On the first day that Coralie Chariott went to work from her new home, Valerie Rae had just returned to work. Coralie saw her in the canteen.

She was with Skylar Holland. She had her prosthetic leg on, so visually speaking, it was hard to tell that she was disabled.

Valerie and Skylar sat at the same table in the canteen. They talked and laughed while eating. When Coralie saw them, the heart which she had tried to calm so painstakingly began to thrash violently again. Felicia York watched as Valerie and Skylar bantered with each other. She couldn't help but ask Coralie, "Didn't you say that Assistant Rae lost a leg... This is..."

"Yes, she did. That's a prosthesis."

Coralie explained to her. There was no doubt about that.

She turned her head away and tried to avert her gaze.

Felicia looked at the two people who were acting so intimately with each other and realized that Coralie was silent throughout. She thought something was odd, "Did you quarrel with President Holland?" Coralie shook her head, "No, we broke up."

She uttered the four words nonchalantly.

"Broke up? No way! President Holland is such a good man."

Although Felicia didn't know much, she did notice that Skylar had hired someone to take over Coralie's work when she was recovering in the hospital. This is so that she wouldn't have too much to do once she came back to work. In Felicia's view, this action was undeniably stemmed from love and concern.

Furthermore, taking into consideration all the things that they had weathered together tenaciously before, how could they break up suddenly?

"Yes."

As she spoke, Coralie did not look up because she was facing Skylar. She was afraid that she would not be able to control herself. if she were to raise her chin and witness their intimacy, Seeing that Coralie didn't want to say more, Felicia kept quiet.

Coralie had originally thought that she would only meet Valerie and Skylar in the canteen. However, when she was about to get off work, Joanna Thomas handed a document to Coralie, "Take this to my sister."

"Your sister?"

Coralie frowned.

Lorraine Thomas was her sister, and she was working on the top floor. If she had to pass it to Lorraine, not only would she meet Valerie, but she would probably bump into Skylar too...

"Yes, hurry up. Otherwise, my sister will leave once it's time to get off work."

Joanna was the only one who lived by those rules. She was unwilling to stay behind for even one extra minute after work, so she tossed it to Coralie instead.

Coralie had no choice but to trudge to the top floor.

She prayed that both Valerie and Skylar had left.

However, most of the time, things just would not go the way one wished.

As she stepped out of the elevator on the top floor, Coralie saw Valerie holding on to Skylar and waltzing sweetly toward the president's elevator.

The three of them came very close to each other.

Coralie immediately stopped and lowered her head. She wanted to wait for the two of them to get into the elevator before she left. After all, Skylar was her superior. She should wait for him to leave first. However, when they crossed paths, both of them stopped in front of Coralie.

Valerie looked at her and smiled, "Miss Chariott, it's been such a long time."

"Indeed."

Coralie did not look at them. She only prayed that they would vanish from her sight as soon as possible.

"Skylar, Miss Coralie doesn't seem happy to see us together. I understand her feeling. Let's go."

Valerie said softly, her voice infused with a vague boastfulness.

"Okay."

Skylar said.

His voice was still deep and attractive. Coralie would never get tired of it for the rest of her life, but unfortunately, she had been stripped of her chance to hear it.

Coralie stood there and breathed a sigh of relief when she saw the two of them disappearing into the elevator.

However, at the moment when the elevator doors were about to close, Valerie suddenly said, "Skylar, when are you free? Let's visit the venue for our engagement ceremony together."

Her voice was appropriately calibrated for Coralie to hear it clearly.

Coralie's heart seemed to be pinched hard. She staggered and almost lost her balance.

However, at that moment, she had her own obligation to fulfill. She passed the document to Lorraine, who was working overtime.

She placed the document on her table and was about to leave. Lorraine sneered behind her, "Coralie, I used to think that you were a highly capable person since you managed to steal President Holland away. But recently, I saw how average you are in front of Valerie."

These days, the more Lorraine worked with Valerie, the more she realized how Valerie was much more capable than Coralie. She thought that Coralie was incomparable to Valerie.

When Coralie heard her words, she nodded subconsciously, "Average? Assistant Thomas, you really think highly of me huh?"

After that, she stumbled her way into the elevator.

When she returned to the office, everyone had all left work. Coralie sat in her own seat alone, drifting in a daze.

Valerie's words echoed in her head.

She tried her best to comfort herself, "Skylar and I are not from the same world. They are a couple, to begin with."

Even so, Coralie's heart was still sore, and she couldn't seem to ease it no matter how hard she tried.

Coralie stayed in the office for a long time before she sauntered downstairs with her bag.

As soon as she reached downstairs, she saw a man in a white coat standing at the door of the company, playing with his car keys. The man looked graceful and sophisticated. Just by standing there, he had attracted the attention of the passers-by around him.

Coralie recognized him at a glance. It was Franklin Moore.

When she saw Franklin, her instinct told her to stay away from this man. She didn't want Skylar to misunderstand any more than this, so she wanted to turn back.

However, Franklin had already caught glimpse of her. He ran over and grabbed her bag, "Coralie, why are you running away?"

Coralie thought about it and thought his question made sense.

Why was she running away?

She had officially ended things between her and Skylar. Now that Skylar was about to get engaged to Valerie, what was she worried about?

"It's nothing," Coralie turned back and asked him, "Are you looking for me? What's the matter?"

Franklin knew that since Skylar had gotten together with Valerie, so Coralie must have been eliminated from the game.

He looked at Coralie, who hung a sad and defeated look on her face. He understood that she must be going through a bad time. He said gently, "Of course I have something to ask from you. I want to treat you to a meal. I wonder if you would grant me the privilege to, Miss Chariott?"

"No."

Coralie replied with a single word and walked past him, wanting to leave.

Franklin grabbed her bag again and said, "Why are you running away again? President Holland is going to get engaged to Valerie. Do you know that?"

"Yes."

Coralie was silent for a while, but she still answered it.

"Well, if I were to invite you to be my date for their engagement ceremony, will you come?"

"No, I want nothing to do with your whole family anymore."

Coralie answered without hesitation.

Why should she even attend their engagement ceremony?

When Franklin saw how determined Coralie was, he had no choice but to reveal his trump card, "Don't reject me so quickly. I have a secret. Do you want to know about the driver who was involved in the accident?"
