You Complete Me novel (Skylar and Coralie) -
Chapter 124
Valerie didn't expect for Grandmother Holland to refuse her other gifts, and so she was embarrassed by it. She put the box on the tea table and said coyly, "Grandma, I've already brought the gifts here. Do you still want me to take them back?"
Lillian, who was watching from the side, added, "Yes, Mom, it's Valerie's good intention."
"Yes, I chose them personally, but if Grandma doesn't like them, I will choose a few better ones next time."
Valerie deliberately said so. Behind her seemingly kind words were an invisible pressure for Grandmother Holland to accept her gift. After all, Valerie had brought them there, so there was no reason to take them back.
Grandmother Holland had no choice but to nod. "Then just leave them here. You don't have to buy anything when you come to see me in the future."
After all, Grandmother Holland was not short of money. Moreover, deep down her heart, she did not like Valerie.
Although Valerie always did things in a considerate way, Grandmother Holland always had a feeling that Valerie was always pretending.
"Valerie, I came here today to tell Mom that Coralie is pregnant."
Lillian was so big-mouthed that she couldn't hide anything.
Previously, Valerie had told Lillian about Coralie's pregnancy and cautioned her not to tell anyone. However, Lillian went to Golden Town the very next day and asked Coralie to take care of her pregnancy/
It was the same this time.
"Auntie, it's too early for you to say that. Skye may be planning to announce the news only after the first trimester."
After all, the first trimester wasn't a stable period. Most people only announced pregnancies after that.
"We can hire the best doctor, how can it be possible that we can't even protect a child?"
Lillian was full of confidence.
Hearing her words, Valerie took the opportunity to say, "Alas, it's hard to say. People living in the city nowadays are under great pressure. I heard that there's a small church in the south of A City that's famous for blessing pregnant women."
"Is that so?"
Hearing this, Lillian's eyes lit up.
She came from a rural place, so she was quite superstitious.
However, Grandmother Holland did not take it seriously. "These things are predestined."
"In fact, Grandma is right. However, since it's Skylar's child, I hope that the child can be delivered safely. I've decided to go to the church this weekend to ask for some blessings for him." Valerie looked as if she was full of confidence.
Lillian, who was watching from the side, was moved. She grabbed Valerie's hand and said, "Oh, you so thoughtful, Valerie. However, could this be done on behalf of someone else? I think they should go themselves. I'll ask Skylar to bring Coralie along this weekend."
How could Lillian let someone else receive blessings on behalf of her grandchild?!
In fact, Lillian's words were exactly what Valerie was planning to fish. She went along with her words, "I think it's better for me to go. The church is located in the mountains. A pregnant woman shouldn't tire herself too much. What if she suffers a miscarriage..."
"That's true..." Lillian didn't care about Coralie, but the child in her belly was Lillian's main concern. Since Valerie mentioned it, Lillian wanted Coralie to go to the church herself. She simply said, "Why don't we go three months later? Anyway, it will be soon."
Valerie thought for a moment and said, "That's fine, Auntie. Please let me know when you're going, I would like to contribute to the effort."
Lillian nodded repeatedly.
During the weekend, when Coralie and Skylar were shopping for baby products, Lillian called and told Skylar about the plans to visit the church in the month of May.
Originally, Skylar did not believe in this, but Lillian insisted. Skylar had no choice but to agree to it.
After hanging up the phone, Skylar told Coralie what had happened.
Coralie agreed, "Let's just go for a peace of mind. Besides, it's rare enough that your mother isn't opposed to my pregnancy, just let it be."
Coralie thought that as long as the relationship within the family could be peaceful, she didn't need to ask for more. "Okay."
Skylar nodded.
They went to the baby supplies area in the largest shopping mall in A City. They wanted to buy some things for their child.
Because it was the first time for them to visit a place like this, they were both curious.
From baby beds to rattles, milk bottles, and many other things, as long as they were cute, Skylar would buy them.
"This pram is too expensive, it's more than 8,000 dollars!"
On the whole floor, there was one store that sold prams specifically. The prams that were sold here had a princess feel to it. The pale pink gauze could be hung down and it had large wheels. However, the baby could only lie flat in it.
According to Coralie's research, the kind of pram could only be used for a baby up to six months.
"Madam, we are the Royal brand of E Country. Even the Royal family of E Country uses our prams. Let me show you some photos."
As the store assistant said, she took out a photo album, which was full of pictures of the princess pushing the baby pram with her child in it.
"Let's buy it. It can be used for six months!"
Skylar wanted to buy it not because the pram was used by the royal family. As he skimmed around, he noticed that this pram was indeed different from the others. It looked beautiful at first glance and was several grades higher than the others.
In the end, Coralie couldn't argue with him.
When they were planning to go home, they asked the shopping mall employees to deliver their purchase back to Golden Town.
Besides buying baby products, Skylar and Coralie were also preparing for the baby's room and bought a bunch of soft toys for the room. They did all of these in the week when Coralie was aware of her pregnancy.
However, Skylar and Coralie were full of expectations in their hearts, hoping for this little life to come to this world.
In May, Coralie had been pregnant for three months, Lillian chose a good day from the almanac and went up to the church on the mountain to worship God with Coralie and Skylar. When they were about to leave, Valerie appeared at the door in a casual outfit with a backpack on her back.
Seeing her making an appearance, Skylar and Coralie looked at each other.
Skylar said first, "Valerie, we are going up the mountains. You should go home."
However, Valerie did not agree. She said mischievously, "I know that you're going to visit the church to get blessings. I'm also going to ask for blessings to get a good boyfriend."
If Valerie used another excuse, Skylar would have refused for her to come along.
But this was such a harmless excuse that he had to let her get on the car.
However, Valerie was also smart and perceptive. She left the passenger seat for Coralie and settled at the back seat herself.
When the car started, Valerie took out a new mobile phone and sent a message. After a while, she took out another mobile phone and did the same thing.
Lillian sat next to her and asked curiously, "Valerie, why do you use so many mobile phones?"
"I'm used to separating private and business matters using two phones."
Valerie replied with a natural expression, but she stealthily put the new mobile phone into her bag and did not take it out the whole time in the car.
