Sherilyn paused, understanding perfectly well why Edgar had asked her that. It was likely because she and Gilbert seemed to be getting along too smoothly... "We haven't reconciled."

Sherilyn shook her head, letting out a soft sigh with a hint of a smile, "We've just... reached a truce."

"A truce?"

Edgar furrowed his brows, trying to process her words. He found it hard to believe, but a quiet joy began to bloom within him, "You mean, you two aren't back together?" "That's right."

Sherilyn chuckled, nodding in affirmation.

"!!"

Edgar was both surprised and delighted, and the weight he'd been carrying for days finally lifted! He had been worried that once Sherilyn learned what Gilbert had done for her, she might change her mind... But she hadn't! This meant he still had a chance! Edgar tried to rein in his happiness; Jenna was still in the hospital, and he had promised to wait for her.

"Sherilyn..."

"Edgar!"

They both spoke at the same time.

Sherilyn smiled, "You first."

"Oh..." Edgar couldn't hide his smile, "I was just wondering, where are you headed? Can I give you a lift?"

At that moment, the elevator arrived at the underground parking garage.

"No need."

Sherilyn smiled, shaking her head and gesturing towards her parking spot, "I drove myself."

"I see..." Edgar's mood dipped slightly.

Sherilyn took her car keys out of her purse, still smiling, "I'm heading to do some voice-over work for my show. I'm not sure when I'll finish... Having my own car is just more convenient." "That makes sense."

"My car's over there," Sherilyn pointed in one direction.

Edgar pointed in the opposite direction, "Mine's that way..."

"Then I guess this is goodbye for now."

"Alright, take care."

Sherilyn turned and jogged to her car. Behind her, Edgar watched her leave, not moving right away. He could sense that Sherilyn was stil keeping her distance. But that was okay. For someone he cared about, he had all the patience in the world.

Meanwhile, Sherilyn found her car and drove off, exhaling a long breath. She could feel that Edgar was still waiting for her. At this point, she only saw him as a friend, nothing more... She'd already told him this before. Maybe she should replace another chance to talk to him about it? But what if he kept persisting? If it were anyone else, she might have resorted to harsh words. However, Edgar was different. Even in his persistence, he was polite, considerate, and never pressured her, never becoming the kind of annoyance she dreaded...

...

In the hospital room. Gilbert had just put Jenna to sleep and leaned back on the couch to work on his laptop. His phone vibrated on the table. He glanced at it and rejected the call. Shortly after, he sent a text. [Can't talk now. I won't be back at Golden Oak Manor for the next couple of weeks. Take care. If anything urgent, contact Charles.]

The reply came quickly.

[Are you at the hospital?]

Gilbert paused before replying with a single word.

[Yes.]

[Understood.]

The conversation ended there. On the other end, Caroline gripped her phone tightly, her lips curling into a sneer, "Hah, how interesting..."

She had learned about Gilbert and

Sherilyn's daughter! It was hard not to know! For them, Gilbert had even returned to the Harrison family, a place he had vowed never to go back to. Previously, not even mother's influence could bring him back, right? This just showed how important Sherilyn and their daughter were to Gilbert!
