Who Is My Husband -
Scene 48
Kailee’s eyes fluttered open as the details of last night played in her mind. The light of the morning was streaming into the room showing she had slept through the night. She reached up to her neck feeling her new mark on her skin. She turned to her side feeling Trey’s body next to her. Her eyes widened as she met the green eyes next to her. She sat up startled as he reached out to her.
“Hey hey hey. It’s me.” His voice cooed to her.
“I can see that.” She said as she studied his face. At first she started to smile. She was finally seeing her husband. But then a small frown formed as she started pouting. “Does this mean you plan on keeping me locked up now?”
Trey chuckled. “There is no point hiding it now. Not after last night. You would be able to know me instantly even with the potions I have been taking.”
“That’s why I didn’t know it was you. Soooo is it Trey or Ty?” Kailee said with a small smile on her lips.
“It’s Trey.” He reached out and hoisted her body into his. He lowered his head to her neck and licked on her mark. “Mmm this is better this way. Now I can taste you anytime I want.”
Kailee giggled and pushed him back. “No wonder you frustrated me so much. You were blocking me from being able to sense who you were.” She watched as he smiled with a nod. “So annoying. So why the charade if I was only going to replace out once you marked me?”
“That wasn’t the plan either. I planned on marking you and keeping up with the mask.” He then pointed to the mark on his collar bone. “But you are full of surprises my dear. You have also marked me. And it was a very powerful mark at that. It wiped me out all night. I can’t fool this type of magic.” He smirked at her. “But that was hot as hell. I’m getting excited just thinking about it.” His tone was raspy as he leaned in closer to her again.
She pushed him on his chest knocking him down on the bed while she sat on top of his stomach.
“I can get used to this view.” He smirked as he ran his hands over her bare sides.
Kailee smiled down at him. “So that is how you knew me before… because of that day at my uncles?”
Trey smiled and shook his head no. “Not just that day. I’ve watched you for a couple years. The first day I saw you I knew you were mine.” He rubbed his hands up and down her side. “You were out in the garden talking with Sparks. I thought it was cute how you had a conversation with him like you could understand him. Little did I know that you could. And since that day I have always looked for you secretly. Whether it was from your attic window or out in the garden. I was always searching for you.”
He wrapped his arms around her back. “Then one day I heard your uncle shouting at you for coming inside while he had company. It took both Lance and Grum to stop me from barging in and ripping him apart. I wanted to take you right then. I knew after that I had to obtain you. I had to have you by any means necessary. Luckily, not long after that incident your uncle came to me wanting some of Clover estate land. And I didn’t hesitate to make the trade.”
“So when you said you had a crush on me you meant that I was your mate and drawn to me.” Kailee raised her eye at him while he grinned at her. She began to remember all the times she saw Ty. “So you were there the day I went into the building fire in the village.” She watched his expression change.
“I just got back from my trip when that happened. I was furious that you ended up in a burning building. I was terrified. You came out right when I was about to go in. I wasn’t about to lose you. So… are you disappointed?” He smiled up at her.
She giggled and shook her head. “Terribly disappointed.” She bit her bottom l*p as she smiled at him, making him chuckle.
He leaned up and situated her on his lap. He wrapped her legs around him, and he held her close. “I guess it really was pointless trying to hide my identity from you. I didn’t realize I wouldn’t be able to continue to fool you. But because of that I’m going to need to keep you here. No more village runs for you.” He watched her frown and he leaned in brushing her lips against his. “Just for now.”
“You know how mad I was at you when you told me it wasn’t a good idea to go visit the burned down mill?”
Trey chuckled. “Yes, I could sense that quite well. As Grum would put it, you were hissing at me then little kitten.”
She leaned into him and licked at his lips, soliciting a growl from his chest. Which reminded her…
“Are you going to tell me what exactly I am marked and mated to?” She arched an eyebrow and studied his face.
“Yes, about that. Well, there is a lot more to it than what I am. I guess I need to explain everything to you now.” His eyes looked over her body and a small smirk played on his lips. “I’m sorry sweetheart. I have to put clothes on you first or you’ll have to wait until after the next round for answers.”
“I thought you said that when you marked me I wouldn’t be sleeping all night?” A wry grin played on her lips as he shifted her to the side to grab them some clothes.
“I actually forgot about something important when I said that.” His voice was a bit muffled as he reached into the drawers. He came back after putting clothes on himself and bringing one of his shirts to put on her. He sat back on the bed and pulled her into his arms. He smiled as she leaned into him and rested his face on the top of her head. It was much better not having to have the metal mask on in the privacy of their room.
“Well let’s start by what I am. Along with Grum, Reggie, Lance, Phill and Will. We are dragons. And we are here strictly because we have suspected foul play having to do with Bane. In fact, that is the reason for Clover estate. It is so that one of the dragon nobilities could keep an eye on this place.” He took in another breath. “There is something else. Clover estate is not mine. This is Reggie’s place. It was his father that was killed. Reggie witnessed the event as a child. Your uncle, who is a warlock, along with a couple of demons ambushed his father and killed him. They had slipped something in his drink to make sure he was impaired. They planned on killing him and his son in order to take over the lands. But Reggie escaped and came to the capital of Monog.”
