“Dad, can I ask you a question?”

Emmett was taken aback, it took him a few seconds to nod

This was a first Aiden never usually initiated questions.

But it felt good

“Alright, let’s go to the study.”

“Okay!”

Emmett entered the study, and Aiden immediately placed his homework on the table.

It was a complex problem. It would be hard for an average kid to understand, but Aiden never gotbogged down by such questions.

Emmett glanced at him, “You don’t understand this?”

“Indeed, I really don’t.”

“Okay, let me explain it to you” Emmett didn’t think twice, he walked him through it.

Knowing that Clara was short on time, Aiden pretended not to understand, “Dad, I’m still a bitconfused.”

“Then I’ll explain it in another way.”

Aiden nodded, then suddenly said, “Dad, I feel really happy right now.”

Emmett raised an eyebrow, “Why?”

“Because now I have a dad and a mom! I can be like other kids, ask my dad questions, and sleep withmy mom! When I come home from school, I can see both of you at home, not just grandma andgrandpa like before.”

Aiden was taken aback, “I have a brother?”

“Just answer the question.”

“Are you and Ms. Calloway going to have another baby?”

Emmett shook his head, “No, what if you already have a brother, a twin brother, would you acceptthat?”

Aiden pursed his lips.

He felt like his dad was testing him, but also not. Even if his dad knew about Alex’s existence, heshouldn’t know that he had seen Alex.

So he simply shook his head, “Dad, I haven’t thought about this!

“I see” This was indeed a question most people wouldn’t consider.

Emmett smiled, “Then let’s continue with your question.”

“Okay!” Aiden smiled at him, “Dad, can you smile more in the future? I hardly see you smile. I think youlook most handsome when you smile” Hearing Aiden’s compliment for the first time, Emmett wasstunned, then couldn’t help but laugh.
