Jeremiah was about to speak when Xavier walked right past him. He quickly asked the maid who had been inside what had happened. "Mr. Zayden got drunk, and he harassed Ms. Yvette. Mr. Xavier had him thrown into the river."

Zayden had harassed Yvette?

Jeremiah's eyes grew cold. "And no one stopped him?"

The maid shook her head. Facing the normally gentle Jeremiah, she explained, "No one dared to stop him. Everyone was scared."

"And Zoey?"

The maid scratched her head. "She must not have seen it happen."

Jeremiah immediately understood what was going on. How could she not have seen it? She simply didn't want to get involved.

He already didn't care much for Zoey, but now he felt a growing sense of disgust. How could Zoey pretend to not notice an incident like this at their engagement party?

Yvette followed Xavier back to their place. Knowing she was traumatized, Xavier held her tightly. "You don't have to go to places like that anymore. Just stay at home." Yvette was feeling a bit calmer now. She murmured, "Thank you."

She couldn't imagine what Zayden could have done if Xavier hadn't shown up today. Hearing her, Xavier reminded her, "Remember, we're husband and wife. This is my responsibility as your husband." When Yvette heard those words, she was no longer angry at Xavier for having someone follow and photograph her. "In the future, just tell me directly if there's anything. No more being indirect about it." Xavier knew she'd forgiven him. He immediately promised her. "Alright, I guarantee it."

Having clarified everything, Yvette got out of Xavier's embrace to go to the bedroom to rest. He stood up as well, wanting to follow her.

"You should probably sleep in the living room," Yvette remarked.

Left standing outside the bedroom door, Xavier felt somewhat helpless.

Meanwhile, by the freezing river, Zayden had been stripped of his clothes. He was shivering uncontrollably, and his lips had turned purple.

"I will remember all of you! Just you wait!" he shrieked.

When the bodyguards saw Zayden's defiant behavior, they realized he didn't understand the severity of the situation.

A few of them stepped forward.

dragged Zayden toward the icy water and threw him in.

"Ah!" Zayden screamed as he plunged into the water, unable to say another word. As he desperately tried to get out, the bodyguards repeatedly pushed his head back under the water. It was only then that Zayden realized Xavier truly intended to kill him.

"I was wrong! I was wrong! Tell Xav I won't do it again."

Hearing that, the bodyguards called Xavier.

Xavier, who was sitting alone in the living room, was in no mood to be merciful. "Don't stop! Make sure he suffers!"

He didn't care about Zayden. If the latter died, so be it.

The bodyguards followed Xavier's orders and continued their harsh treatment until Zayden no longer had the strength to beg for mercy. Without Xavier's command, they wouldn't dare stop. Ebookex.com

Finally, a luxury car arrived. Leaning on a cane, Clifford got out of the car with Malcolm.

"Dad!" Malcolm ran toward Zayden.

Clifford also barked an order. "Stop! Are you trying to kill someone?"

The bodyguards immediately gave Xavier the latest update. Upon receiving his response, they ceased their actions.

Zayden was taken to the ICU unit that night. He barely made it through.

Back at Lane Mansion, Yvette was lying down in her room. She decided to call Viola and the two children.
