Wing Of Change -
Chapter 47
** (written in Henry’s POV)
I placed a little knock against her door and just kept waiting. I know she is in there. I saw her come in earlier so am pretty sure she is around.
I thought I even heard laughter from in there.
I waited for another more minutes and before I heard footsteps approached from inside. I quickly pushed myself off the wall as I straighten up a bit and even adjusted my collar. I don’t even know why I bother when she won’t even notice.
The door finally came apart to reveal a pretty face staring back at me and it wasn’t Aria.
Was I at the wrong door?
Can’t be_have been here countless time so who is this lady? Well before I could ask who she was, she threw the same damn question at me, catching me off guard.
“I’m Lizzy!, who are you?”
“Henry!_my name is Henry. And I happened to be Aria next door neighbour so who are you?” I practically stammered.
I never stammers especially not while am talking to a lady but this one got me feeling uncomfortable with her questioning eyes.
“Her best friend” she simply said with a proud gaze.
Now that explains the attitude she was giving me but am not here to look at her face so the sooner I ask after who I came for, the better.
“Nice to meet you too but is she in?” I asked.
“Yes_is she expecting you perhaps?”her brow was still raised as her eyes scanned me over.
“No! Am just here to check on her”
“Okay; do you want to come in? Aria is busy in the kitchen”
Do I want to go in? Of course I want to. I mean what’s the point of coming to her door step if my only aim is to talk to a stranger at the door and just turn around.
The aroma coming from her apartment won’t let me walk away either as it hit me right across the face and pulled me in even before I could answer her plus I wanted to see Aria’s face.
Haven’t seen her for days now.
“Uh sure”
She quickly moved to the side to let me through as I walked past her and head for inside.
I heard Aria’s voice from the kitchen followed by her head poking through.
“Hey you!” She smiled.
I stare back at her with a smile of my own. Aria has that smile that would make my heart moon walk every time she smiles at me. She looked beautiful with her hair pulled up in a pony tail and dressed in that polo shirt..
“Hey” I breath.
“You came at the right time”
“I did?” Sounding unsure and so out of place.
She gave a light chuckled before replying.
“Yes you did Henry. I bet you already met my friend Lizzy at the door?”
I turned swiftly to spare the lady staring at me a second glance as I nod to Aria’s question.
“Good then. Do make yourself comfortable while I finish up in the kitchen.”
I took a seat further away from her best friend of course but not enough to keep her from staring a hole through me like there was another head growing on my shoulder that I wasn’t aware of.
I mean; didn’t anyone tell her it’s rude to just stare at someone without saying anything?_we are both adults for crying out loud.
But on a second glance_she doesn’t seem to be staring at me in an intimidating way but a rather interesting one_like I was a piece of meat she wanted to take a bite at.
Creepy…
I cleared my throat and adjusted on the cushion as my eyes met hers briefly before looking away. In that split moment, I couldn’t help but noticed how pretty she was. She has a well defined cheekbone and a pointed nose that was slightly upward on the edge making her face very pronounced.
Her lips looked a bit dry, painted in red and those dark colors around her eyes makes them really small yet piercing enough. She was pretty no doubt dressed in a knee length yellow gown that was revealing way too much but she wasn’t as beautiful as compared to Aria and I wouldn’t trade my feelings for her for anyone either.
Our eyes met again and I was forced to smile at her and she smiled back.
She was about to say something when Aria walked back in holding two trays of food.
“Food is ready guys…jump in before it get cold”
Well whatever she was about to say will have to wait as we both got up and followed Aria to the dinning area
I sat between Aria and her friend at the table while she offered to say the grace and we all have to hold hands and in that brief seconds, I could only pray for it to be over faster than it started.
I didn’t like the fact that she was caressing my knuckles rather than holding my hands as per customs demand.
I quickly let go of her hands as soon as the ‘Amen’ was said.
“I’m sorry for the food quantity though, I didn’t realized I would be having you over” said Aria looking at me apologetically.
“This is more than okay” I assured her with a smile.
Her food taste just as delicious as always but I couldn’t eat much. I had suddenly lost my appetite due to the fact that her friend won’t stop raping me with her eyes of course. I knew I had to leave before things get more embarrassing for either of us and especially Aria.
I was still deep in thought while I ate my plate of rice before I heard Aria called my name.
“Sorry?” I asked turning to her.
“I asked if you are okay?. You don’t seem like the normal you”
“Oh no, am okay, I just remembered what I wanted to do and haven’t and am afraid is urgent. You don’t mind if I excuse myself do you?”
“Oh no, it’s okay Henry. I really do not mind and I don’t think my friend will mind either, right Lizzy?”
Lizzy gave a careless shrug and turned to Aria.
“Of course i don’t mind… I just wished we could have had more time to get to know each other better”
Hell no, I practically screamed at her but had to keep my cool.
“Maybe next time but for now, I need to take my leave and thanks for the lunch” I turned to Aria with a smile as I stood up from the chair and walked out.
Aria was too naïve not to have noticed the way her friend was hitting on me back there but who could blame her.
She is always so clueless to a lot of things just like she doesn’t realize she is the only woman I love and will ever want to have.
Until then…..
I will be waiting….
