.

Watching Lani walk off with what she would consider her dream life is infuriating, watching Gabriel stare at Lani, watching Connor fall head over heels for Lani and watching all those boys listening to Lani, it is all too much to take.

She wants her mother to attack Lani or her brother to say something, but as she turns to look behind her, all she sees is the two with eyes firmly fixed on Lani.

"Ahhhh"

Maggie turns back to Gabriel and Connor, who are back in a stare down looking like a single movement will end in bloodshed.

"What the hell does that sl*t have? How can you all be so spell bound? She is just some b***h that f*cks anything that moves"

Connor turns to Maggie, finally paying attention to her.

"Don't project your own issues onto others. Maggie, I am so sick of you, I want this rejection done. The sooner you are behind me the better. The sooner that the goddesses mistake is rectified, the sooner I can be happy. I have my mate. I want nothing to do with you. If I never see you again, it will be too soon."
