You Complete Me novel (Skylar and Coralie) -
Chapter 283
Jayson remained silent.
Coralie sat in the car and thought for a moment. She asked Jayson, "Can I go to work anywhere I want?" "Yes, with the help of Skyton Corporation's current connections, you can choose any company you like." Jayson answered quickly as he thought that Coralie had come to terms with it.
"Alright, I'm going to work at Skyton Corporation."
Coralie said resolutely.
She looked at Jayson firmly.
Jayson did not expect Coralie to say that she would want to work at Skyton Corporation. He paused for a moment and said, "I'm afraid it's not possible. Skyton Corporation doesn't have a suitable position for you now, Miss Chariott."
"Well, that was in the past, but I don't think it applies to the present. When I was in S Country, I learned a lot of things from a teacher in the Watson family for a year. I'm sure that I'm more than capable to work in Skyton Corporation," said Coralie.
Indeed, Coralie had learned a lot of things in the past year, but most of it had nothing to do with work. Perhaps the most useful thing was the new foreign language she learned.
However, she knew that with her status, she would only be able to see Skylar if she went to work at Skyton Corporation. She wanted to ask him in person for the reason why he was behaving in that manner. "Miss Chariott, the work in Skyton Corporation is..." Jayson wanted to refuse.
"I'll work as a cleaner in Skyton Corporation. Is that fine now?"
Coralie made a concession.
Jayson cast a surprised look at Coralie. He didn't expect that Coralie was willing to work as a cleaner in order to get into Skyton Corporation.
"Miss Chariott, I think President Holland has given you a very generous offer. Are you still dissatisfied?"
Jayson knew that he didn't have the right to let Coralie work in Skyton Corporation.
"I just want to ask Skylar why."
Coralie still couldn't accept it.
She wanted to know why Skylar did this.
"President Holland and you do not belong together at all. Both of you are incompatible."
Jayson tried to nip Coralie's thoughts in the bud.
"Then let me be a cleaner in Skyton Corporation! I'm willing to do it. Anyway, he gave me two million dollars a year. I can support myself no matter what I work as, right? Can't I work just for the fun of it?" Coralie was determined to go to Skyton Corporation.
Skylar didn't want her and Hendric. Why did this happen?
Coralie had a deep hunch in her heart. She felt that something must have happened to Skylar. Even if he was still alive, his life must be bordering on misery.
He must have suffered a serious injury after falling from the building last time.
She just wanted to tell Skylar in person that it didn't matter. It didn't matter what he looked like. It didn't matter even if he had nothing.
As long as he was Skylar Holland, Coralie was willing to accept him.
"I'm sorry," Jayson spoke.
He knew that he couldn't argue with Coralie, so he simply shut up.
Coralie was sent back to A City in a private plane as Skylar instructed.
Coralie got off the plane and took a taxi to a villa to pick up Hendric.
When Coralie entered the house, she found that there were two people inside, Xenia Lowell and Harvey Felton.
"Xenia," Coralie called out.
"Coralie! I thought I would never see you again in my life!"
Xenia was stunned when she saw Coralie. She said that she was going to marry Yohan Green last time, and it seemed that they were going to be apart from each other.
"I guess you'll have to see me for the rest of your life."
Coralie joked, a bitter smile on her face.
She felt like she was wading in a reverie this month.
Originally, she wanted to be with Skylar, but she had to marry Yohan because of what happened in the past. But now, Yohan's current state was uncertain, and Skylar also refused to see her. "What's wrong? Yohan is willing to let you come back? Can you be with Skylar now?"
Through Xenia's words, Coralie found that she did not know what happened to Skylar.
"He..."
"Mom!"
When Coralie was racking her brain trying to explain to Xenia about Skylar, Hendric shouted and galloped from the distance to hug her.
Hendric's little arms held Coralie's neck tightly, and he put his head against hers to express his yearning.
Coralie was somehow surprised. Hendric was less than two years old when she left. They hadn't seen each other for more than a year, but he still remembered her. "Hendric, do you miss me?"
"I do! Mom, please don't leave me again in the future, okay?"
Hendric's speech had improved a lot, and his pronunciation was clearer.
She found that Hendric was much taller and plumper as compared to before. He looked very healthy now. It seemed that he had almost been cured.
"I couldn't be happier now that you are back. I won't have to see him every now and then."
Xenia looked at Harvey with disdain.
Harvey was behind her, assuming an innocent look on his face. He said, "I have my own way of raising the child."
"Your way? That's your way? Leaving Hendric alone to the toys and busying yourself with your phone and work?" She questioned aggressively.
"I'm here to see how Hendric's condition is. What you mentioned just now is not the point of contention here," he fired back.
"The heck? Hendric has already recovered. Why don't you play with him more now that you're here?"
Then, Xenia and Harvey slid into a heated debate.
Coralie looked at them with a smile on her face. In her memory, Harvey was just a cold, stoic doctor. His expression was not as animated, and he spoke even less back then. Coralie didn't expect that he would have his little argument with Xenia at this moment.
It seemed that the two of them had grown quite close.
"Thank you both for your help when I wasn't here. I haven't returned home yet today. Let me treat you guys to dinner some other day."
Coralie said with a smile.
She could also see that Harvey's face turned slightly red when he was arguing with Xenia, as if he was shy.
"Well, you'd better invite your Skylar too. He should never dare to think that he's above me even if he paid me. If it wasn't for your sake, I wouldn't have helped him!" Xenia rested her hands on her hips, looking arrogant.
An uneasiness washed over Coralie when she heard her mention Skylar.
At the same time, Coralie looked up and found that Harvey, who was at her opposite, also showed the same expression.
She realized that Harvey must have known something.
In the past, she would go to Harvey whenever something happened. Harvey definitely knew something.
It would be the same this time.
Harvey turned his head and beheld Coralie's eyes. He was indeed behaving timidly.
"Well, I'll contact you in a few days."
Coralie looked away and said.
She knew that it was definitely not the time to ask Harvey now. It was better to ask him in private.
Xenia smiled and said to Hendric, "Bye Hendric!"
"Bye, Aunty Xenia. Bye, Uncle Harvey."
Hendric said goodbye to Harvey and Xenia in Coralie's arms.
Coralie carried Hendric and went back home in Jayson's car.
On the way, Hendric sat obediently beside Coralie and asked her once again, "Mom, you'll never leave me again, right? Really really really?"
"Yes," she replied.
Coralie patted Hendric's little head and nodded.
"Then... then let's make a pinky promise!"
Hendric said as he reached out his pinky finger and raised it before Coralie.
"Okay." Coralie also raised her pinky finger and locked it with Hendric's. "Now that our fingers are locked, we can never go back on our promise. For a hundred years!"
"The promise is made!"
Hendric said in a childish tone after they swore on it.
Coralie smiled and stretched out her thumb to meet Hendric's thumb.
"I promise you, I won't change my word." She was determined.
