Chapter 477 Let The Torment Begin

Cedrick looked up and shot him an icy-cold glare before tossing a mission list at him.

Craig simply stood there and let the piece of paper hit his abdomen before sliding to the floor.

"Take a look at this," Cedrick said.

Feeling confused, Craig picked up the mission list and read through it in detail.

"This is a list of missions that I went on over the past three months. What is the meaning of this, Mr. Jenson?"

Cedrick put the cigarette down on the desk before asking sternly, "Your attendance this month was half of the last two months. Don't you think you owe me an explanation?"

Craig knew that the man was deliberately trying to pick a fight with him, so he had no choice but to suppress his anger as he explained, "Jennifer was sick, so I went back home a lot to look after her." "Excuses!" Cedrick yelled sternly while picking up an ashtray from the desk and hurling it at Craig's head.

Craig instinctively moved his head aside to dodge the incoming ashtray, which grazed his earlobe before falling onto the rug on the floor.

There was a loud thud upon impact, but the ashtray did not break.

"Hmm?"

Cedrick knitted his eyebrows in displeasure from behind the desk, as the depths of his eyes emitted a bone-chilling coldness, serving as an ominous warning sign that he was about to lose his temper. Craig stared at the metallic sign on the desk with the word "Director" on it.

After taking a few seconds to suppress his anger, he picked up the ashtray and smashed himself in the head with it.

His forehead was instantly swollen from the impact, but there was no bleeding as it did not break the skin.

Cedrick was having a great time watching him suffer, his tormenting certainly did not stop at that. "Jennifer only returned to the Newton residence a week ago, and she was only there for about six to seven days. Your mission count, however, decreased in half. It's obvious that you're simply using her as an excuse for your laziness at work! How dare you try to brush me off with such a sh*tty excuse, Craig?" Those words had barely left Cedrick's mouth when he picked up a coffee cup and hurled it at Craig's head. This time, Craig resisted the urge to dodge and took the blow head-on

The coffee cup happened to hit him on the previous wound, causing his skin to break and bleed a little.

"Please investigate this matter thoroughly, Mr. Jenson. I would never dare do such a thing," Craig replied respectfully while enduring the intense pain on his forehead.

"Well, you and I both know the truth about that."

Cedrick was infamous for his brutality and ruthlessness, but he had toned it down a iot over the past year because of Gwendolyn.

This time, however, it was Gwendolyn who wanted him to teach Craig a lesson.

As Cedrick had long since wanted to punish Craig for being a manipulative bully who preyed on the weak, he was more than happy to oblige.

"I am punishing you for your laziness at work and attempting to justify your misconduct with excuses. Do you acknowledge?" Cedrick asked while fidgeting with the watch on his wrist, his tone laced with spine- chilling iciness.

Craig clenched his fists behind his back so tightly that the veins in his arms bulged underneath the skin.

However, Cedrick did outrank him, so there was nothing he could do except comply. "Yes, I acknowledge and accept any punishment."

Cedrick shot him a sly look as he said, "Of course, you will be punished accordingly. Since I have a lot of free time during the afternoon, I will personally discipline my deputy director."

A wave of unease washed over Craig as he caught a glimpse of Cedrick's eyes, keenly sensing the imminent danger radiating from him.

The latter adjusted the collar of his military uniform as he slowly rose to his feet and made his way around the desk, striding toward Craig.

He was slightly taller than Craig and exuded a powerful aura that matched the nature of his role.

"Take off your jacket," Cedrick ordered.

Craig stared at him for a few seconds in confusion but did as told anyway. He then took off his military jacket, folded it neatly, and placed it on the couch before returning to his original position. Cedrick flashed him a sly grin as he said, "For starters, let's see if you're still in good physical condition. I want you to do four hundred pushups without stopping."

"Yes, sir."

Craig was in peak physical condition due to the hardcore training he had been through, so doing four hundred pushups in one go wasn't too challenging of a task.

He then propped himself up with his muscular arms and performed the pushups with perfect form while Cedrick watched on.

Craig's occasional panting was the only sound that filled the office.

After counting about a hundred pushups, Cedrick asked, "How many have

you done?"

There was some sweat on Craig's forehead as he replied effortlessly, "One hundred and seven."

Cedrick let out a snicker. "Oh? Why didn't you count them out loud, then?"

Craig looked up at him in confusion. Huh? He never said I had to count them out, though.

However, Cedrick simply stared down at him with an authoritative look in his eyes, leaving the man with no choice but to do as he was told. "One hundred and eight," he counted while continuing his pushups. "You stopped just now, so you have to start over."

Craig felt speechless when he heard that.

Making things difficult for me right from the get-go, huh? Looks like I'm in for a really rough time...

With that in mind, he forcefully suppressed his anger and started counting from one.

Cedrick continued staring at him for a little while longer before returning to his desk and pouring himself

of coffee. He then casually sipped on his coffee while listening to Craig's counting, which sounded increasingly exhausted as time went by.

The temperature in the office was just right at the time.

Cedrick switched on the heater and cranked the temperature up to thirty degrees Celsius.

After that, he took off his military jacket, wearing a thin white shirt underneath. With the sleeves rolled up, it revealed his pale and muscular lower arm.

Furthermore, he went as far as to add two ice cubes to his coffee to help cool him off even further.

"T-Three hundred and forty-five..."

Craig was drenched in sweat from head to toe as he struggled to continue the count. The sweat dripping down from his nose and chin had formed a tiny puddle on the floor.

Not only had the office gotten hotter, but he still had to continue counting each pushup.

The excessive sweating and counting left Craig dehydrated and thirsty, and his sweaty palms were starting to slip a little on the floor.

Apart from having to concentrate on counting, he also had to stabilize his arms to prevent himself from collapsing. Those factors combined helped make his punishment even more torturous.

As if that wasn't bad enough, the salt in his sweat was irritating the wound on his forehead. The intense pain made him a little dizzy, but he had to continue with the pushups regardless.

I will remember this, Cedrick! Someday, I will be sure to make you pay for this!

"F-Four hundred..." Craig muttered weakly, a sense of relief washing over him. He then got back on his feet steadily and stood with his arms behind his back.

Cedrick placed the coffee cup down on the desk and eyed Craig from head to toe as he said with a sarcastic smile, "Look at you, sweating all over and panting heavily from just a few hundred pushups. Looks like your physical condition could use some improvement!"

Craig was trying really hard to control his breathing. His dress shirt, which was all drenched in sweat, stuck to his body like a second skin. It felt extremely uncomfortable, but he was not about to ask Cedrick fo permission to take a shower.

After all, Cedrick would never approve of such a request. In fact, he might even mock Craig for it.

It wasn't until Craig felt a blast of hot air on his face that he looked up and saw that Cedrick had turned on

the heater.

He clenched his fists behind his back once again as beads of sweat continued to trickle down his chin.

"I can't allow someone in such poor physical condition to be a deputy director, can I?" Cedrick continued
