"Skylar, I'm sorry. I wasn't sensible last time. I have already gotten an earful from my sister."

Wayne Chariott immediately apologized as soon as he entered the ward and saw Skylar Holland lying on the bed.

"It's okay."

Skylar thought that it was better for him to get injured instead of having to face the extreme result that Howard Schultz could have caused otherwise.

Although Valerie was silent on the side, she could already guess who Wayne was.

"Skylar, I'm truly sorry. If I hadn't been locked in the house, I wouldn't have let that jerk hurt my sister."

Wayne felt guilty because he had to depend on Skylar to save his sister even though he was a young man himself.

"It's really okay. How's your sister doing recently?"

Valerie Rae left the room when she realized that they were talking about Coralie.

She left not because she didn't want to disturb them, but because she felt that Wayne looked very familiar...

She seemed to have seen him on her Facebook posts before.

Valerie sat in the corridor and began to scroll through her Facebook profile. She found a photo that was posted one month ago.

It was Jamie George, Skylar's cousin, who posted it.

Jamie and Wayne were in their sportswear, sitting next to each other at a basketball court. They looked very close to each other with Jamie putting a sweet smile on her face.

At first glance, she could see that the relationship between these two was not ordinary.

The George family treated their business as their top priority, just like Anthony Holland. Of course, it would be impossible for Jamie to marry an ordinary person. Wayne came out of the ward not long after.

Valerie stopped him and asked, "Hello, are you a student from A University?"

Wayne had never seen Valerie before. He didn't expect her to ask him questions, so he answered casually, "Yes. Why do you ask?"

"Nothing," Valerie waved her hand.

Wayne then left without thinking too much.

Valerie went back into the ward to accompany Skylar for a while before leaving to look for Jamie's mother.

Jamie's mother, Queenie, was also part of the Holland family. As she did not have a job, she and Lillian would spend their time playing poker with each other.

Valerie drove to the place where they had often played poker and waited by the entrance. Queenie came out from the building not long after.

"Auntie Holland."

Valerie got out of the car and waved to Queenie.

Queenie and Valerie were not close at all. They could be considered distant acquaintances.

However, she had met Valerie twice in the past since the latter had a close relationship with Skylar.

"Valerie?"

Queenie looked at Valerie with some confusion. She stood there and she had no intention of getting into the car.

"Auntie Holland, would you like to have a cup of coffee with me?

Valerie intended to get on her good books so that they could go against the Chariott family together. She thought it was hard for her to defeat Coralie by herself since Lillian was dumb and her words didn't count at home.

"If you have something to say, just say it. I have to go home and have dinner with my child."

Queenie was different from Lillian. Although she did not have a job, she was a smart person. A look at Valerie was all it took for her to know that she would ask for her help.

"Auntie Holland, I have some news about Jamie."

"Why are you so concerned about Jamie all of a sudden?"

Although Queenie didn't know what Valerie was going to do, she knew better than to get involved with her.

After all, the Rae family was famous for their craftiness and calculative nature. Befriending them would only spell trouble.

"Yes, yes, it's just that she has gotten into a relationship recently and I happen to know the boy."

Valerie realized that Queenie was not going to take the bait. Thus, she had to cut to the chase. Queenie's face darkened immediately, "What did you say?"

Although she was reluctant, Queenie eventually opened the door and got into Valerie's car.

Valerie drove the car to the nearest cafe. She was not in a hurry to spill the secret. Instead, she wanted to have a cup of coffee with Queenie. However, the latter did not seem to share the sentiments. She remained seated without the intention of getting out of the car, "If you have something to say, just say it here. My car is just behind you and I don't have the time for a coffee break with you."

Valerie looked crestfallen. She didn't expect Queenie to be so wary of her. The driver even followed them all the way to the cafe, "Auntie Holland, I saw a boy in a photo that was posted by Jamie before this. I saw the boy today."

"Facebook?"

Valerie took out her mobile phone and showed the Facebook post to Queenie.

Queenie then checked on her own Facebook. It turned out that Jamie had hidden the post from her.

"Auntie Holland, do you know who this boy is?"

Valerie noticed that Queenie was angry. Moreover, the purpose of Jamie hiding the post from Queenie was obvious. "Who is it?"

"Auntie Holland, do you know who Coralie is?"

Valerie was not sure if Queenie had seen Coralie or if she knew her existence at all.

"Yes, my daughter mentioned that she is Skylar's wife. She is excellent in all aspects. Do they have anything to do with each other?"

Queenie held no prejudice against Coralie.

Moreover, Jamie had often told Queenie just how excellent Coralie was in school. In her opinion, if Coralie was that good of a person, that only meant that Skylar was a lucky man.

She knew that Skylar had married a girl from an ordinary family, but this matter had nothing to do with her. Naturally, she did not care much about it.

Valerie was not happy to hear such a positive comment about Coralie from Queenie. She then said, "This boy is Coralie's younger brother. Auntie Ford told me that the Chariott family taught their children to seduce rich people. I didn't believe it until..."

She paused.

Queenie could already guess the rest of the story no matter how ignorant she was.

"I think that you are biased against her because she took Skylar away from you."

Queenie's impression of Valerie turned for the worse. She felt that this girl was filled with schemes.

"Coralie has seduced Skylar since their university days. Since Skylar is the son of the Holland family, his living conditions must have been better than that of ordinary people. however, Coralie claimed that she was unaware of his identity. Would you really believe it? Look, with Jamie's qualifications, she must have been outstanding in school. Why would Wayne try to..."

Valerie paused.

She deliberately stopped talking so that Queenie would come to her own conclusion.

"This is a matter pertaining to the George family and the Holland family. It has nothing to do with you. If you plan to use me as a ploy in your scheme to snatch Skylar away from her, I think that you must have been too caught up in your will-o-the-wisp."

Queenie then opened the door and got out of the car.

Although she seemed unperturbed, she still couldn't help but feel a little upset deep down.

She wasn't insistent on Jamie marrying into a rich family. After all, she was the only daughter in her family. As long as her daughter was happy, everything else was secondary.

However, if Wayne, as Valerie had said, had pursued her daughter for the George family's money...

The more she thought about it, the more dejected she became. After she got into her car, she called Jamie immediately. When the line was connected, she uttered, "Come home tonight."
