You Complete Me novel (Skylar and Coralie) -
Chapter 218
Jayson didn't dare to walk away. He stood at the door, watching Skylar Holland silently.
He saw Skylar's strange expression when he was reading the letter just now.
He was afraid that Skylar would do something extreme.
Skylar looked at the letter for a long time before carefully cutting the envelope. Then, a black bank card fell from the envelope.
He looked at the bank card.
There were some words written by Coralie on the back of the card where it should have been signed. "I'm sorry."
He didn't know what she meant by the apology, but it seemed to convey countless meanings.
Skylar took the card and held it in his hand. In just two seconds, the card was bent into an L-shape.
"Who the hell wants your apology!"
Skylar threw the card heavily on the ground. He swept the computer and everything on the table to the ground, and then he kicked the table. The huge and solid wooden table was pushed back by a few inches from his strength.
Jayson stood at the door and didn't dare to say a word.
He called Harvey Felton and briefly told him about the matter, hoping that Harvey could advise Skylar.
Harvey called Timothy Young and the two of them came to the Skyton Corporation together.
When they arrived at the door of the president's office, the noise inside had subsided a lot.
Upon seeing the situation and how Jayson was standing waiting at the door, Timothy asked, "What's going on?"
"He's probably smashed all the things he could replace."
Jayson explained, sighing.
"Is it necessary just for a woman?"
Timothy had always been cynical. In his opinion, women were just like clothes. When they were worn out, he would change into new ones.
"Alright, stop talking. Do you think everyone is the same as you?" When Harvey saw Timothy's attitude, he knew that Timothy hadn't fully grasped the situation yet. "Ever since the first time I saw Skylar bring Coralie to our hospital, I knew Skylar treated her dearly."
After a while, Skylar came out before Timothy and Harvey went in. He was holding the envelope in his hand as he said to Jayson, "Jayson, go and replace out where the letter came from." Skylar's expression was as usual.
However, when Harvey and Timothy looked at the office behind him, all the books, documents, computer, vases, cabinets, and basically everything else in the office had been smashed into pieces already. Unfortunately, there was no axe in the office. Otherwise, Skylar would have chopped down the wooden table and lit a fire right in the middle of the office.
"Yes."
As soon as Jayson said that, he left.
"Skylar, don't be too sad."
As a doctor, Harvey knew that the calmer Skylar looked, the more abnormal he was.
Upon seeing Harvey, Skylar started to recount all the past incidents. His black eyes turned sharp as he asked him, "Did you know about Coralie's pregnancy?"
If Coralie was pregnant when she was hospitalized that time, Harvey would definitely know it.
Hearing Skylar's question, Harvey was stunned. He then replied, "Yes, but she said that the child is not yours, so she didn't want me to tell you about it."
"Are you f**king stupid? You really believed it when she said the baby was not mine? You really didn't tell me when she told you not to?"
When Skylar heard this, his anger that had been suppressed earlier was ignited again. He grabbed Harvey by the collar and threw him to the ground.
Harvey was only a doctor. He stumbled to the ground as Skylar pushed him so aggressively that he couldn't hold it.
"The child is yours?" Harvey asked.
"It's mine, the child is mine. Who else can it belong to?"
Skylar was most infuriated by the fact that he could have known about Coralie's pregnancy. He might have had a chance to save everything, but all of these possibilities had turned into impossibilities because Harvey did not tell him about Coralie's pregnancy.
Harvey got up and dusted away the dirt on his clothes. He could only say, "Skylar, I'm sorry for your loss."
"Sorry for my loss? I'm the one who lost my wife, not you. It's easy for you to say this!"
Skylar roared.
Timothy stood aside and quickly stopped Skylar. "Brother Skylar, calm down. Harvey couldn't have known that. He would have told you if he knew, right? We've been brothers for so many years. Come on, you guys can't fall out because of a woman."
"My woman is dead. How do you want me to stay calm?"
Skylar looked at Timothy.
"Boss, I didn't mean that. I mean, we can talk about it. After all, she is dead, it wouldn't help if we continue to fight here. Why don't we go and have a drink?"
The three of them were used to relieving their stress by alcohol.
"I'm not going. I don't have time."
Skylar picked up his mobile phone and saw the local news pop up. It was raining heavily, and the major dams in the city were going to flood that night.
He didn't think there was anything special about this information at first.
"Forget it, let's go." Harvey said.
Harvey knew that Skylar was consumed by his anger at the moment. He had to wait for a while before he could calm down.
He called Timothy to leave, while Jayson couldn't stop apologizing at the side.
The next day, Jayson found the address where Coralie sent the letter and notified Skylar. He had reached the post box when, out of the blue, he received a phone call from Yohan Green. "Skylar, have you seen the news about the flood last night?" Yohan asked.
"Yes."
Skylar had nothing to say to Yohan at first. When Yohan suddenly mentioned the flood, he didn't have any reaction at all.
However, Yohan continued to say, "Skylar, we have all lost. If Coralie's body was in the dam, then it would have probably been swept out to the sea after this flood. It will never be found again."
Upon hearing Yohan's words, Skylar's hand, which was holding his mobile phone, grew pale. He looked at the postbox and said after a long time, "Don't f**k with me."
"Skylar, you should understand. You love her, and I love her too," Yohan said.
"Do you love her? Do you deserve to say these words?" Skylar fired back.
"It's you who doesn't deserve it. Skylar, Coralie and I were childhood sweethearts. I was her neighbor when I was a child. I have loved her for more than 20 years. What about you? How can you compare with me?"
Yohan finally said these words.
In his opinion, Coralie was dead, so he wanted to tell Skylar about how he felt.
"What did you say?" Skylar raised his voice.
"Also, Coralie signed a prenuptial agreement with me. I will hand this agreement over to the court and have it effected and Coralie will also be buried in the tomb as my deceased wife."
Yohan murmured. Just like Skylar, he couldn't accept Coralie's suicide.
However, he never felt that he had done something wrong.
In his opinion, he was just asking Coralie to get rid of the child; he didn't think he went too far. Why did Coralie commit suicide?
"Don't you even think about it! She was my wife, and will always be mine. Even if she is dead now, she'll still never belong to you."
Skylar really didn't expect that Yohan would actually phone him to talk about these things.
"Skylar, this is a society with lawful rules. What you said was useless. If I am not mistaken, all you have now is your divorce certificate with Coralie, right?"
Yohan was sure that although he did not have a marriage certificate with Coralie, he had a prenuptial agreement signed by Coralie herself.
"The prenuptial agreement is nothing but a prenuptial agreement."
Skylar didn't want to continue the conversation with Yohan anymore. He hung up the phone and found that the rain had stopped.
When he looked up to the sky, he caught sight of an old building not far away. He saw a blue skirt hanging on the balcony of a house on the second floor, and it looked like the exact same one Coralie used to have...
