Chapter 0387

Felix’s oldest son took over the family business, and his second son was a top lawyer. His youngest son. was focused on scientific research.

“Did anything happen when you went to see Paul this afternoon?” he asked.

Susan frowned and said deliberately, “Something’s off with him.”

“What’s off?

“He actually asked for two portions when I went to bring him food today! Two portions, can you believe it?

Felix didn’t get it. “What’s wrong with asking for two portions?”

“My intuition tells me that our son might have a girlfriend!” Susan exclaimed. Why else would he ask for two portions?

Felix expected Susan was going to tell him some explosive news. “He just asked for an extra portion of food. What’s the big deal? Maybe he plans to eat two meals, or he’s bringing some for a friend. You’re overthinking it.”

With that, he poured himself a cup of tea and sipped it leisurely after savoring its scent. His calm demeanor was a sharp contrast to Susan’s anxious state.

Felix continued, “Don’t you know what Paul is like? His life revolves around experiments and data. It’s hard enough to get him to come home for a meal. Where would he replace time to date?

“What’s

more, he is already at the age where having a girlfriend will be a good thing. You used to talk all the time about introducing him to young ladies from this or that family. Now, what’s there to worry about when your wish might actually come true?”

Children would grow up and leave the nest. It was not like they could control him forever. Honestly, they couldn’t even if they tried.

Susan knew he had a point. However, the thought of Paul having a girlfriend without knowing her background left Susan with mixed emotions. “I’m going to bed!”

Felix called after her, “Huh? Are you done pacing around?

Susan replied, “I need to sleep early to get up early tomorrow.”

She planned to head straight to her son’s rented apartment tomorrow and figure out what was really going on!

The sky brightened earlier in the month of September.

Miranda was awakened by the sunlight filtering through her curtains before the alarm even went off. Sitting up, she yawned and began washing up.

Breakfast was some oatmeal she prepared the night before. It was now ready to eat. After finishing her meal, she tidied up the kitchen. Miranda headed out to go to college when it was almost time.

Chapter 0387

As she reached the fourth floor, she suddenly heard a scream from below. Miranda peered through the railing and saw a woman dressed in high heels and a long dress. She had tripped over a pile of garbage.

The tenants living on the third floor liked to leave their trash in the hallway overnight for the cleaning staff to pick up in the morning. Sometimes, there was so much trash that it took up half of the wall making the area dirty and smelly.

The lady probably fell down because her heels were too high, and she wasn’t familiar with the surroundings here.

“Are you alright?” Miranda helped her up.

“Thank you- Turning around, Susan was about to continue speaking when she caught sight of Miranda’s face.

She wondered why Miranda looked so familiar.

Soon, Susan recalled that she was the tea master at the tea tasting party. She could still remember how the other ladies had secretly chuckled in a corner when Miranda mentioned that her tea brewing skills weren’t good.

Susan considered herself not a petty person who couldn’t take criticism. However, she just didn’t like Miranda for some reason.

Maybe it was because she looked too striking in the long dress that day, or that she had a close relationship with Natalie.

Or maybe Miranda’s appearance just wasn’t her cup of tea.

At any rate, everything about her felt off.

Clearly, Miranda also remembered who Susan was and replied calmly, “You’re welcome.” She then let go of Susan’s hand and took a step back to put some distance between them.

Susan noticed her attempt to distance herself and frowned instinctively. She hadn’t planned on acknowledging Miranda, but she was reluctant to just let her off. “What are you doing here?”

Miranda answered indifferently, “I live here.”
