Chapter 3: Revelations
Amelia returned from her conversation with her mother, her heart heavy with the weight of the revelations she had just learned. She found Jace waiting anxiously in their small study, the Book of Secrets open before him. His eyes lit up with hope as he saw her return.
"Amelia, what did you replace out?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.
Amelia took a deep breath, her eyes locking with Jace's. "Jace, you won't believe what my mother told me. It's about the prophecy, the one we read in the Book of Secrets."
Jace leaned forward, his curiosity piqued. "Tell me, Amelia. What did she say?"
Amelia began to recount her conversation with her mother, explaining how the prophecy had always haunted her, making her fear that her existence would bring destruction. She described how her mother had revealed that the prophecy wasn't about her but about her long-lost sister, Alicia, whom she had never known existed.
As Amelia spoke, Jace's expression shifted from curiosity to astonishment and concern. "Alicia?" he repeated, as if trying to process this new information. "Your sister? But how could you not have known?"
Amelia nodded. "I never knew. My parents kept it hidden from me, fearing the prophecy's consequences. They believed that Alicia was the one destined to bring destruction."
Jace's brow furrowed in thought. "So, your parents sent her away, to live among humans, and they sealed her powers?"
Amelia nodded again. "Exactly. They did it to protect both of us, to prevent the prophecy from coming true."
Jace's hand reached out to gently touch Amelia's. "Amelia, this changes everything. It means that you're not the one destined for destruction. You're not a threat."
A sense of relief washed over Amelia as she realized the implications of her mother's revelation. "I know, Jace. But now, I must prepare. My sister, Alicia, has started to grow in power, and she wields the elements of fire and wind."
Jace squeezed her hand, his eyes filled with determination. "We'll face this together, Amelia. We'll make sure Alicia doesn't bring about the destruction mentioned in the prophecy."
Amelia smiled, grateful for Jace's unwavering support. "I knew I could count on you, Jace. We have to learn all the elements to stand a chance against her. I must be ready for whatever lies ahead."
With their hands tightly entwined, they began their journey of discovery, knowing that their love and determination would be their greatest weapons against the looming threat of Amelia's long-lost sister.
