Who Is My Husband -
Scene 75
Bane turned his head to the battle in the distance and started to slowly move towards it. There was a lot of magic there he could feed upon. Trey growled and moved in front of the black creature. He let out a threatening growl as their eyes met.
Trey it is no use you can’t stop him! We need to regroup and come up with a plan. August yelled as he flapped his wings.
“No. My mate is inside of that thing. Like hell I am letting him go anywhere with her.” Trey spread his wings and flapped a threatening gust of wind towards Bane.
Bane curled his fangs up and stared down at Trey. He let out a loud screech as he tilted his head towards him.
Trey felt the energy burn in his throat as it glowed white. Once again, he pushed his energy out and sent it hurling towards Bane. When the white light hit him, it seemed the creature of darkness was stunned from the impact. He bellowed loudly and shook his head snarling.
Kailee… baby can you hear me? Trey hoped he could still reach her. It would show that she was still very much connected to this place.
Trey!
Trey felt immediate relief in his chest when he heard her voice.
Trey, I found my grandmother, but she is weak. The two of us together can’t get out of here.
Can you use me? Use me as an anchor to pull you back.
_
Kailee could feel her connection to Trey. She grabbed onto her grandmother and tried to project them to Trey, but it was as if the darkness was sealing them in tighter. It was trying to absorb her strength like it did with her grandmother.
“Kailee?” Corra asked.
“If I can form a strong enough connection to my mate then I should be able to get us out of here.” Kailee watched a realization strike across her grandmother’s face.
“Of course. I couldn’t do that since this is my mates’ body but you should be able to use him as a ground.” Corra looked down then, her sad eyes met with Kailee. “You can’t do it in this form though. You will need to embrace all of your magic Kailee. You need to turn into the source of light magic. You must become one with your unicorn self.”
Kailee bit her bottom l*p. She had wondered this too. Trey… I am going to have to shift into my unicorn. I’m sorry.
Baby, you are my mate no matter what form you are in. I just want you here with me. Just come back to me already. Your grandfather’s body looks hungry, and I think I am on the menu. Trey chuckled as he continued to square off against the darkness.
Kailee smiled and touched her chest. Trey was right. No matter what he was still hers. Though their relationship may have to change a bit, she could still be near him. Trey… hold on. I’m coming.
Kailee lifted her eyes to her grandmother. “Save the little strength you have left. I’m going to get us out of here and purify grandfather.”
“You can do this Kailee. You have more power than you even know. And once you are in your unicorn body you will finally be able to feel it. We are the source of light and you will be able to call upon all of it.” Corra smiled sadly. “This is my fault. I should have done that in the beginning. But I was afraid of never being with your grandfather again and I thought I could purify him within. But instead, I was encapsulated in this body where I couldn’t touch the darkness.”
Kailee smiled and shook her head. “This is no one’s fault but the demons who caused this in the first place.”
Kailee then closed her eyes. There was not a moment to lose she needed to protect Trey. He was out there right now facing off against Bane. She searched within herself in the darkness of her mind. She watched as a white light grew brighter and brighter in her mind. A unicorn shining in all its brilliance ran up to her and stood just in front of her. It was like a mirror showing her her true self. She slowly reached out and touched the other half of her soul. The moment she did a calm warmth flowed over her body. She felt herself changing at the same time, it was as if she was being unlocked from a cage.
“You are beautiful my sweet granddaughter.” Corra reached out and rested her hand on Kailee’s back. “Well, guys it looks like we will be getting out of here. Just continue to hold on a bit longer.”
Kailee looked at Corra in confusion.
She smiled at Kailee. “My stewards and keeper are here. They have been protecting me all these years as the energy in this capsule.” Corra motioned around the room.
“They are alive?” Kailee asked shocked.
“Of course. They were not killed and I am still alive. So they are too. They will return to their form once we are out of this darkness.”
Kailee smiled in relief. “Then Sorsha’s mother is still alive.”
“I’m sorry your mother is no longer with us though. Even though I was in here I knew what has happened with Meera. I wish I would have been able to reunite with my daughter but having you is a wonderful blessing.” Corra smiled and then looked at Kailee with determined eyes.
