Chapter 147
Finnegan nodded enthusiastically and tugged on Lorraine's hand. "Mom, let's go have dinner with this man. It'll save us the trouble of cooking." He winked at Lorraine as he spoke.
Lorraine wondered what this little rascal was planning.
He was just four years old. What tricks could he be up to?
But Lorraine mentioned his three aunts. Lorraine was curious to meet Jenny.
She didn't immediately agree but also didn't refuse. Instead, she asked, "Finn, can you really invite your three aunts over?"
Finnegan nodded eagerly. "I remember everyone's phone numbers."
Both the siblings had an incredible memory.
"Mom, give me your phone. I'll call my aunts first. Once they arrive, we can go to dinner with him."
Finnegan smiled at Luke. "Mister, what's your name?"
"My name is Luke Linton. I'm an old classmate of your mom's. We used to be very close, but we had a misunderstanding, which is why she's acting like this toward me now," Luke explained, thinking that the kids wouldn't understand.
Lorraine hesitated but handed her phone to Finnegan.
Adept with the device, Finnegan called Jenny. Since it was an unknown number, Jenny didn't answer.
He called again, and she picked up this time.
"Hello, Aunt Jenny. It's me, Finn."
Jenny was surprised to hear her nephew's voice. "Finn, where are you? Whose number is this?"
"It's my mom's new number. Aunt Jenny, are you coming for dinner? Mom's classmate, Mr. Luke, wants to take us out to eat. I didn't want you and the other aunts to miss out, so I'm inviting you all too." Jenny was taken aback.
Someone wanted to treat Lorraine to dinner, and her nephew was ensuring the whole family was included.
Jenny knew that Logan was attending a party at the Jenkins residence tonight, and he was pretending to be poor to deceive his wife. This meant he couldn't take her along. Finnegan must be asking his aunts for help.
She immediately understood that Luke was pestering Lorraine.
How could he dare to mess with Logan's wife? Didn't he know what kind of family he was dealing with?
"I'll call your other two aunts right away. Finn, send me your location."
She had to protect Lorraine. Jenny wouldn't admit that she was also very curious about this woman whom she had never met before.
Lorraine had to be something to make her stoic brother fall in love with her. Since discovering that Logan had a secret marriage, she'd been dying to meet his wife. She wanted to secretly approach Lorraine but gave up on the idea to avoid being lashed out at by Logan.
Now, thanks to her nephew, she had the perfect opportunity, even if it meant rescheduling important client meetings.
"Okay," Finnegan replied obediently.
After the call, he turned to Luke, "Mr. Luke, where are we going to eat? I need to send my aunts the location so they can replace us."
Jenny was sharp-tongued, and Veronica was a foodie who could eat a lot without gaining weight and wasn't picky. She could gobble down a few bowls of plain pasta alone. Meanwhile, their youngest aunt was very picky and only ate the best.
Since Luke was shameless enough to insist on treating them, he would surely regret it once he saw the bill.
