Wing Of Change
Chapter 7

“Miss Davis?” His voice resounded in her ears yet again and jolted her back to reality. Her eyes traveled from his face down to his fingers that were tightly wrapped around her wrist before settling back on his face again in disbelief.

Aria was a nervous wreck at this point as they stood staring at each other.

“How_how did you?” She began to stammer but he caught her off guard with a question of his own as he pulled her another step closer.

“I should be asking you the same question Miss Davis but_” he paused and looked at her more intently and even sniffed the air around her.

“Are you drunk?” He asked her with a frown before releasing his grip around her wrist.

“Me drunk?” Aria had asked with a giggle and staggered backward, away from his intimidating presence but still close enough to smell his cologne.

She could recognized it anywhere

Anytime. But now was not the time to focus on what the man standing in front of her smelled like but just how not to get judged by him after getting kissed out of the blue by her like a drunk lady.

Drunk lady?

Aria wasn’t drunk but knew she had to act that way. I mean_how else could she explain her reason for kissing a total stranger who also turned out to be none other than her very own boss.

Ex boss rather!

Speak of terrible coincidence.

This must be karma setting her up for disaster. The sooner she got out of there?_the better.

“Why are you speaking that way miss Davis ?_am I correct to think you are actually drunk?”

“Uhm, yeah_no! I mean, am really sorry about the uhm, little l*p contact thing that happened. That was just me being really drunk and foolish. So please excuse me boss_I will be heading back to my seat now” she gave a short chuckle and turned to leave but he held her back.

“Wait!_ not so fast miss Davis or should I say Aria?”

She had to bit her tongue hard to keep from answering. It was already bad enough that he even recognized her.

“Aria is just fine!”

He gave a nod at her statement and stepped closer to her. “So Aria, are you going to stick around and finish what you started or you are just going to run away and pretend like it never did!”

Aria gave a mental shrug at his question before Lizzy had interrupted. “I’m sorry Mister but is there a problem?”

Frank only rose a brow at Lizzy’s direction but said nothing to reply her while Aria on the other hand just stood by with tight lips.

Lizzy could feel the growing tension between them even though none of them was saying anything so to put everyone at ease, she turned to Frank with clamped palms.

“Look Mister_that’s all my fault okay? I put her up for the kissing a stranger part so if you are upset which is totally understandable then it should be directed at me not her even though it shouldn’t be since she practically gave away her very first k**s to you for free” Lizzy had ended her little speech with a wink at Aria.

“Really now? And how would you know it’s her very first k**s?” Frank had asked cockily as he kept staring at the lady claiming to be Aria’s friend and insinuating what he thought she could be getting at.

Lizzy only scoffed at his comment and took a step towards Aria and pulled her close to her side before replying. “I’m her best friend! Can’t you tell?”

Frank looked between both ladies and shook his head. “No I don’t to be honest. There is no matching resemblance saying you two are best friends and last time I checked? She had none” he stated coldly with a frown.

Lizzy’s mouth went agape at his statement and clamp shut again. Who exactly does he think he was to question their friendship. “And who are you? Because the last time I checked, you were just a stranger she kissed not quite long ago!”

Aria pulled her by the hand in an attempt to shush her but to no avail.

“You need to stop embarrassing me Liz. You are talking to my boss” Aria had spoken through gritted teeth as she got Lizzy’s attention at last.

“But I thought you had quit your job and there is no more boss to worry about” Lizzy had whispered back at her in disbelief.

Frank only scoffed at both ladies. “Is that so?” He asked with the deepest of frown as he allowed himself the privilege of butting into their conversation.

“How about you stop eavesdropping on other people conversation and go back to minding your goddamn business already” Lizzy had snapped right at him causing Aria to gasp at her audacity.

This must be the reason she loves Lizzy so freaking much.

“I won’t call that eavesdropping because you weren’t exactly as private as you thought you were so back to the matter at hand. Did you say am her first k**s?”

“No it’s not like that. Lizzy was just kidding around” Aria had replied instead with a fake nervous laugh and at the same time wondering why she could be feeling embarrassed at all.

“Okay then. Can I buy you ladies some drinks too? I mean, so that we can all catch up on your new life, because I can see how much fun you are having kissing out here” Frank had replied with sarcasm.

Aria could only go red in the face at his words.

What exactly was he implying about her?

“Look! I already apologize for kissing you and just so you know? I haven’t kissed the whole club if that is what you’re implying and even if I did? I don’t think it any of your business so how about you get out of the way so me and my friend can head back to our seat now and forget this ever happened” Aria ended her speech and just push past him before dragging Lizzy along and leaving Frank to stare right back at them.

