Yvette's body tensed up when she heard Zoey's name. Xavier could clearly feel the change in her body since he was holding her. "What's wrong?" She shook her head. "Nothing."

He frowned, and the great mood he'd been in earlier was ruined in an instant. "If you don't want to go, I can go myself."

"You heard what Viola said. Since I'm Jeremiah's sister-in-law, I should attend his engagement."

Xavier finally felt better when he heard her acknowledging Jeremiah as her brother-in-law.

When they reached home, they checked the gifts again. Then, Yvette plopped on the couch to rest.

After a short while, her phone rang. When she answered the call, she heard a familiar voice before she could ask who it was. "Yvvy, it's Jeremiah."

Yvette instantly tensed up. Although they'd met before, they'd never talked in private. After all, they both had their own lives now.

"Can I help you?" She had a lot of questions she'd wanted to ask him. However, she didn't manage to ask a single question at that moment.

"Can we talk in person?" he asked.

Jeremiah had wanted to see her multiple times. However, she'd rejected his invitation every time. So, he'd had no choice but to call her himself. He wasn't sure if she'd be willing to see him.

Thinking about how he'd helped her a lot when they had been young, Yvette couldn't bring herself to reject his request. "Sure."

"Just come out and turn right. I'll be waiting down the street," Jeremiah said as he looked at the house she was staying at.

She hadn't expected him to be there already. After hanging up the phone, she took her coat and left.

Xavier was still busy in the study, so

he didn't know she'd gone out. He

also hadn't expected Jeremia De

boldenough to come all the

here.

Yvette put her coat on and left the house with an umbrella. Since it was snowing heavily, everything looked white.

After she'd walked for a short while, she saw a black Maybach parked next to a simple-looking house.

She stopped in her tracks, not daring to approach the car for a long time.

The car's door opened, and Jeremiah got out of the vehicle. Then, he walked toward her without an umbrella; he only had a black coat on.

He'd driven himself there that day. If she'd been unwilling to see him, he'd planned to just go back and try again next time.

Yvette was in a daze as she looked at the familiar face. Jeremiah looked exactly like Xavier.

When he got close to her, her eyes started to tear up a little. Before she could say anything, he asked with a smile, "Don't you know me anymore?"

Suddenly, all her memories came

rushing back to her mind. The Xav from her memories had appeared in front of her once more, and she was speechless.

"I... O-Of course, I do." She was so urge nervous that she was stuttering. She'd been unwilling to approach him herself and ask her questions because she was married and even had children. She was also nervous and afraid to see him.

"Then, why have you been unwilling to see me? Also, why didn't you talk to me at the mansion?" he gently asked.

She didn't dare to look him in the eyes and lowered her head. "I was embarrassed." She didn't see his eyes slowly turn red.

"It's cold out here. Shall we talk in the car?" His gentle voice felt like the warm sun in the winter.

Yvette nodded. "Sure." Then, she followed Jeremiah into the car. Since the heater was on, it felt warm inside.

In the end, she couldn't help asking, "Could you tell me why you introduced yourself to me as Xavier back then?"
