Wait! Werewolves Exist?
Chapter 108-The End

AMBER

A few days had gone by since the events at the citadel. I had just returned to Lakeside after I had helped Ruby choose a member of the werewolf council to sit on the supernatural court. We had spoken with each member individually and had agreed completely on our decision. I had no doubt that Council member Perry would make a wonderful representative for the were community. I walked into the Alpha office and smiled at the sight of Adam sitting at the desk. He was on the phone, so I didn’t say anything. I just watched him. He smiled at me and patted his knee, inviting me to sit. I didn’t need to be asked twice. I was across that room and in his lap in seconds. Once he had hung up, he crashed his lips into mine, giving me a long, deep k**s. I hadn’t realised how much I’d needed that. He told me that it had been Chris on the phone. They were working out an alliance between our packs. Night Forest was also going to be a part of it. I smiled. Adam was turning out to be a wonderful Alpha, Lakeside was in good hands. I filled him in on my time with Ruby. The court would be gathering tomorrow to handle the trial of both Joseph and Delilah. We had been invited to attend, but I had turned the invitation down. We had just got back, and I didn’t feel a need to be there. Adam told me that he agreed and felt it was for the best. I nuzzled into his neck, breathing him in deeply. He suggested that he take the rest of the day off. I grinned. “We could go for a run, let Star and Rusty spend some quality time together.” I suggested. Star was bouncing around in my mind ecstatic at the thought. “As long as I get to spend some quality time with you later as well.” He said, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively. He mi d linked Joe to inform him that he was taking the evening off and that Joe was in charge, and we headed off to the woods.

The next morning, I spent my time getting to grips with my Luna duties. I went out and spoke with many pack members to replace out what they needed. I visited my parents’ graves and was pleased to replace that a headstone had been placed next to them with Mary’s name on it. Becky appeared beside me. She had seen me heading this way. It had been her idea, and she had Joe rake care of it while we were away. She had wanted to surprise me. “I know that technically Mary would have been placed in the main pack cemetery, but given that she raised our Luna, I figured that she deserved a place her instead. Besides, my mum said that Mary and your mum were almost inseparable.” She said. I gave her a huge hug and thanked her. I told her that i was sure that Mary would have loved her as much as I did.

That night, as I was getting ready for bed, Ruby called to tell me that Joseph had been sentenced to death due to the many murders he had committed along with his other terrible crimes. Delilah had been sentenced to imprisonment for her part. I made a mental note to call Chris later and see how he was doing. She paused for a moment before asking “Amber, the ritual that transferred Joseph’s power to you, as you know it’s only part of the process. You need to make a decision. Do you want to make your immortality and power permanent? Or do you want to pass it down one day? We need to know whether to save you some of Joseph’s b***d when his sentence is carried out.” I didn’t even need to think about it “There’s no need to save it. I have no interest in living forever. The power was always meant to be passed along. That was the intention of the Moon Goddess. That is what will happen.” I told her. Her happiness at my answer was palpable even through the phone. “I was hoping that you would say that.” She said. She told me that William sent his regards and we said our goodbyes.

I sighed happily, looking out of my bedroom window in Bluebell cottage. I would never tire of that view. Right now, life seemed almost perfect. There was peace among the packs. The supernatural court was stronger than ever and totally free from corruption. I felt like I belonged, even though in reality it had still been a fairly short time since I’d come to Lakeside. It felt like I’d been here my whole life. I had my grandparents in my life. As well as an uncle, aunt, and cousins. I had Ellie, Peter, Becky, and Joe, who I was proud to call family. My whole life had changed in such a short space of time. I had gone from a normal girl, working as a waitress and living with Chris. Happy enough in my life. To having my heart completely smashed by losing Mary and then Chris and Kim’s betrayal. To replaceing that there was a whole amazing, terrifying world that I never even knew existed. Now here I was Luna of a wonderful pack, with my amazing mate by my side. There was only one thing that could make this any more perfect. I looked over at Adam as he came out of the bathroom. His body glistened with water from the shower that he had just taken. I made my way over to him and began running my fingers over his bare skin. I loosened his towel, enjoying the sight as it dropped to the floor. Looking up into his eyes, I told him “The only thing that could make life any more perfect is a baby.” He growled and lifted me off the ground. I wrapped my legs around him, and he carried the short distance to the bed. “Then let’s make one.” He said. I grinned, and we got started right then and there.
