Kate shook his hand off. "No, I've just gotten out of a relationship."

Nathan's mouth twitched as he said, "What's wrong? Do you need time to forget him?"

"Yes."

Nathan knew she was deliberately provoking him, but he still couldn't help feeling bitter as he said,"Then, why did you end things with him?"

Kate looked him straight in the eye. "He made a mistake that I can never forgive."

He instantly felt his heart sink, as he knew that what he did was much worse than what Jasper did. Hethought that she would never forgive him for that.

"Then, will you be able to forgive me for mine?"

"I've already forgiven you."

Upon her words, Nathan smiled in joy. "Really? Th-Then we…"

However, Kate remained stern as she looked at him. "There is no 'we.' I simply wanted to spare myselfthe pain by forgiving you."

Kate shook him off once more. "I've tried believing in you and gave you a chance to prove it. However,others had easily taken advantage of how many problems there are between us. Nathan's words here seemed to have made a deeper impression on Kate compared to the promises hemade to her.
