Coralie was afraid that she would wake Hera up. Therefore, she hauled herself to the corridor and hid under the dim light for a very long time. She was alone, sitting there without thinking of anything.

She dared not to reminisce on the past, because Skylar was part of it.

She dared not to think about the future too, because Skylar did not share a part in it.

Coralie just sat there by herself.

Until Hera walked out of her room.

"Mom! Why did you get out of bed on your own!"

Seeing Hera wobble off out of the room, Coralie was startled. She immediately went to hold Hera.

Hera sat down on the bench in the corridor with Coralie's help before she muttered, "Coralie."

"Mom, sorry. Did I wake you up?"

Coralie quickly recomposed and wiped her tears away. She didn't want Hera to see in that state. She did not want to worry Hera.

"Coralie, I have something to tell you after battling through this illness."

Although Hera was speaking very slowly and her voice was slightly unclear, Coralie could still understand her.

"Ok, Mom, go ahead."

"Actually, you are not my biological child. You are the child of my best friend. She died giving birth to you..."

Of course, Coralie was not surprised by what Hera said. "Well, Mom, I already found that out for quite some time."

"I know you are indeed a thoughtful child." Hera lowered her head.

"Mom, you'll always be my beloved mother!"

Judging from Coralie's unchanged expression, Hera knew that Coralie must have already learned it. She also figured out why Coralie never told her about it.

She held Coralie's hand. "Your biological mother is Madison Carter. We're best friends. We've known each other since we were students. We hadn't met for a long time until one day, she came to me, pregnant..."

Hera sat there and recalled the past of her and Madison. She told Coralie every single bit of her and Madison's story, from the time they attended school, to how Madison approached her when she was pregnant, and lastly about Madison's death. She was speaking so very slowly as it was difficult for her to enunciate, tears continued to roll down her cheeks.

"Mom."

Coralie took out a piece of tissue to wipe off Hera's tears.

Hera looked at Coralie's face, which was similar to Madison's. She then caressed Coralie's face and whispered, "Coralie, not only you look like your mother, but also your personality. It's completely the same. Both of you are too stubborn. In the end, you will only hurt yourself. You don't even know how to fight for your own love."

"Mom, I will not hurt myself. Yohan is very kind to me."

Coralie repeated what she had said to Xenia to Hera.

Compared to Xenia, she didn't wish to worry Hera more.

"Madison and Houston were not destined to be together because Houston already had a family of his own. But, things are different for you and Skylar. You are both singles at the moment. If you get married in the future, you will not be able to leave this trap again. By that time, it will be impossible for you and Skylar to be together anymore."

Every single word Hera had said went right into Coralie's heart.

"Mom, I will live a happy life."

"Good girl. I know you have your plan in mind. Don't regret your choice."

Coralie hugged Hera, tears of desperation streaming down her face uncontrollably.

Hera held Coralie. She didn't persuade Coralie any further.

Her heart ached to see Coralie bawling in front of her. She knew that whatever she said would only make Coralie even sadder.

Hera's last line echoed in Coralie's mind. Even she herself wasn't sure if she was able to not regret her choice.

Coralie asked for Yohan's permission to stay at A City for another week. She would return to S Country three days before their wedding.

She took Wayne to shop for clothes during weekends. Although he was already 24 years old, he still dressed like a child.

He wore casual clothes all day long. Although occasionally he would put on a shirt, it was not formal attire after all. After getting in the mall, Coralie matched a few suits for him.

When they checked out, they saw a glass cabinet at the counter. It had some accessories, tie clips, and cuff buttons.

Coralie was very familiar with one of these items. It was the one that she bought for Skylar...

"Madam, are you looking at this pair of cuff buttons?" The salesperson noticed Coralie's gaze and grabbed the opportunity to introduce, "This is a remake of our classic. Although there will be a new edition every year, there are limited numbers to it..."

"Isn't this the same as Brother Skylar's cuff button?" Wayne walked over, saw the cuff button, and added, "Brother Skylar always wears it every time he appears on the TV. It has become a heated topic on the Internet."

Hearing Wayne, the salesperson immediately chimed in, "Yes. You must be talking about Skylar, the president of Skyton Corporation, right? That's right, he is our VIP customer and he will purchase our products every year."

In fact, Skylar never bought anything from that store.

The salesperson was just making it up.

"Bill please."

Coralie became impatient listening to both of them talking about Skylar.

The salesperson was stunned for a moment; she didn't expect Coralie would get irked. After that, she quickly settled the bill for Coralie.

Only then did Coralie realize that she would get irritated and impatient at the mention of Skylar's name.

After getting out of the store, Wayne said, "Coralie, I know that you bought the cuff button for Brother Skylar. All his shirts are custom-made, so technically his cuff buttons should be more expensive. But Brother Skylar's cuff button only costs about five thousand dollars, that's why the media always talk about it."

"No, I didn't. Stop making guesses."

Coralie didn't want to bring this topic up again.

What was the reason that Skylar was still wearing the cuff button that she had gifted? The reason was obvious.

"Coralie."

Wayne followed Coralie.

Both of them were walking fairly quickly and they ended up bumping into a person who appeared from the corner of the opposite direction.

"Do you not look where you're going?"

It was a woman with short hair whom they bumped into. She was wearing a denim suit.

"I'm sorry."

While Coralie was apologizing, that person looked up. She was dumbfounded to see Coralie. "Coralie?"

Jamie looked up again. Seeing Wayne, who was behind Coralie, she fell silent.

Wayne recognized her at once, too. It was Jamie, Skylar's cousin.

"Long time no see."

Coralie rubbed her eyes and noticed that it was Jamie.

She recalled that Wayne told her that he was in love with Jamie years ago. He even confessed his love to her. However, Wayne had never mentioned Jamie after that. It seemed that it wasn't a happy ending. "Coralie, you... does Skylar know that you're back?"

Jamie began their conversation by mentioning Skylar.

Perhaps the law of attraction really did exist in this world.

The last thing Coralie wanted to talk about at A City was anything that had to do with Skylar. However, everything seemed to be related to Skylar. Even the things that she saw were related to Skylar too. It seemed that she couldn't escape.

"No." Coralie lowered her head, wanting to leave. "Why don't you talk to Wayne? I'll wait for you over there."

Since the moment they saw the cuff button a while ago, she no longer wanted to continue with any topic related to Skylar.

Jamie turned around and followed Coralie. "Coralie."

"Jamie, don't make things difficult for my sister."

Wayne stopped Jamie after seeing that she was chasing after Coralie.
