Wing Of Change
Chapter 68

Aria sat against the bed with both her hands grabbing the sheets hard. Her nose flared in anger with her heart breaking in the worst way ever.

She was pregnant and alone!

The word alone was scary enough but she wasn’t going to allow herself fall apart just yet. She needed to be strong for the little soul growing right inside of her even though it likely going to end up without a father.

She let her arms circled around her midrib as she began to bawled even more into the sheets covering her laps over and over again.

Aria sat in that same position for a while before she felt two strong arms wrapped around her in comfort.

The relief that overcame her was immediate and so overwhelming as she quickly leaned back into his arms a little more with her eyes closed.

She let him hold her for a while with neither of them saying a single word before a thought crossed her mind.

“Why did you come back?” She asked through hiccups and sniffs.

“That’s because I never left”

The sound of his voice got her pulling away as she turned to stare at Henry before wiping her eyes.

“What are you doing here?”

“I saw your boyfriend leaving in a fit of rage so I thought I should come check on you just to make sure you are okay before leaving only to replace you in this condition”

“I want to go home”

“What? Are you sure? Did the doctor say you can go?” Henry had asked all in one sentence.

“I don’t know but I have to leave or am going to loose my mind staying here”

“Wait here, let me go consult the doctor and you will be out of here”

“Thank you Henry for doing this”

“I will be right back. Just seat still”

“OKay”

**

Aria sat in the passenger seat with her head resting against the side window while Henry drove her home in the silent of the night.

It was pass 11pm when they left the hospital.

The silence that stretches between them was deafening as they were both quiet with Henry focusing on the road that lies ahead and Aria not being in the mood to discuss her problem with him either.

She doesn’t know how he did it but Henry was able to convinced the doctor to let her go even though the doctor had insisted that she needed more rest and could leave the next day.

Her hand wandered to her stomach again and just stayed there when she remembered the condition she was going to be in from that moment onward.

“Hey!” She heard him calling at her when the car came to a stop in front of their apartment.

“We are home now”

Aria shot him an appreciative smile before adding.

“Thank you”

She got down with careful steps as she began to drag herself inside. she made it an inch closer to the entrance before she heard Henry’s voice calling at her.

“Wait!”

She came to a halt as she turned around to look at Henry who quickly hurried to her side.

“Are you sure you can walk?”

His question got her wondering if he knew what could be going on with her and then it hit her_ of course the doctor must have told him too. Who was she kidding? He has been acting extra careful around her since he came back from the doctor’s office.

“The doctor told you, didn’t he?”

His eyes darted away from her and back on the floor before he answered with a nod.

Aria could only sigh in exhaustion.

“I’m only pregnant Henry. Am not dying so yeah I can walk so thank you”

She began to walk away again with him trailing her from behind.

“Okay ma’am. I was just making sure you know?” His voice held a playful jest as followed her along.

“Yeah thanks”

She made it to her door step and took out her keys to unlock the door while Henry stood watching with careful eyes.

She pulled the door open and went inside with Henry still standing by the door way.

“Do you want me to come in?” He had asked still looking at her.

“No Henry. I’m tired and am sure you are too so how about we both go to sleep?”

Henry was quiet for a moment before pushing himself off the wall.

“Are you sure you will be okay?”

“Yeah, I will be fine. Thank you for everything. Goodnight”

He answered with a nod as he turned to walk away.

“Goodnight.”

She pushed the door closed and locked it safely before leaning back against the door frame with a deep sigh.

Aria has never felt so overwhelmed in her entire years of existence before as she leaned against the door with both her hands caressing gently across her abdomen with a lost expression on her face.

The thought of her parent crossed her mind for a split second_ causing her heart to skip a beat. She hasnt thought of their reaction up until that very moment.

She could just imagine the lecture she would be getting from her mom not to mention her aunty Lucy who always sees someone mistake as a perfect opportunity to question their upbringing and even worst? Their morals as well.

The thought of it all made her angry as tears threatened to spill through again.

Aria knew she couldn’t face them. At least not yet. Especially not when she has done the one thing her parent had always preached against while she was growing up. And Now?_ what would they think of her when they replace out she is expecting a child out of wedlock and even worst, for a man who doesn’t even want to claim responsibility as well.

The list of her worries was endless as she let her feet give in to the pull of gravity before she sank onto the floor and just sat there while hugging her knees.

Things would have been a lot differently if Frank was being reasonable or even beside her like he should have but he wasn’t and that annoys her to no end.

The thought of having to explain to her family why she is pregnant without a boyfriend is hard enough to deal with.

She felt her stomach grumble for a bit as she got back up on her feet before she began to soothe it while speaking to her flat abdomen.

“Hey little one. I hope you are okay in there because mommy is going to need you to be okay for her. Your daddy is a little bit upset right now but we have to hang in there for him okay?”

Her stomach couldn’t stop grumbling which reminded her that she needed to eat something even though she has no appetite for food.

She walked over to the fridge and pulled it open before proceeding to grabbing her almost empty bucket of vanilla ice cream before heading towards the bedroom.

Each spoonful tasted better than the previous one until she scooped the last cream and licked it clean with a satisfied grin plastering her face before placing the container beside the lamp stand.

She realized how much her stomach has stopped grumbling after a minute or two while she continued to rub at it with a smile that converse exactly how she was feeling on the inside before she lay back against the bed and went under the covers.

She pulled in the nearest pillow and hugging it tight against her chest before dozing off.