Trey paused for a moment and listened to the quiet rhythm of Kailee’s heartbeat showing that she wasn’t alarmed and was accepting of what he was telling her. She didn’t even get anxious hearing she was mated to a dragon. “When Reggie made it to us, I decided I would go personally to see to this issue. Even though I was young I was still strong. And the same age as Reggie so it worked. Keeping Bane from reviving is of the utmost importance and top priority. And since I am the strongest among our kind it made sense. As you might have figured out… it was not Reggie’s parents but mine who came here with Jane. The reason they are so anxious about my mate is because I am the prince of Monog. I am the future king. Which means you are now the princess of Monog…”
Kailee couldn’t believe the irony of it all. Her grandmother was the person those in the forest realm deemed to be the rightful ruler of Monog. With her mother and her being the correct heirs to the throne. Her being with Trey had to be some weird play on fate. Maybe with the two of them joined together they really could unify the lands. Or could this be another potential problem?
“Kailee?”
“Hmm?”
“You seem very unreactive over all of this.” Trey chuckled as he moved his face into the crook of her neck. He brushed his mark on her with his nose knowing the spot was more sensitive to her now. He smiled as he felt her body shudder in response. “At least I can elicit some sort of response from you.” He chuckled into her neck.
“Is that it? Is that everything? All your secrets?” Kailee tilted her head to the side giving him more access to her neck.
“Mmmhmmm.” He suckled against her neck. “Anything you want to know I’ll tell you.”
“So Reggie is your cousin but this is just his place. Has he been filling in as you then? And what about the others?”
“Reggie has been my stand-in during this time. Lance was originally brought in as a young child to be my double. They found an orphan who looked very similar to me as a means of protection for me. And Grum… well his parents are alive. But his story is his to tell. But he is one of our strongest soldiers. My first knight which is why he is always with me. Will came here a couple of years ago… Something happened, and he couldn’t stand to watch it anymore… He volunteered to come here to help out. And then Phill is one of our stealthiest assassins. He has phenomenal hearing too. Which is why he always goes with me to work at your uncle’s undercover.”
Kailee turned around to face Trey. She reached her hand out and held his cheek in her fingers. “It’s nice to see you husband.”
He leaned into her fingers and brushed over them with his lips. He reached his own hand up and held her hand there. “I was told that this feeling would get stronger… but I didn’t expect this. I didn’t expect to feel like my lungs only fill up when you take a breath. I’m so happy Kailee. You have been so accepting of everything with me. And even now you are unphased by everything I told you.”
“It doesn’t matter to me, Trey. I just want to stay by your side.”
Do you hear me Kailee? Trey said through their new mind link.
She smiled at him and nodded her head.
“You are also connected with Reggie, Grum, and Lance like this.” Trey kissed her hand again. “Not just them though. All of my kind. When I marked you I transferred sovereign powers to you. You can mind link with all dragons.”
“I wonder if I gave you any powers.” Kailee said thoughtfully.
“Oh you did. I can feel it. Not sure what though. I guess that will depend on what you are.” Trey felt her fingers stiffen on his cheek. “What is it baby?”
She lowered her hand back down and leaned her forehead on his chest. “There are things I haven’t been telling you to be honest.”
Trey smiled. “What? You know what you are? Let me have it.” He grinned widely but that soon fell as he looked at her small frown.
“I actually don’t know what I am yet. I haven’t been told. But I think if I tell you what I know then you will know what I am. Sparks and my stewards said for me to wait until I talk to Alistair because he wants to explain everything to me. But I can tell you what I know and even if you figure it out you don’t have to tell me.”
“We will be surprised together then. I’ll take you to meet Alistair in a couple of days and we will see what all he knows.”
“I think Alistair is like an adopted uncle of mine. My mother was raised as his sister. He is someone I think is trustworthy.” She fidgeted slightly not sure how he would feel hearing that.
Trey reached out and gently grabbed onto Kailee’s chin. “Kailee. All I want is you. Don’t worry about the rest. We will figure it out together. Baby if you could feel this feeling in my chest right now… I feel almost giddy being marked by you. And when I look at the mark on your neck I couldn’t be any more damn proud. I must have done something very right in order to have you as a mate.”
Kailee smiled. “You really did get to be my white knight and rescue me from my uncle.” Her brown eyes smiled back at his green ones as they held against the other.
He smiled and then looked at her lips. He slowly leaned forward, brushing his nose over hers before pushing into her lips. The k**s was warm, gentle and sweet. At first. Then the passion began to increase and with it his desire for his mate. And soon the clothes they had put on were once again discarded. As they made love for the first time in the light of the sun in the room.
