Kailee giggled as she lifted her mask to her face. “Can you imagine how frustrating this would be for you Trey. Not being able to ever see my face.”

Trey laughed as he grabbed his masquerade mask for the party. “Honestly baby… as long as you were treating me well and bedding me well I think I’d be alright.” He winked at her and lifted his own mask up to his face. “Ready my love?”

She smiled and linked her arm with his. She raised up on her tiptoes to k**s his bottom jawline quickly. “I am… but I am also a bit nervous. I haven’t been to one of these parties before. And I am not a good dancer.”

Trey chuckled and led her through the hall. “Don’t worry. I’m a good leader. Besides, there is nothing to these parties so don’t be nervous.” He opened the doors to the outside and led her over to the carriage. This was true… normally. Parties were usually fun and a nice way to pass the time. But this party might not be so fun. He knew there was a high possibility that something might happen tonight. And if so they would be ready. He felt conflicted bringing Kailee because of this chance but he could hardly go without her. Not to such a public event.

Kailee looked up at the three men already standing there and she started giggling. They were all wearing the same exact thing. From head to toe they had on the same exact attire. “Oh, this is too much. You guys all look identical.”

“Maybe I’ll get lucky then with you tonight.” Reggie winked behind his mask and chuckled as Trey growled. His cousin pulled Kailee tighter into his possessive grip. And Reggie couldn’t help but laugh more seeing that.

Kailee was giggling as she shook her head to Reggie. “You might all look alike to everyone else, but I can tell you each apart easily.” She pointed to each man. “Lance, Grum and of course Reggie.”

“How can you tell so easily?” Trey asked.

“I guess I can feel them more now…” Kailee couldn’t explain it. She just knew who they were.

“I guess it is similar to how I know who each one is too.” Trey understood what she meant because that was how it was with him as well. He just knew who they were no matter what disguise they could never fool him. It made more sense since he had marked her. Some of the powers he transferred were also his senses as well.

“Don’t you think it is odd for you all to be wearing the same clothes like that?” A shrill voice came from behind.

Kailee turned her head to see Jane walking up with a mask of her own on her. She was wearing a long green dress as she swayed her h**s slowly walking towards them. She didn’t even look at Kailee as she approached but kept her eyes on Trey and the guys.

“I wasn’t sure if you were still going to join us.” Reggie said and walked up to Jane. “Would you care to be my date this evening?”

“No, I would not. I want to be able to dance freely with whomever I want without being obligated to you.” Jane said coldly and brushed past him getting into the carriage.

“It’s better when they play hard to get.” Reggie chuckled and then followed behind her in the carriage.

Trey led Kailee to a separate carriage and helped her in before hopping in beside her. Then Lance and Grum got in as well. He arched his eyebrow at them questioning what they were doing in his carriage.

“We aren’t riding with her.” Grum said lowly folding his arms in front of him defiantly.

“You guys just had a couple of hours alone together so deal with having company on the ride over.” Lance said with a chuckle.

“No one is going to know who the Lord of Clover Estate tonight is. It will be amusing to those that are wanting to know.” Grum said and settled into the carriage as it started to gently roll along.

“Who all will be wanting to know?” Kailee watched as Grum looked out the window and Lance did the same. She looked up at Trey and frowned. “Well?”

“We don’t know honestly. We are just being extra cautious is all.” Trey rubbed her arm gently.

“Is there going to be a problem tonight?” Kailee bit her bottom l*p immediately she began to worry about Trey’s wellbeing.

“I’m sure everything is going to be fine. But we are erring on the side of caution. Which is why the four of us look alike. It will help us get a feel for everyone.” Trey smiled. “I wouldn’t be bringing you if I thought it was going to be dangerous.” He tried to reassure her. When he honestly did not know what to expect. But no matter what, Kailee would be safe. They would make her safety top priority.

“I’m not worried about myself, Trey. Remember I am stronger than you.” Kailee smirked as she listened to his chuckle. Grum and Lance were laughing as well.