They both hurried back to their seat and not once did they steal a glance at his direction.

Not even once!

“What was that all about Ari?” Lizzy had asked another minute or two after they were seated.

“That was me listening to you and making a fool out of myself. Satisfied?”

Aria was huffing and puffing at this point as she glared openly at her best friend who was obviously trying her best to show how sorry she was.

“Look Ari, am sorry okay? It’s true i made you do but you have to admit that I didn’t say you should go give your first k**s to your boss”

Aria held up her index finger in objection. “Ex boss not boss! Just in case you have forgotten because I no longer work for him”

“Then you haven’t absolutely nothing to worry about girl. So c’mon let drink to your first k**s shall we?”

Lizzy quickly picked up her half glass of wine and proposed a toast with a mischievous grin on her face even though Aria was far from accepting another glass from her.

“C’mon Ari, just one glass heh?”

“Alright fine but just so you know? That doesn’t even count as a first k**s but let cheers to whatever that was”

Aria little speech got them chuckling hard as they each emptied their glasses in a single go.

**

Even though Frank was seated at the other end of the hall with his friend Kelvin and some group of a guys he came there with.

His eyes was still fixed at Aria’s direction, watching her every move like a predator on his little prey._noticing every single gesture and giggle that erupt through her mouth.

Aria looked so different in that little black dress she had on tonight, not to mention that killer curves she has on full display.

Never ever has he seen her in anything as that before. Not once has she dressed in that manner before and tonight? He found her looking totally stunning and different.

But underneath all that administration, Frank Okoji was beyond enraged. He was furious to replace her in a place such as that and even worst? Getting herself drunk and kissing a total stranger even though that stranger was none than himself.

This was the last place he thought he’d run into her. Aria was too good for places like that.

Not that he was judging her or anything but he expected more from her but to turn around and have her acting childish in a place like that was the least he was expecting.

Was that the life she so threw everything away for? To roam around nightclub kissing strange men.

Great!

Just f*****g great!

Frank was totally pissed and beyond lost in his own thought to listen in his own thought to listen to what his friend could be saying as he continued to watch some drunk a*s dude beside the counter throw weird glance at Aria’s direction who didnt even seemed to notice as she continued to giggle alongside her friend who happens to be just as clueless as herself.

” what’s up bro, you don’t seem to be listening to anything I have been saying so far” his friend Kelvin had called at him after Frank only nodded at him when he asked what he wanted to drink.

“Sorry man! I was just distracted”

“Distracted by what bro? This is your night and we are here to celebrate but it seems your mind is not even here”

Frank knew his friend was right. That night was his and he has no reason to be distracted by anything else. Especially not by Aria and how she chooses to live her life.

She is old enough to make her own choices. He took a deep breath and shook her thought out of his mind before apologizing to Kelvin.

“I’m sorry okay? It won’t happen again”

“Yeah, whatever man!” Kelvin was clearly not buying it. At least not with that wandering look in his eyes.

***

Aria on the other hand was starting to feel sick as her system could no longer hold up much alcohol anymore.

“Hey! Are you okay?” Lizzy had asked with concern.

She hiccup a few times and belch a little.

“I don’t feel so good Liz. I think we need to get going”

“What! Already?_I mean, it’s barely 9, o’clock. The night is still young” Lizzy had whined pouting at Aria who couldn’t help but rolled her eyes at her best friend tactics to get her to stay.

“Well, I don’t know about you but I have clearly had enough tonight and I say we leave before one of us start seeing the milky way”

Lizzy could only wave her off.

“Nonsense! Am perfectly fine plus this is your first time out Ari, who knows when we will be able to hang out like this again hmm? Let just stay a little longer”

Aria gave it a little thought and accepted. “Alright fine! But no more drinks for me because my head is starting to spin”

Lizzy pulled her in for a sloppy hug and yelled over her head. “Yeah whatever, just stay here with me”

Aria gave her friend a little pat on the shoulder before pulling away. Her eyes darted mindlessly towards the direction she had left Frank a while ago but he was no longer there.

Maybe he left?

She thought to herself before her fingers wandered to her lips and caress the spot that was attached to his earlier.

The little sensation buzzing at the bottom of her stomach was only a result of the realization of the fact that she actually locked lips with that man.

Yes she really did.

Never ever in her wildest dreams had she imagined herself to do that with anyone and much less doing with him.

Frank Okoji was a man whore.

Part of the reason she left him was his womanizing lifestyle. She prays with all her heart not to ever run into him again.

But why does his presence bothers her so damn much!!
