Chapter 0475
“Do
you seriously think that cutting ties with me will make Miranda forget our friendship and agree to be with you?” Hansel asked. “You’re so naive.”
He snatched Sam’s cup and smashed it on the floor. The porcelain shattered, and sharp shards flew everywhere. “I never knew you were such a love–struck idiot, Sam!”
Calvin and Zach instinctively took a step back to avoid the flying shards. They exchanged uneasy glances and were taken aback by Hansel’s sudden outburst. But what really threw them was that Sam seemed ready to risk everything just to cut ties with Hansel.
Despite their earlier falling out, Hansel and Sam kept their feud private. Still, they continued to invest in key projects and shared the profits. When it came to money, personal relationships were secondary.
If it were Calvin and Zach, they would never let their pursuit of a woman get in the way of making money. But Sam, always the strategist, had them baffled this time.
Even Hansel’s jab about him being love–struck only deepened their confusion. They just couldn’t figure out what was going through Sam’s head.
Sam glanced at the broken pieces on the floor. “Such a waste. A perfectly fine cup was smashed because you’re pissed. Did Miranda end up like that cup?”
Hansel’s face darkened. “What’s your point?”
Sam shot back, “Call me petty or childish if you want. Who cares? I just want to cut ties with you, and I don’t owe you an explanation. I’m doing this because I want to, and because it makes me happy. Is that an issue for you?”
“You” The tension in Hansel’s body was evident from how his chest heaved and jaw tightened.
Sam smirked. “What’s wrong? You’re reluctant to lose those projects or that money?”
Hansel hesitated before barking, “You think you’re better than everyone else? That you don’t fucking love money?”
“I do. But Mimi is more important to me.”
Calvin and Zach winced. They felt a chill creep over them.
Sam continued, “You’re right. Miranda might still turn me down even if I cut ties with you. But so what? This is my choice. Whether she says yes or no, that’s on her. I’d love things to work out, but if they don’t does that mean I should just sit back and do nothing?
“That’s the difference between us, Hansel. You won’t take a chance unless you’re certain of the outcome, but I will risk everything.”
Hansel retorted, “Even if you know you’re going to fail?
“There’s no such thing as guaranteed failure. It happens to those who don’t put in the effort.”
“You’re insane!”
“Heh…” Sam’s lips curled into a knowing smile as if he was holding back a sigh. “Maybe.”

Hansel asked, “Does it have to be this way? Pursuing Miranda doesn’t mean we must end our partnershi
“Who says it doesn’t? In my book, it does,” Sam said firmly.
Hansel said coldly, “If you’re intent on self–sabotage, don’t drag me down with you.”
“That’s exactly why I’m warning you so you can be prepared.”
Hansel said, “You’re basically throwing money into the sea.”
“I’ll take pleasure in hearing it splash,” Sam said.
Hansel fell silent and was baffled by Sam’s state of mind. He was convinced that Sam had lost it. With that, he turned on his heel and walked away.
Just then, Sam spoke again. “I met Miranda’s parents while I was in Lumberville.”
Hansel froze at the revelation.