“Now connect yourself to the light and feel your mates’ heart. Listen to his soul calling for you and follow the sound to him.”
__
B***d dripped onto the ground from the orange dragon. He inhaled deeply and unleashed his fire towards the opposing demons in front of him. While they were distracted by the fire in front of them Sorsha leapt up through their shadows sinking her fangs into them. Their b***d spilt onto the ground as the quieting sounds of the battle continued to soften. There were only a few more enemies left… their side had won.
A vivid white light shined brightly from behind them. Lance slowly moved his injured body turning in the direction of the light.
“What is all of that?” He gasped.
Sorsha’s eyes widened. “That’s… that’s… my mother.” She said in shock. She turned her head to Reggie.
“Let’s go. They can handle the rest here.” Reggie said motioning his head in the direction of Bane.
“Oh no.” Lance said as the light dimmed down. The others all looked on as well. “Kailee is in her unicorn form.”
They all exchanged a look between one another. They were not sure what this would mean now. But they knew that once a unicorn took on its original form, they would not be able to choose a human form again.
“Bethany and I will take care of the stragglers. Will and Phill will stay here with us as well. We will join you shortly.” Grum said quietly. “Trey may need support right now.”
Reggie nodded his head and the three dragons lifted into the air. Lance was a bit slower due to his injuries that were slowly healing.
__
“Corra!” August shouted and landed next to her.
“August.” Corra smiled at the phoenix as she scooped him in her arms. “We need to get back. This fight isn’t over.” She looked at Kailee. “You can do this.” She walked backwards towards another shadow looking dragon with four little men near its feet.
“Kailee.” Trey said and leaned his head down to gently nuzzle into her.
Kailee’s white mane and tail waved in the breeze as the two stared into each other’s eyes. She managed to escape out of Bane but now she had a job to finish. She was going to remove the darkness with her light.
“What do you need of me?” Trey asked. Lance, Reggie and Sorsha all landed behind him. Sorsha immediately walked up to the other shadow dragon, her mother.
A loud angry bellow was heard and Bane sent his black smoke out towards them. Kailee’s horn shone with light as a white shield blocked the darkness.
“I need everyone to get back. Except for my grandparents. I will need to put August back inside once I purify Bane.” Kailee held her focus on the light shield as Bane tried to smash against it.
Trey nodded his head. This was Kailee’s show now. There was nothing any of them could do. “You heard her. Everyone back up.” He kept his eyes on her wanting to say more but there wasn’t time. Bane was now starting to beat on her light shield with its claws. He reluctantly took a few steps back but not going as far as everyone else. He would stay close just in case. For her, he would use his own body as a shield in order to protect her.
Kailee turned and faced the creature that was void of a soul. Right now it was a mindless existence being fueled by pure evil. She lowered her light shield and slowly walked towards the creature. Her grandmother was right. Now that she was in her unicorn form everything just seemed to make sense. The world was clear. Even what she needed to do now was clear. She understood herself and her energy. Unlike when she was in the spirit world this was different. It was almost as if she was being joined with the energy of the unicorns of the past. They were uniting with her in spirit.
She continued to slowly walk forward. Her white hooves took one slow step at a time towards the darkness. Bane lashed out towards her but his dark only ricocheted off of her. Black strands of smoke whipped over her but never reached her. A soft glow emitted off of her body that continued to block the darkness.
Her horn glowed and white energy spiraled around it. She continued walking deeper into the darkness and through Bane’s smoke. She finally reached his tar like center.
“It is time to be who you are once again. The forest needs their spirit.” Kailee leaned her head forward. Her horn touched the black substance and a blinding light engulfed them. The light surrounded Corra and August as well.
A warm energy flowed around Kailee and into Bane. Little by little the darkness began to shrink. The white light swirled in a circle as the spirits whispered to Kailee. And for a moment she felt her own parents gentle light as warm hands on her neck. As if they were supporting her and encouraging her. Inwardly she smiled as she felt the dampness in her big brown eyes. And through their warmth, she knew how to finish purifying Bane.
