Chapter 150

As Sonia was thoroughly enjoying her meal, she even forgot her surroundings. She absentmindedly patted her boss on the shoulder and asked, "Isn't it delicious?" Realizing what she had done, she felt a wave of embarrassment. Meeting Jacob's deep, cold gaze, she sheepishly explained, "I thought I was with Raine."

Jacob had given her the chance to attend the banquet and taste all this delicious food, but in her bliss, she had thought of Lorraine instead.

Jacob was displeased.

Yet, the person who occupied the top spot in Sonia's heart was his sister-in-law. There was nothing he could do about it. After glaring at Sonia, he returned to enjoying his food.

He needed to eat something to line his stomach since he would be drinking later and didn't want to get drunk easily.

"Mr. Moore, do you think the Jenkinses' chef was hired from a five-star hotel? Their food is amazing."

Sonia then added regretfully, "I wish we could have brought another person. It would be great if Raine could be here."

Jacob shot her a look and didn't respond.

Realizing her mistake, Sonia felt awkward.

She was only able to attend this high-profile event because of Jacob. The guests tonight were all influential and wealthy. Ordinary people like her wouldn't even dream of being here. Even Jacob wouldn't be here if he wasn't the third son of the Moores.

Bringing Lorraine along was out of the question.

"Mr. Moore."

"Speak." Jacob didn't even lift his head. His response was indifferent and authoritative.

"Is

your brother, I mean our company's CEO, coming too? When is he expected to arrive?"

She was eager to catch a glimpse of the legendary CEO.

Jacob crushed her hopes without mercy. "Don't bother expecting it. Even if my brother comes, you won't get to see him, let alone get close to him." "Why not?"

Sonia wondered why she couldn't meet Logan even in the same event.

"Because he's always surrounded by tall and well-built bodyguards. With your height, you wouldn't be able to see him. Plus, the CEO doesn't allow young women to get near him." Sonia straightened her back. "Am I really that short?"

"You're not short among women. But compared to the bodyguards, you're still at a disadvantage. They're all over six feet tall. Even the CEO isn't as tall as they are. Neither of you can match the height of the bodyguards. So, do you think you can see the boss when he's surrounded by them?"

Sonia felt defeated.

Even with the chance to be in the same room, she wouldn't get to see Logan in person. It was a major disappointment.

"Mr. Moore, your brother is the most promising young man in Glendale. Is he really that handsome? Who's better looking, you or him?"

Jacob refused to answer.

Failing to get a response, Sonia muttered to herself.

At that moment, everyone in the room started heading outside.

Sonia grew excited. She asked, "Mr. Moore, look! Everyone's going outside. Do you think something's happening? Should we go check it out?”

Jacob's tone remained indifferent. "Forget about it. It's probably because our CEO has arrived."

Hearing this, Sonia quickly got up and slipped away.

Jacob simply watched her leave and calmly continued eating.

He noticed she hadn't finished her food, so he helped himself to the untouched portions.

Jacob decided to let her be.

After a while, Sonia returned, looking disappointed. She sat down across from Jacob and said, "I should have listened to you. I went out and joined the crowd surrounding our CEO, but his bodyguards kept him completely shielded.

"Everyone was fawning over him, and I got pushed to the edge. I tried everything to get closer but couldn't. Even on my tiptoes, I couldn't catch even a glimpse of our CEO."
