Yvette couldn't reply to those words. She focused on eating instead.

She didn't know what was wrong with her. It seemed that she didn't dare to accept other people's help and kindness anymore, for fear of owing others favors.

That was also why she didn't tell Kiki and Xavier even though she knew that Gemma and Zoey were behind what she and Zachary had gone through. Meanwhile, Xavier felt helpless as he listened to the sound of her eating. It felt awful to be ignored. He ended up not eating much.

When leaving, Yvette went to hold his hand. "Let go."

Xavier sat there unmovingly, rendering Yvette speechless. Was he actually throwing a tantrum?

"Are you coming or not?" she added.

Xavier didn't answer her. He stood up and hugged her. The hug was so tight that Yvette found it hard to breathe.

She patted his arm, saying, "Let go! Why did you hug me?"

They were about to go out when the door of the private room was opened.

Zoey and Jeremiah, who had just come out of the next room after their meal, happened to see them.

Jeremiah stopped in his tracks.

"I didn't think we'd see Xavier and Yvette here!" Zoey exclaimed. "They have been married for so many years, but they are still so loving."

Jeremiah's gaze turned gloomy as he clenched his fists.

By then, Xavier finally let go of Yvette and went out with her. When they walked out, Yvette locked eyes with Zoey and Jeremiah. She couldn't help but feel embarrassed. Wanting Xavier to know they were there, Zoey greeted them out loud, "Xavier, Yvette, are you guys celebrating Valentine's Day too?"

After hearing this, Xavier looked in Yvette's direction.

Yvette replied, "Yeah."

Zoey hugged Jeremiah's arm in

front of Yvette. "Jerry and I are doing the same! It's such a coincidence that we are in the same restaurant."

Yvette now thought that if she'd driven a little further, she wouldn't have had to meet the two of them.

She smiled politely as a reply and was about to pull Xavier away, but Zoey refused to give in.

"Yvette, what happened to your face? Why is it covered with such a large piece of gauze?"

"Minor injury is all," Yvette replied.

Zoey pretended to sympathize with her. "You are going to be disfigured, right? Thank goodness, Xavier can't see."

Zoey sure had a way with her words of mockery-she first talked about Yvette being disfigured before she wenton to comment on Xavier's blindness.

Yvette didn't want to argue with her, but after hearing these unpleasant words, she couldn't help but look dead into Zoey's eyes.

"I think that I am still prettier than you, even if I am disfigured. Otherwise, why do you so desperately want my face to be ruined?"

In other words, Yvette already knew that Zoey was the one who sent someone to disfigure her.

Zoey's expression froze. She was afraid of being exposed in front of Jeremiah. "Yvette, you sound really confident." "You're the reason for that, aren't you?" Yvette held Xavier's hand. "But you have to be extra cautious about your face.

"After all, I am just an ordinary

person, and you are a famous

dancer A dancer's face is more

important than mine, don't you think

so?

Zoey's gaze turned cold. She knew that Yvette was threatening her. She was furious as she watched Yvette lead Xavier away. "Jerry, did you hear what Yvette said? She wants to do something to my face, doesn't she? I only made a comment in passing!" Jeremiah pulled away her hand that was hugging his arm and patiently said, "Good girl. Don't overthink it."

Outside the door, Yvette and Xavier finally arrived downstairs. As they were in the car, Xavier suddenly grabbed her hand. "Do you feel embarrassed to be with me?" he asked.
