Chapter 499 What a Messy Relationship

Shirley turned her head and saw Nancy's figure, feeling somewhat guilty.

"Nancy, when did you get here? Why didn't you say anything?"

"I've been here for a while. Seeing you two in a steamy private chat, I was too embarrassed to interrupt.'

Nancy slowly approached them. Her tone was indifferent, filled with detachment and coldness.

This was bad!

Shirley frowned, guessing that Nancy had heard their conversation earlier, both the parts could and couldn't be heard.

Nancy, with her strong pride, must be very hurt!

"Nancy, don't listen to Keith's bosh. He's just talking nonsense. He's not really like that. He's... he's..."

Shirley hurriedly tried to defend Keith, but soon realized that his words were difficult to excuse.

"Shirley, you don't need to explain for me. I am that kind of person. It's better for Nancy to see the truth sooner and give up her unrealistic fantasies. It's for her own good."

Keith put his hands in his pockets, with a smile on his face. His eyes exuded a sense of freedom, unrestrained and captivating.

Nancy looked at him coldly, devoid of any emotion, and said disdainfully, "Keith, I admit you have a way with flirting, so much so that during our time on Sunflower Island, I've had my moments of confusion. But those moments are far from being 'flipped'. I could never like someone like you."

Keith shrugged nonchalantly. "Understandable. After all, I'm not an elite, nor am I a top student. I'm just a carefree, aimless wanderer. How could I dare to hope for your affection?"

"I don't like you because I look down on you. You're a coward at heart, afraid to face your own feelings. You're the weakest man I've ever seen, even weaker than my ex!" Nancy exclaimed.

"Coward?"

Keith touched his chin as if he had been hit where it hurt, and laughed, "How am I a coward? Just because I don't like fighting and killing, is that wrong?"

"Don't you think you're cowardly when you don't even have the courage to face your true feelings?"

Nancy retorted, 'I always wondered why every time I saw you, even though you seemed to be laughing and joking, there was always a sense of sadness about you, a sadness that comes from unrequited love. Now I understand..."

"What did you understand?"

Keith was genuinely puzzled this time.

What was his true heart? Did this girl really understand him?

"So, it turns out that you like Shirley, who used to be your best friend's woman." Nancy had completely seen through Keith this time. She said with a touch of sympathy, 'Unfortunately, you only dare to secretly like her, but not pursue her. So you can only use laughter to cover up your true heart. Then, you continue to cling to Shirley as a good friend, even deliberately flirting with me, using me as a cover, for fear of exposing your true heart!"

"Uh... so you think that's what I'm doing?" Keith's handsome face suddenly stiffened. This girl really wasn't playing by the rules, was she?

He had thought that she was a master of understanding others, able to see through his heart!

Nancy continued to criticize him with an air of disappointment, "You're such a coward.

At this age, you're still secretly in love. Anyway, Shirley is single now. If you're a man, take action and boldly pursue her!"

"Um, you're right. Since Shirley is single now, maybe I can really pursue her. It's just that I'm the kind of person who's good at talking, but when it comes to actually chasing a woman, I'm a bit at a loss!" Keith slightly frowned, putting on an eager-to-learn face, sincerely asking Nancy for advice, "You're Shirley's best friend, you should know her thoughts best. Why don't you give me some advice?" "Humph, at least you're not hopeless. Asking me is the right choice.' Nancy, who was initially quite annoyed, immediately became excited when she heard

Keith wanted to pursue her goddess, and began to be enthusiastically eloquent,

"Actually, it's not difficult to chase Shirley. First of all, you have to be handsome..."

Shirley was standing aside, bewildered by the situation.

Were these two people okay? What did it have to do with her? Why did they suddenly start discussing how to pursue her so openly?

Moreover, they were talking so animatedly, as if they were sharing a delicious dish, both completely absorbed and seemingly unaware of their surroundings.

"Uh, hey..."

Shirley tried to join their conversation, but found that the two of them were talking so closely that there was no chance for her to join in. So, she decided to leave first. "You guys continue chatting, I'll go first!" When Shirley returned to the dining room, Larry had already prepared most of the dishes and was joyfully arranging the plates.

"You're back. Just in time for dinner. Where are Keith and Nancy?"

"They're still chatting."

"What are they chatting about that they're so engrossed in their conversation?"

"Uh, about how to pursue me.'

Shirley couldn't help but feel a mix of amusement and frustration.

Larry's plating motion paused as he tentatively asked, "What do you think of Keith?'

"Well, although he's a bit off, he's a good person. He even saved my life before!"

"That's not bad. You might want to consider giving him a chance."

"What are you talking about, my brother? Why are you just like Nancy, randomly matchmaking me with someone? Didn't you just say you would support me for the rest of my life, so I wouldn't have to marry or have children and live a happy life?"

"Well, that's true, but as your brother, I also hope you replace a good partner. Besides, Keith is Braden's best friend, so he should know Braden well. Turning the enemy's friend into our confidant is like winning half the battle." Larry said meaningfully.

Keith and Nancy also returned, and the two of them, with a common goal, changed their previous confrontational attitude and became quite harmonious.

Add Larry to the mix, and the three of them shared the same goal.

During the dinner, Shirley almost felt like a dish herself, nearly being served to Keith by both Larry and Nancy.

"Come on, have some shrimp. Shirley loves shrimp the most." Nancy said while winking at Keith.

Keith smiled, picked up a shrimp with his gloved hand, and began to patiently peel it.

"Ah, that's the right way to do it. You're teachable. Remember what I said, beauties don't need to peel shrimp themselves."

Keith nodded and then placed the peeled shrimp into Nancy's bowl. "The beauty has been teaching me all night and must be tired. Have a shrimp to replenish your energy."

Nancy stopped abruptly, staring at him in shock. 'Dude, what's wrong with you? Why are you giving it to me? Give it to Shirley!"

"Oh, right. I'll peel one for Shirley now.'

Keith turned around and exchanged a glance with Shirley. Shirley suddenly understood and cooperated. "It's okay, my taste has changed. I don't like shrimp anymore. He doesn't need to peel it for me." Having no choice, Keith shrugged, showing a wounded expression, "See, she won't let me peel it. She must think I'm not qualified enough. I'm such a failure."

Nancy saw the man looking so defeated and couldn't help but feel sympathy. She graciously ate the shrimp. 'It's just a matter of personal taste. I'll eat it." "Alright, I'll peel a few more for you.'

So, Keith, who had been clamoring to pursue Shirley, was now peeling shrimps one after another for Nancy.

What?

Larry, sitting in the main seat, was completely puzzled. What a messy situation this was!
