Luke knew Yvette was a wonderful woman, but unfortunately, she had married Xavier and joined the Lane family. Being someone who didn't like to manage things, Luke had let Xavier and Shannon handle everything at home.

"I hope you and Xav get along," Luke commented sincerely. He clearly lacked the skills for sweet talk and spoke directly. Yvette nodded.

After Luke left, Yara and Terrence arrived early as well. Yara, dressed in luxurious clothes, was holding Lawrence's arm, her face beaming as she smiled. She didn't miss a chance to tell familiar faces that the one getting engaged today was her daughter. Yvette remembered how Yara had thrown out a sarcastic remark amidst others' well wishes during her own engagement to Xavier.

"Marrying into the Lane family is a step up for us. Can Yvette handle it? If she can't, won't she just end up divorced?"

Unexpectedly, Yara's words had come true; Yvette and Xavier were indeed on the verge of divorce now.

Xavier was nowhere to be found; he hadn't returned yet. Yvette waited for Kiki and Zachary to arrive. Shortly after, Kiki showed up, but strangely, Zachary was not with her.

"Kiki, where's Zac?" Yvette asked worriedly.

Kiki pointed behind her. "Dad took him to show off. It might be a long time before he gets here."

She knew Michael's personality. When he showed off Zachary, he completely lost track of time.

"By the way, where's your husband?" Kiki looked around but didn't see Xavier.

Kiki hadn't received an invitation to this event. The Torres family was like small fry compared to the Lane family. However, since she was about to get engaged to Tristan, she naturally got to bask in some of that glory.

"You must be Ms. Kiki Torres. Can we chat for a bit?" Sure enough, it didn't take long for someone to approach Kiki in the hopes of building connections.

As Kiki got pulled for a chat and got busy with entertaining people, she glanced at Yvette apologetically.

Yvette reassured her, saying it was fine and that she should go ahead.

Kiki then went over to chat with some of the wealthy ladies. In high society, everything revolved around interests. Knowing that Kiki was the future daughter-in-law of the Shaw family, these people had already

looked into Kiki before coming there.

Her status was on par with Zoey, who was set to marry Jeremiah. Building a connection with her could benefit their families' future businesses.

Yvette used to be the same. But

after people had realized that Xavier wasn't interested in her, they had stopped trying to curry favor with

her.

"If you had listened to me, you wouldn't be hiding in a corner now." A familiar voice rang out.

Yara had somehow appeared in front of Yvette. "Look at Zoey now. Not only is she an internationally

renowned dancer, but she's also net

going to be Mrs. Lane. Her future is limitless. And you? Your life is just about over."

Yara's eyes shone with pride and arrogance when she talked about Zoey.

Seeing her like this, Yvette thought about the investigation results and felt more and more certain that Zoey wasn't just Yara's stepdaughter.

She asked, "Zoey isn't your biological daughter; how does it matter how outstanding she is?"

With Yara's temperament, such a remark should have made her angry. However, she remained calm and indifferent, showing no sign of being upset.

Seeing this, Yvette felt even more convinced of her suspicions. She raised her hand. "You have something on your head. Don't move."

As she spoke, she used the pretext of brushing off the dirt to pluck a few strands of Yara's hair.

Yara winced in pain. "What is it?"

"There was something in your hair. It's gone now." Yvette discreetly kept the strands of hair.
