Wooing My ex-wife (Gwendolyn and Maverick)
Chapter 805 A Love Struck Fool

That probably won't happen so long as Gwenny doesn't leave the lab.

Seeing the gradual change in Cedrick's expression, Joe added, "Don't waste your energy. Do you really think the lab's security is flawless? I'll be honest with you. I planted a mole in the lab a long time ago. All the lab equipment is completely under my control now, including your wife and child. Do you still dare to kill me?"

Joe burst into a maniacal laugh while Cedrick stayed silent and continued making the phone calls.

Despite making numerous calls to Gwendolyn, they all went unanswered. If Gwenny and the two kids are indeed in his hands...

He put away his phone, pointed his gun, and questioned, "What do you want?"

"Let go of my men and follow me."

Just then, Swain braved the rain and ran over with a group of men after dealing with the situation at the cottage.

Hearing Joe's words, Swain quickly intervened, "Boss, you can't do that!"

Joe is an incredibly cunning man. He's crazy. Who knows what tricks he has up his sleeve?

However, Joe didn't mind at all. He lifted his lips into a smirk and said, "Cedrick, you decide for yourself whether the lives of your wife and child' are more important or your life is more important. I'll only give you a minute to think about it."

He held on to the trump card. He was clearly in a pathetic state, yet he acted as if his strategy was going well under his control.

After a considerable pause, Cedrick finally put away his gun with a solemn face. He then turned to Swain and instructed, "Ensure Megan's safety. Release his people, and you guys stay put in the mountains." Swain was shocked. "Boss!"

"Just do as I say," Cedrick grimly snapped.

His dark orbs had an unfathomable glint, and he was exuding an icy aura, leaving Swain unable to comprehend what he was trying to do.

Obedience to orders was the foremost rule. Hence, Swain had no choice but to release the people he captured.

After Joe's man helped him up, he made another request. "Prepare a car for me. Your men aren't allowed to follow."

"Give him a car."

While Swain was reluctant, he dared not defy Cedrick's orders. All he could do was watch Cedrick's hands. being bound on his back by Joe's men and taken away on the rainy night.. The technical sped through the swampy track, causing muddy water to splash everywhere.

Swain couldn't help but stomp his feet in frustration.

Has something gotten into Boss today?

Watching Joe's vehicle sped away and eventually disappear within his sight, Swain could only call Nico immediately.

Meanwhile, Joe grabbed the basic medical kit in the technical and got his men to treat the wound on his thigh.

Cedrick sat opposite him in silence. The atmosphere was so dead quiet that it felt a little terrifying. Even though his hands were tied, he still posed a significant threat to everyone in the vehicle.

The mere sight of the Cedrick's perpetual calm-looking face p*ssed Joe off greatly. He grabbed the former's collar and, in a frosty tone, fumed, "Cedrick, do you know how much I hate you? If it weren't for you, Eryn wouldn't have died. Why do you get to live a happy life while I have to hide and live in darkness every day? And I won't get to see Eryn ever again. It's all because of you!"

Cedrick stared at him coldly without uttering a word.

He knew Joe was not in the state to listen to anything, so he had no intention of defending himself either.

Seeing his lack of reaction, Joe grew even more furious, "Cedrick, I will make you suffer a thousand times more than the pain I've gone through! I want to take you to Eryn's grave to repent!" Cedrick knew Joe would not harm him. However, it was beyond his expectation that the latter had done so much just so that he could take him to Eryn's grave.

The rain gradually ceased, and the technical eventually came to a halt.

Joe limped his way into the cemetery and halted in his steps before a tombstone without a name..

He took out some tissue and carefully wiped away the raindrops on the tombstone. It seemed like a habitual action of his.

The graveyard where Eryn was laid to rest was meticulously maintained. There was not a single weed in sight.

Before the grave laid a bouquet of white roses.

Despite being drenched in rain, the flowers still looked full and vibrant. It was clear it was a bouquet of fresh blooms from the past few days.

Watching by the side, Cedrick shook his head and laughed. "It seems like she has been on your mind all these years."

Despite being forced to his wit's end by the Federal Bureau of Investigation to the point he can't appear in public, he still secretly cleans her grave and buys her flowers. He's a love-struck fool beyond redemption, for sure.

"Because of a woman like her, you ruined your future and life. Is that worth it?"

Joe paused in his cleaning action and responded expressionlessly. "Aren't you the same? I heard you're madly in love with your wife, so much so that you're willing to risk your life for her. Your status is much more unique than mine. Doesn't that make you even more foolish?"

Cedrick's face turned cold. "Gwendolyn isn't the same as Eryn," he enunciated.

"What isn't the same?" Joe roared in agitation. "Just because you love Gwendolyn, you go all out at cherishing her. Your heart would break even if she merely bleeds a drop. But you have no love for Eryn. That's why you trampled on her feelings for you and caused her death!"

Cedrick looked into Joe's eyes in silence.

Furious, the latter snarled, "Cedrick! I want you to kneel down and apologize to Eryn! Are you going to do it?"

Hah.

Cedrick harrumphed lightly and unhurriedly revealed the truth of what happened back then.

"Previously, I didn't tell you the truth because I was worried it'd break your heart. It was also beyond my imagination that you would sacrifice yourself in the subsequent missions. Regarding Eryn's matter, I have been hiding it all these years. But I guess there's no need to hide anymore..."

It turned out that the Eryn that Joe talked about was a girl who got abducted into the borderland. The two men saved her during a chance encounter while carrying out a mission.

Eryn was an orphan who had nowhere to go after being rescued. The borderlands were harsh, teeming with snakes and insects. As such, she kept following them.

She was five years younger than the two men and was lively and adorable. Joe, who had stayed single all his life, soon fell for that bright and cheerful girl.

Nonetheless, at that time, Eryn was not interested in Joe. Instead, she often flirted with Cedrick and even tried to seduce him. The worst thing was that she would always make sure Joe was present.

While she was showing favor to Cedrick, she did not turn down Joe's affection toward her. Her behavior left Joe conflicted about what exactly was in her mind.

Later, after she confessed to Cedrick and got rejected, she went to look for Joe and began badmouthing Cedrick and complaining about his indifference toward her.

Eventually, Joe started forming opinions about Cedrick, and their relationship gradually grew distant because of Eryn.

Just as the two men were on the verge of becoming total strangers, Eryn agreed to Joe's courtship and became lovers.

The two were preparing for their first official date, but at that point, Cedrick discovered that Eryn was actually a spy sent over by a drug lord.

All the information about her turned out to be a lie.

She was a spy and a mole. Her stay in the Federal Bureau of Investigation was so that she could get information and pass it to the drug lord to safeguard their underground dealings.

After discovering Eryn's identity, Cedrick did not reveal it to Joe for fear that he could not handle the truth. He planned to apprehend Eryn first.

Unfortunately, the drug lord received news rather quickly. At the same time as when Cedrick found out about Eryn's identity, the drug lord had already sent someone to kill her.

For drug gangs like theirs, the deaths of a few members meant nothing of importance. What truly
