Chapter 74

Rico’s POV

I rise up before the sun. I g***n. I haven’t had a decent sleep in the last few weeks since Shianna and Jess were taken from us. I get up, shower and dress. I head to the dining room. I feel hungry, but not craving anything special. I first grab one of the many coffee pots in the kitchen and pour me a hot cup. I usually put in some sugar, but since I haven’t been sleeping well I have been taking it black.

“Morning bro.” I hear someone call me as I take my first hot sip of caffeine. I turned and saw a disheveled Sasha trunking into the kitchen. “Wow the world must be ending if you got up early.” I teased her. Sasha is the kind of person that would stay up for about three days straight rather than get up early to get something done. She glared at me. “Shut the hell up. It was Nathan’s fault. The slippery bastard.” She mumbled the last part.

I chuckled and handed her another mug with some black coffee. Sasha is a bit of a coffee addict sometimes. Even though the coffee is hot, she downs the first cup in a few gulps and makes another one with only 2 sugars. “We need to replace some stronger coffee. Even without my sugars it is still too mild for me.” She said. I roll my eyes. “Why not just make your own special pot where you can double the amount everyone else uses.” I suggest. Only Sasha and Zero like extra strong coffee. I can’t see anyone else drinking it if they make it.

As we talk about coffee… The triplets, Alpha Roy, and Alpha Raphael walk into the kitchen as well. Each makes themselves a cup of coffee to their own taste. It was slightly calm for us, but I guess this was the calming before the storm that was coming our way in a few hours. I took a deep breath as I finished my coffee. I then excused myself from the alpha’s presence and made my way back to my room.

I changed out of my normal clothes and into my fighting wear. They looked like regular pants and shirts, but the material was especially strong and it works like armor. It is strong and lit, but like other clothes it will shred if I shift with it on. This was better for fighting in human form, but I want to be prepared for anything. I feel like it was my fault my luna was taken. I was supposed to protect her. Both as the beta of the pack and as her protector the Moon Goddess herself created for her.

I hear a knock on my door. I don’t answer. The scent already tells me who it is. The door then burst open with great force. “Was that really necessary?” I asked, turning my head and raising an eyebrow at my now broken door. “Hey I did knock first. You wanted to be the jerk and not answer me.” Sasha said with a bright smile. I scowl at her and look away.

Sasha came up from behind me and jumped on my back. I stumbled a bit, as she caught me off guard. “What are you, a kid?” I asked. She clinged around me tighter. “I will always be your kid sister, even if you are only a few minutes older than me. But right now I am your twin and co-beta. I feel what you feel and know what you are thinking.” I clench my fist and scowl, even though I know she can’t see my face. “

We will get them both back. But know that it was not only your fault our luna was captured… It was mine as well. We both were her protectors and we both are her betas.” her arms wrapped tighter around my shoulders. “Remember what mom and dad always told us?” She asked, I nod. “They said that we were born together and we would live life together. The weight of our title and duties are not for just one of us to bare alone.” I said, answering her question.

“That’s right, so we bare our success and our failures together. You forget that again and next time I will call mom and dad.” she said in a smart a*s tone. I laugh and then fling her off my back and she lands on the bed. “Was that really necessary?” she asked, glaring at me. “I gave you plenty of chances to get off my back, but like a little leetch you stayed put.” I smiled at her. Then we both burst out laughing. Then we both get a mindlink.

Alpha Leo – Time to go. Move out!

His orders rang clear through the link. I looked at Sasha and she nodded at me. We dashed out of my room at wolf speed and to the front. We would be taking the off road vehicles to cut some travel time, but once we get to a mile before the mist we would continue on foot. Brandon and Sabrina were on one of the ATVs and I grabbed a dirtbike and we all rode off to the forbidden black mountain.