“We suspect that your uncle will probably have some of his allies with him tonight. After what happened with Cresha he will be leery. He knows there are dragons here but doesn’t know exactly who. But he is highly suspicious of the Lord of Clover Estate. However, he isn’t suspicious of Ty and Phill. There may be a moment tonight where I will need to switch to being Ty. Which will be tricky with you and Jane around. If I need to do that you can’t look for me. Can you do that for me Kailee?”

Kailee shrugged. “I don’t see why that will be challenging. You are not much to look at anyways.”

Lance started snickering and covered his mouth before recovering. “Besides why would she need to look at you when I’d be the one replacing you for a dance partner.” He winked at Kailee.

“Careful Lance or I’ll tell your mate.” Trey watched as Lance only shrugged.

“Go ahead and tell her. See what happens. She won’t care because she knows I am devoted to her. We are not insecure with our relationship. I trust her and she trusts me. Not like a jealous prince we all know.” Lance grinned widely as he looked up to Trey.

“It isn’t a trust issue. I trust Kailee but that doesn’t mean I want anyone else touching what is mine. It is a possessive issue. I can’t help it. She’s mine. I won’t share.” Trey leaned his head lower to Kailee so that he was closer to her heavenly scent. With the half mask he was wearing he was able to gently k**s the top of her head. He smiled into her hair as he lifted back up to look at Lance. “She is my treasure alone.”

“Are you sure it was okay to come tonight? What if this power thing that is going to happen to me affects you badly and makes you vulnerable?” Kailee was nervous thinking about it. Trey wouldn’t take anything to lessen the effects either.

“Don’t worry Kailee. There is a whole group of us. Will and Phill will also be there. Everything is going to be fine.” Lance flashed her a reassuring smile.

“Don’t worry kitten. We will keep your prince safe.” Grum winked at her as he looked at them both. “Besides, we have to get him back in one piece to his kingdom.”

“What is it like there?” Kailee asked quietly. She was just now realizing that she would have to leave this area. This was where she grew up and she knew nothing of the world around her.

“Well the city is huge which lies within an outer wall. Then the castle is within the inner wall. It will take some time for you to be able to navigate through it without getting lost. But don’t worry you’ll learn.” Trey looked upward and smiled. “It will take us all time to adjust. Life there is different from here. It is more formal. I don’t get called by my name like I do here. It is always your highness and such.”

“Everyone else will be with us too, right?” Kailee asked quietly.

“Yes. Reggie will also stay with us in the heart of Monog. But things are a bit different for Grum and I.” Lance gave Kailee a small smile. “We aren’t lords. So our presence isn’t as welcomed. We are just a necessary nuisance.”

“Lance.” Trey frowned, not liking what he was hearing.

“I know you don’t feel that way Trey. But you can’t say others don’t. I am just the prince’s double and Grum is the prince’s first knight. It is just how it is.” Lance shrugged.

“Well, it isn’t like that to me. You guys are my family.” Kailee said with a frown. She then looked up at Trey. “I don’t like the idea of them getting snubbed. I won’t tolerate that. And you shouldn’t either. They are our brothers, aren’t they?”

Trey chuckled and nodded his head. “That’s right they are. I was young when I lived there before. But now that I am older, I will have more say. And once I am the king, we can make things however we want.”

“I think we have a pretty awesome little sister.” Lance said with a smile. He could see Grum was nodding his head in agreement. It was touching to hear Kailee feeling protective over them.

The carriage stopped in front of a white stone manor. There were torches lit lighting up the whole outside while the hum of music drifted from the inside. Trey hopped out and extended his hand to Kailee helping her. He tucked her arm into his and leaned closer to k**s her temple.

“Our first of many parties my love.” Trey watched her flash a smile up at him. “Ready?” She nodded her head and he escorted her inside. Lance and Grum were following close behind them.

Trey paused for a moment as he walked into the ballroom. He was giving Kailee a moment to take everything in but he was also scanning the room. He was sensing for any presence that was different. But oddly he didn’t notice any. Maybe everything was going to be okay after all?
