Summary
In Edoh, where witchcraft and wizardry are different and competing forms of magic, the prevalent notion is that witchcraft is the lesser art. The prejudice stems from a simple difference— Witches require wands, brooms and other mediums to perform magic, while wizards do not. When Jira, who comes from a long line of wizards, quits her family’s school of wizardry to study witchcraft, she is disowned. Now a full-fledged witch with her own school of witchcraft, her mother returns to challenge her to a competition between their two schools to prove once and for all which form of magic is greater.