It wasn’t a matter of strength and power. It was something very simple. To remove the darkness and hate from his heart she needed to overcome it with something else. And that was love. She would push her love for everyone outwards. The love for her family, her new family and her love for Trey. She would embed his heart with the light of this love and return him into August, the forest spirit.
The light around her suddenly imploded as the darkness vanished. She staggered back on shaking legs and felt herself being steadied by warm hands. She turned and looked at Trey who had shifted back into his human form. He smiled at her and rubbed her head. “You are magnificent Kailee.”
She turned her head to look at her grandmother reaching out to the man in front of her.
“August…” Her voice whispered.
“Corra.” August reached his arms out and wrapped her tightly into his embrace. “Thank the heavens.”
Sparks squawked loudly and then flapped into the sky. He flew in circles around August and Corra and then over to Kailee. With one more loud squawk, he then took off heading towards the forest.
“Those were just squawks to you too, right?” Trey chuckled as Kailee nodded her head. Without August’s voice, Sparks sounded like a regular phoenix.
Corra and August walked over towards Kailee.
“Thank you, Kailee. You have saved us both.” Corra said with a smile.
“I’m glad you ignored me and decided to purify Bane.” August chuckled still holding Corra close. “I’m terribly sorry though…” He looked at her form and frowned. “You do know you can’t return back to the kingdom of Monog in this form, right? It will be too dangerous.”
Trey chuckled and sifted his fingers through Kailee’s mane. “Whatever WE decide will be our choice. I think we can make our own decisions on what is best from here on out.” Sure he might be talking to an ancient forest spirit and another unicorn but Kailee was HIS. Kailee was stuck in this form because of them. He understood their concern, but it was not their business. It was theirs.
“I’ve never seen a unicorn before. You are amazing Kailee.” Lance said walking up to them.
“Of course she is amazing. She is a unicorn.” Pyro said rolling his eyes. The four gnomes popped up in front of Kailee and looked over in the distance.
“So the other stewards are alive?” Koma asked and looked over at them curiously.
“Maybe they can give us pointers in the future on how to deal with these troublesome unicorns.” Dio said winking up at Kailee.
“Oh, your stewards are a feisty bunch aren’t they?” Corra giggled. “I think you will replace my group to be much more reserved and calm. But please go and speak with them.”
“We will. Thank you.” Grant said and the four men projected in the distance.
Kailee watched as Sorsha hugged a woman with tears in her eyes. Sorsha motioned over to Reggie and introduced her mother to her mate.
Grum and Bethany walked up having just shifted out of their dragon form. “The battle is over on our end. Alistair and Oliver are scouting the area for any stragglers. And Will and Phill are checking the ground through the skies. But as soon as Bane disappeared a large group of them also vanished. So, I guess that means those in the Order have all been taken care of now.”
“Yes, that is my understanding of how it would work.” Sorsha said walking over with Reggie and her mother.
“This is my mother, Eva.” Sorsha said smiling. “She is Corra’s keeper.”
“I know us dragons don’t age but…” Grum smirked and looked at Reggie. “It seems to me like you are dating a woman who is quite older than you.”
“Sorsha was older than Kailee’s mother. She was a child when all of this happened while Meera was a baby.” Corra added with a smile.
“Eh, we all stop aging once we reach full maturity so that doesn’t matter to me.” Reggie winked at Sorsha. What he wanted to say was that just meant he got a more experienced woman, but he didn’t think that was appropriate with her mother right there.
“I’ll be staying with Corra and August in the forest. But you are welcome to come and visit me all the time.” Eva said smiling at her daughter.
“I’ll be staying with Kailee.” Sorsha turned and looked at the unicorn. “What are our plans now?”
Reggie rubbed the back of his neck. “A unicorn at the castle would stick out like a sore thumb…”
Trey curled his fingers into Kailee’s mane. No matter what he couldn’t be separated from her. Even if things couldn’t be the same with her, he still desired to have her close.
Kailee looked around quietly as all eyes rested on her for her decision.
