Wooing My ex-wife (Gwendolyn and Maverick) -
Chapter 645
Chapter 645 Cedrick Made His Son Cry
Cedrick and Nico's cars were all black, Gwendolyn owned two green cars and a white car, and everyone else's cars were either red, white, or black in color.
The car next to them, however, was a sky-blue Rolls-Royce.
Given how bright that color was, it would be impossible to not notice it.
It looked just as quirky as Gwendolyn's green Maserati,
Gwendolyn couldn't help but think of the owner of the car when she saw its color.
The car sure matches the owner...
Cedrick wrapped his arm around her waist from behind as he followed her gaze and noticed something off about the car as well. "This car doesn't look like it belongs to the Jenson family."
"Yeah, it's Charles'. We didn't tell him that we'd be returning to Chanaca today. He probably came over to visit the babies," Gwendolyn replied.
Cedrick shot her a strange look and asked, "How do you remember his license plate so well, Gwenny?"
Gwendolyn paused for a second before giving him a light smack on the head. "What are you thinking? There's no way I'd remember his license plate! I only made a guess based on the car's color!"
Cedrick held her hand and picked up the suitcase before leading her into Harrick Villa.
Sure enough, Charles was indeed playing with Zendaya in the nursery on the fourth floor.
"Look, Zendy! Your parents are finally back from their fun little trip! Aren't you glad that they still remember you two? I'm surprised they didn't leave you two in my care!" Charles said half-jokingly when he saw Cedrick and Gwendolyn enter the room.
Because Charles was keeping Zendaya company, Cedrick and Gwendolyn made their way toward Benedict and sat down beside him instead.
"It's good to see that you two are finally back, Mr. and Mrs. Jenson! I'll go prepare a bottle of milk downstairs," Zoey said while leaving the nursery.
Charles shifted his gaze toward Gwendolyn the moment Zoey stepped out the door. "You're glowing. Gwen. Your trip must have gone really smoothly, huh?"
"It did. I feel kind of bad for you and Nico, though."
Charles let out a casual chuckle. "I'm Benny and Zendy's godfather, so I have a duty to look after them while you two are away. There's no need to feel bad for me." As Gwendolyn had known him for over twenty years, she paid no heed to his response and continued playing with Benedict.
Benedict, who was sitting inside the blue crib, didn't seem all that interested in the toy she was holding, though.
Fortunately, Cedrick was sharp and noticed that Benedict wasn't feeling well. "There's something off about Benny. It looks like he has recently fallen sick or something."
Charles stopped shaking the rattle he was holding and explained, "Not exactly. I had the pediatrics from the Jenson family's medical corps take a look at him, and they haven't found anything wrong with him. I'm not sure if it is due to the weather or his immune system, but Benny's appetite hasn't been as good as Zendy's lately."
The stern look on Cedrick's face intensified as he continued to pat Benedict on the cheek.
A few seconds later, the patting turned into a hard squeeze, and Benedict burst out crying from the pain.
Despite how weak he seemed, his crying sounded fairly loud and energetic.
Gwendolyn's heart ached when she saw Benedict crying like this. "There, there... Stop crying, Benny. Your daddy shouldn't have squeezed your cheek so hard. Your cheek is all red now! Don't worry: I'll punish him for you in a bit!"
Cedrick glanced at his hand and said with a faint smile, "I didn't pinch him all that hard, though. I didn't think his cheek would be so soft and sensitive!" "Benedict's still a baby, so it's only natural for him to have sensitive skin! You should've let me handle him instead!" Gwendolyn snapped back at him.
"Yes, you're right, Gwenny. I'll be sure to let you handle him next time," Cedrick replied affectionately.
Charles simply watched on from the side as the two of them chatted away.
Although it sounded like they were arguing, their eyes were filled with love and affection. The atmosphere was so harmonious that he couldn't bring himself to interrupt them at all.
In fact, he was even starting to feel like a third wheel there.
Charles did his best to hide the disappointment in his eyes as he continued playing with Zendaya. He waited until Cedrick and Gwendolyn were done talking before saying, "If you're that worried, Mr. Jenson, you could take Benny to the largest pediatric hospital in Salinsburgh for a full physical examination. Wouldn't want you accusing me of neglecting his well-being if anything were to go wrong later on." "That won't be necessary. Benny is too young for a full physical examination. Cedrick was just testing Benny out of habit. It's not that he doesn't trust you or anything," Gwendolyn explained. One would not seek help from a person one did not trust. Cedrick and Gwendolyn chose to have Charles help look after the kids because they trusted him.
"By the way, Cedrick and I will only be spending one night at Harrick Villa. We've booked another flight and will be heading over to Fairlake tomorrow. We're probably going to be gone for two days, so we'll need to trouble you with looking after the kids again."
"No problem. I'm just doing my job," Charles replied in a gentlemanly manner.
The next day, Kieran and Inez took the early morning flight to Fairlake so they could meet up with the Mossey family in advance and prepare for the meeting.
Gwendolyn and Cedrick, on the other hand, took the afternoon flight.
"Kieran's finally getting married, Treyton's relationship with Jennifer seems to be going steady, and Nico is getting engaged with Summer as well. I'm glad everyone around us is getting married!" Gwendolyn exclaimed while staring at the clouds outside the window.
Cedrick wrapped an arm tightly around her waist and leaned in to sniff at her neck. "Life seems to be getting better and better for us all. So, when will we have our wedding, Gwenny?"
A relationship just doesn't feel complete without a grand wedding ceremony!
"Didn't we agree to wait till Benny and Zendy are old enough to be our flower girl and ringbearer?" Gwendolyn asked.
Cedrick gave it some thought and figured the results would be worth the wait.
A few hours later, the plane landed safely at the airport in Fairlake.
After replaceing out that the country's wealthiest couple would be coming over together, the Mossey family took the initiative to make a reservation at Fairlake's most luxurious hotel.
All Cedrick and Gwendolyn had to do after leaving the airport was head straight to the hotel.
Madelyn was exceptionally friendly toward Gwendolyn and maintained a smile on her face the entire
time.
The two families spent the entire afternoon discussing the marriage arrangements. Gwendolyn was incredibly generous and gifted Inez two percent of Harris Group's shares.
Ar around nine in the evening, the two families were finally done with their discussion and decided to have the wedding a month later.
Madelyn had been planning on having Gwendolyn and Cedrick stay the night at the Mossey residence but didn't dare bring it up again when Gwendolyn turned her invitation down the first time.
The atmosphere between the two families was incredibly harmonious as they stepped out of the hotel's private room and walked alongside each other.
While making their way around a corner, a woman in high heels ran past them and bumped Gwendolyn on the shoulder.
"Hey! Watch where you're..." the woman exclaimed like a spoilt brat, only to stop herself mid-sentence when she looked up and recognized Gwendolyn. "Wait a minute... I'm not hallucinating, am I? I can't believe you're back in Fairlake, Gwendolyn!" she shouted while grabbing Gwendolyn by the arm.
