Wing Of Change
Chapter 100: Epilogue

Seven years has gone by so quickly_and nothing has changed with the Okoji’s as they seemed to be growing side by side and deeper in love with each other with each passing day.

Frank was still the perfect husband and father to their daughter. Even his staffs at the office could swear that he was now a better boss than what he used to be. With the new promotional policy that include a fat cheque and family trip to vacation outside the country during the holiday season was enough to make him the best employer of each year.

To say everything was moving on well was an understatement. Their lives was close to being perfect.

Aria on the other hand would visit her parent occasionally with her daughter so she could get to meet her cousins and grandparent. She decided to quit her job at the publishing firm at some point just so she could focus more on spending as much time with her family as she possibly could while taking up writing as a side hobby.

Her little girl was a handful and so full of life. Aria couldn’t love her any more than she already do as everyday she spent taking care of her was something she would never trade for anything else.

Evergreen was her little joy giver.

Too wise for her age.

Her level of Curiosity was just about unbelievable. To think that she wanted to know why her stomach was not as big as her mother’s even though they eat almost the same food was expected_knowing how curious she could be.

At some point_ She thought something was visibly wrong with her mother stomach when she realized how big it was becoming._What she called ‘bloated’ was Aria actually being pregnant again with their second child.

Aria was already nine months gone as she was heavily pregnant and almost due for her delivery. she could barely reach her toe at that point.

This particular day started out just fine with Aria being beautifully dressed in a red flowing gown, with her braids up in a perfect ponytail and its tip trailing both her shoulders in a hot mess.

She had a mini red dress in one hand and with the other hand, clutching the sea of clothe pooling at her feet as she was seen hurrying after Evergreen who was running around happily and out of her mother’s reach.

“C’mon sweetie. You need to stop running or we will be late for your uncle and aunty’s wedding”

“No! I don’t want to go” the little girl had called back as she kept running further away from her mother who was still hot on her tail and almost tripped over but kept going still.

Aria came to an abrupt stop when she realized chasing after her wasn’t a good idea which only prompted the little girl to stop as well.

“You know we can’t miss out dear. We promised your aunty that we will be there and also on time”

“No mother!”

Aria took a step closer and tried to reach for her but she was quicker than she expected as she dodged and skipped down the stair way instead, causing Aria to g***n out loud.

“Come back here Ever!” Her voice a cry of frustration.

Frank was nowhere in sight and Aria was no match for the little girl who was having the time of her life while giving her mother countless reasons to pull out her already rolled up braids in anger.

Evergreen yelp in surprise when she ran into her father at the foot of the stair and was quickly picked up into his arms.

“Why are you running little one? Are you being naughty again?” he cooed at her ears causing her to giggle even more.

Aria finally caught up with both father and daughter and sigh in relief. But before she could say anything, her husband beat her to it.

“Let me guess? She doesn’t want to go to the wedding?” Frank had asked knowing fully well why his pregnant wife was looking like she is about to cry.

“She doesn’t even want to put on her dress. I mean look at her”

Evergreen was still dressed in her white inner and matching socks when her father pulled away a little to look back at her.

“Don’t worry dear. Hand me the clothe and I will take care of it” he assured her before reaching for the dress.

“Be quick or we will be late” she told him before walking away with a puff of breath.

As soon as his wife was out of sight, he walked over to the sofa still carrying his daughter and sat on it before turning her around to face him.

“So tell me little one_why don’t you want to go to the wedding?”

“I don’t knowww” She answered in a sing song voice.

“How about we get you into this very pretty dress and then you can decide whether you want to go or not”

She gave a small nod and her father took that as his cue to get her dressed. A few more minutes and she was looking like a princess in her red dress.

He took a step back to admire his little girl even more.

“Now look at you little lady. You look like a princess”

Her eyes only grew wide at her father’s compliment. “You mean like princesss Sofiaa?”

Frank wasn’t sure who she was referring to but he agreed either way and a huge smile broke out on her face exposing her tooth hole.

“If princess Sofia was as half pretty as you are right now then yes my little one”

She ran back to her father and hugged his legs before he pulled her up into his arms for a hug.

“Thank you Dad!”

“You welcome princess” He held her for a moment; just wondering how much his little girl has impacted his life. Who would have thought a day like this would be possible.

If only his father could see him now and all he have become.

He pulled back a little to place a k**s against her forehead. Frank only smiled when he got one against his cheek in return.

He was a damn lucky man and he knew it!

“Do you want to go show your mom?”

“Yesss!”

“Let go then”

The wedding reception was huge with crowd of people seating around decorated tables with mouth watering refreshment which ranges from a bottle of champagne_bottle waters and small chops_mixed with fried chicken wings. Evergreen who didn’t want to go along with her parent earlier was seen, munching on her plate of chops and chicken.

At least she was enjoying the food if not the whole party in itself.

The DJ music was so loud that it was almost deafening with the bride and her groom each trying to out do each other on the dance floor as guest began to gather around the dancing couple to spray them bank notes.

Aria sat with tense shoulders as she kept biting down against her lower lips with a pained expression to top it off. She seemed to be in pain when she reached for a bottle of water and drank little from it before replacing the cap with a deep sigh.

Evergreen noticed the pained expression on her mother’s face and stopped eating before calling at her mother to get her attention.

“Mommy? Mommy! Are you okay?”

Realizing the worried expression on her daughter’s face_She quickly forced a smile on her own tired face as she took hold of her chin. “I’m fine sweetheart. But I need you to go get your dad for me okay?. He is over there”

“Okay mommy”

Aria helped her down from her seat and pointed her towards her father direction with the hope that she would get to him sooner than she ever could. She could very well feel the all too familiar baby pressure weighing in around her lower abdomen not to know what it meant.

It was time!

The baby was coming

Frank who was completely distracted by his best friend Kelvin who also happens to be the groom was far from paying attention to his daughter who was making her way through the crowd of dancers as she call out to him over and over again.

Evergreen who was determined to get to her father at the far end of the crowded hall was knocked down when she ran into a foot of table with a bang but no one seemed to have noticed as she winced in pain and tried to get back up.

While still trying to get up on her feet, she noticed a hand coming to her rescue as they aid her back on her feet.

It was a little boy of about ten years of age and a lot taller than she was. He sure doesn’t look familiar as she stared wryly at the new kid still wincing in pain.

“Are you okay?” He asked her and she gave a nod not sure if she wanted to cry in front of the new kid staring at her with pity.

“Where are your parent?_mine are over there” he pointed back at the direction of his parent who were seating not far off from her own mother in a separate table.

“I want to get my dad! Mom is not feeling okay” she finally found her voice and made a sentence.

“Do you know where he is?” He asked again searching her face curiously.

“He is over there with_with uncle Kel and his wife”

The little boy looked over her shoulder and at the direction she was pointing at and nodded at her in approval.

“Come then, I will take you”

Evergreen hesitated for a bit before following him.

“Okay!”

While her father was rushing her mother toward their car so they can get her to the hospital. Evergreen was still wondering who the boy from earlier was as she sat at the back of her father’s car and staring out through the window and back at the boy who stood among the crowd who had followed them into the parking lot when they realized a lady among them has gone into labour while in their mist.

In her little mind, she wondered if she would see him again or if he went to the same school as her. Maybe she would see him again but then again, she never got his name.

And she might never see him again or would she? Only time would tell.

Two hours later, Aria was delivered of a baby boy and nothing could make them any happier than they already are and even more in love.

They have just about a lot to thank God for and when I said a lot? I mean a whole lot.

End!!!.
