Chapter 71

“How is she doctor” Frank had asked in panic.

“They are both safe but she need more rest so I gave her something to enable her sleep”

“What exactly is causing the bleeding doctor. She was fine before it all started”

Frank was restless as he kept pressuring the doctor for answers because he doesn’t know what to think anymore.

He was in a serious state of panic.

“We are still running some series of test to ascertain the cause of it but I can assure you that she and the baby will be alright. She didn’t loose too much b***d. You got her here right on time”

He sigh in relief at the doctor’s word and took in a deep breath to calm his racing heart.

“Please doctor, just make sure she doesn’t loose the baby” Frank had begged.

“She was in a lot of pressure mentally but she is sleeping right now” he assured him with a tap to the shoulder.

Frank hadn’t stopped blaming himself over what had happened to her. Maybe his reaction has caused her so much stress when the doctor had instructed at first that she needed rest.

When he finally went in to see her. He felt a sense of guilt crawling up his chest in a really hurtful way.

Her left arm was connected to a drip as she laid fast asleep. Aria had one hand resting protectively against her stomach with a slight frown grazing her forehead.

Frank lowered himself to seat beside her on the bed as he began to caress her cheeks like his favorite thing to do.

His fingers continued to lingered around her face before she stirred and murmured incoherent words in her sleep.

“I’m so sorry darling. I know this is all my fault. You have to forgive me” he cooed at her with tears swelling in his eyes.

“Of course it’s your fault. You never should have left her here last night”

Frank quickly turned around to stare back at Henry who stood by the door way with both hands tucked into his white lab coat.

“Just like you had no right to take her home when she was still under a lot of stress. How could you be so stupid” Frank had asked through gritted teeth.

“You are the stupid one if you think she’d stay here after you walked out on her like you did yesterday”

Frank was irritated by his comment as he covered the distance to where he stood like a judge.

“And who are you to judge me huh? Why can’t you just mind your business and leave us alone” he accused, feeling really agitated by his presence.

Henry gave a light chuckle at his outburst.

“You think this is funny?…look at her and tell me what you see. She is hurting because of you”

“Because of me? Are you sure you are not responsible for her pain?” Henry had asked with a raised brow.

Frank was about to reply when he heard Aria g***n in her sleep and paused.

“Get out” he said instead before turning around to walk towards where she laid.

It’s been three days since Aria got admitted at the hospital and Frank hasn’t left her side unless it was absolutely necessary. The doctor had made sure everything was perfectly fine with her before signing her discharged papers and enabling her to return home that evening.

Frank had made sure to avoid any topic that is likely to offend her as he rather watch her recover fully than cause her more stress.

After placing all their belongings into the backseat, he helped her into the passenger seat. Frank made sure she is safely strapped into her seat before jogging around to join her.

He proceeded to strapping himself to his seat as well before turning to look at her. Aria seemed to be fidgeting with her seatbelt.

“Are you comfortable dear or it’s too tight?” Frank had asked, looking at her with concern.

She gave a small nod.

“I’m okay”

“Let go home then” squeezing at her hand for a bit.

“Okay”

They drove a few distance with Aria looking out the window while Frank sang along with the FM.

He seemed happy and very relaxed.

Frank made a U-turn up ahead causing Aria to stare back at him with a confused expression.

“Where are you taking me?”

Frank only shot her a lopsided smile.

“Home! Where else?”

“This is not the way to my house” Aria had objected with a frown.

“But it’s the way to mine so you are coming home with me”

Aria was about to protest before Frank quickly interjected. “I know what you are about to say but can we talk about it at home instead?_please?”

Aria could only swallow back her objections as she stare intently at him for a moment before giving a single nod. “Okay”.

They both arrived at his house some minutes later. Everything was just as she remembered it but maybe a little too quiet as she stood waiting for him to retrieve her bag before walking towards her with a warm smile.

Frank was eluding a different aura of happiness and Aria couldn’t help but notice every bit of it as she replied with a smile of her own.

He strode over to where she stood and pulled her close to his side. His hand resting against her lower back ” shall we?”

Aria gave a curt nod before they both began to walk inside. The door came apart revealing her whole family and some familiar faces as everyone present were all smiles and rushing to meet her.

Aria was startled at the sight before her. Her head turned swiftly to stare back at Frank who had a mischievous smile of his own.

She was left with little or no time to process anything before she was trapped in between mass of flesh from all possible angle.

“Surprise!!” Everyone chorus at once. Still very much enveloped in a warm hug by her mom then followed by her two brothers, Mark and Harry.
